The 'Cycle the Via Francigena - Siena to Rome' tour is your gateway to Italy’s postcard-worthy landscapes and ancient heritage. Over 9 moderate days, experienced travelers and seniors will pedal from Siena’s medieval charm through the rolling hills of Tuscany, the villages of Umbria, and the tranquil shores of Lake Bolsena, arriving triumphantly in Rome. Along the route, admire Bagno Vignoni’s thermal pool, Radicofani’s fortress, and Viterbo’s pilgrim district, while savoring the flavors of Brunello di Montalcino and cacio di Pienza. With accommodation, transport, and meals included, this self-guided bicycle trip perfectly blends scenic beauty, history, and Italian gastronomy—the true USP of this unforgettable journey.
Riding through the country side is the best way to absorb the culture, scenery, and people. The support along the way with the app and hotline was very helpful. There were some dangerous sections of the track with steep downhill on gravel. Accomodation was generally good but a kettle and fridge in all places is a must. Viterbo accomodation was poor and below standard. On the whole, it was pricey for what it was, but we enjoyed it.
The Via Francigena is well signed and has a lot of different scenery, wheat and hazelnut farms, forests old towns etc and great different accommodation each night.
