day 2 - Bernina Express Experience

After breakfast, meet your driver and head to St. Moritz, where you’ll have some free time to explore this elegant alpine resort town. Then, board the Bernina Express for one of the world’s most breathtaking train journeys through the Swiss Alps. Enjoy spectacular views of alpine villages, dramatic tunnels, and soaring mountain peaks as you cross the Bernina Pass toward Tirano. Upon arrival, your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Milan for the evening. Meals: B

day 3 - Milan Highlights

After breakfast, enjoy some free time to explore Milan at your own pace. In the afternoon, meet your local guide for a three-hour walking tour through the heart of the city. Begin at Porta Venezia, a historic gate with roots dating back to Roman and medieval times, and stroll along Corso Venezia. Walk through the Giardini Indro Montanelli, pass by the Galleria d’Arte Moderna, and continue along Viale Manzoni. From the outside, admire the iconic Teatro alla Scala and the magnificent Milan Cathedral . The tour concludes at the Castello Sforzesco, a grand medieval fortress, followed by a relaxing aperitivo. day 4 - Milan To Liguria

The towns, villages and towers that cling to the cliffs can be a riotous mix of vibrant colours and tempered pastel shades. There is so much history, the Greeks settled here in the 8th century B.C. and looking down you can almost imagine the Argonauts rowing by enroute to tackle some Titan. The Romans came next, building villas around Positano and on Capri. There was much destruction caused by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius and, not just at Pompeii and Ercolanium, some villas were rebuilt even on the Amalfi Coast. Then in the early mediaeval period Amalfi became a major maritime city state claiming to have invented the compass and some aspects of parchment manufacture. Today, the town remains much as it was with narrow lanes and St. Andrew’s Cathedral dominating the scene. Walk through this spectacular region using the extensive web of footpaths and mule tracks that thread along the cliffs. A wealth of natural and cultural treasures can be reached relatively easily. On this self-guided walking holiday along the Amalfi Coast, you'll pass close to beautiful monasteries, caves and ancient farmhouses, visit nature reserves and ruins of paper mills, whilst enjoying spectacular views during all the walks.
