About Camila

Travel has been part of my professional and personal life for more than 20 years. I entered the travel industry in 2005 and have since been involved in creating trips for travelers across more than 70 countries. What started as a passion for discovering new destinations eventually became a career dedicated to helping other people experience them in a more personal and meaningful way. I am based in Mexico City, but my work has connected me closely with destinations and local travel experts around the world. Today, through Baboo Travel, I specialize in bringing together my experience in trip design with the first-hand knowledge of trusted local experts. What interests me most is understanding how each person likes to travel. Some travelers want culture and history, others nature and adventure, a self-drive journey, great food, beautiful hotels or simply more time to experience a destination at their own pace. For me, a great tailor-made trip should never feel like a standard tour with a different name. It should reflect the people actually taking it.

Camila's Expertise

I specialize in customized travel across Mexico, Peru, Italy, Japan, Croatia, Norway, Finland, Ireland, South Korea and China. My strongest areas are cultural and historical journeys, road trips and self-drive itineraries, nature and wildlife, hiking and outdoor experiences, family travel, food and local experiences, beach journeys, winter travel and Northern Lights experiences, as well as more comfortable and luxury tailor-made trips. I particularly enjoy combining the highlights that a traveler does not want to miss with smaller local experiences, interesting neighborhoods, beautiful landscapes and places that take them beyond the most obvious tourist route. I also work closely with destination specialists to make sure the itinerary works operationally, not just on paper.

Best Travel Experience

One of the travel experiences that has influenced me most has actually been discovering Mexico over many years rather than visiting it only once as a tourist. Living in Mexico City has allowed me to experience how dramatically a destination can change once you move beyond the obvious highlights. You can go from one of the world's largest cities to indigenous communities, archaeological sites, mountains, jungles, colonial towns, incredible food traditions and completely different landscapes within the same country. Some of my favorite moments have been the simple ones: discovering a small local restaurant, spending time with people who explain their traditions, or reaching a place that would probably never have appeared on a standard itinerary. That is something I now try to incorporate into every trip I design: see the important places, but leave room to discover the destination behind them.

I bring more than 20 years of travel-industry experience to every trip I design, but I believe the most important part of creating a customized journey is listening first. I want to understand how you travel, what excites you, what level of comfort you expect, what you definitely want to experience and what you would rather avoid. From there, I can help turn those preferences into an itinerary that makes sense both creatively and practically. I also have the advantage of working closely with trusted local experts in each destination. That gives me access to genuine local knowledge while allowing me to look at the complete journey from the traveler's perspective. My goal is not to fit you into an existing tour. It is to create the right trip around you, with the right balance of experiences, logistics, comfort and freedom.
