Great, even in the monsoon

We went to Gosaikunda in the monsoon but still got visibility of the lake. On the way up and down the view was obscured by clouds but I have uploaded some photos of the views we were able to see.

The Gosainkunda Trekking adventure is perfect for young adult explorers eager to discover Nepal’s sacred lakes and Himalayan majesty. Beginning in Dhunche, the route offers dazzling views of Langtang Himalaya, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lhakpa, while passing through diverse vegetation in Langtang National Park.

Ascend rough trails to the holy Gosainkunda lakes—Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda—steeped in myth and revered by locals. The journey’s highlight is the crossing of Laurebina La, unveiling panoramic Himalayan vistas, including the towering Langtang Lirung and, on clear days, the distant Annapurna range.

The unique selling point of this trekking tour is its rare combination of natural beauty and profound cultural heritage, offering a soulful and scenic adventure in the heart of Nepal.

day 1 - Drive to Dhunche (1,950m)

Dhunche is at the north of Kathmandu valley. It takes about 6-7 hours drive to reach Dhunche from Kathmandu. On the way we pass many famous towns. Dhunche is the capital of Rasuwa district and this is the town inside of Langtang National Park.

day 2 - Trek from Dhunche to Sing Gompa (3,254m)

After breakfast, we will start trek to Sing Gompa, The tracks is steeply up with rhododendron, pine forest and banyan trees which will take 4-5 hours to reach sing Gompa. We also pass army base camp on the way. We also found different species of birds and wild animal on the way. When we reach the Sing Gompa, we will see the monastery, famous yak cheese factory lunch by Nepal Government.

day 3 - Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4,336m)

We will head towards Gosaikunda from Sing Gompa. After walking 5-6 hours, we will reach the holy pond Gosaikunda and stay overnight over there. The track is steeply up and on the way, we can see lots of mountain range such as Annapurna range, Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan range and Langtang. Mostly pilgrimage travel on June when there is festival janaipurnima but trekkers will trek all the time in year.

day 4 - Trek from Gosaikunda to Ghopte (2,680m)

We will start to decline from Gosaikunda. From the Gosaikunda the trek go to northeast after the hour we will reach to the Lauribina la pass. After this, the track will be heading down hill till we reach Phedi. After crossing the Phedi, the treks ascend and descend to reach Ghopte. Ghopte is small but beautiful place there are only two teahouse and we will stay overnight on the teahouse. After walking 7-8 hours, we will reach Ghopte.

day 5 - Trek from Ghopte to Kutumsang (2,470m)

The trek will start after breakfast. For the first 20 minutes, the trail will go steeply down and up and descend till Tharepati. We can see best mountain view from this place. On this trail we can see lots of wild animal one of them is red panda (endangered species) and the track is steeply down with dense forest of oak, pine and different types of rhododendron to reach to Kutumsang. Kutumsang itself is a large village so there will be many choices available regarding lodging and food. You will mainly find Tamang people around there.

day 6 - Trek from Kutumsang to Chisapani (2,200m)

The trek will start after breakfast. Again we have to walk through the forest descend to till Gulbhangang then the track will go upward till next hill we passes different villages terraces and jungle also we can see the culture lifestyle of the local people. Again we will head down to Patibhangang. from Patibhangang it will took half an hour to reach chisapani (in Nepali it means cold water). We can see lots of mountain range from chisapani. Chisapani is the small village but its location is amazing.

day 7 - Trek from Chisapani to Sundarijal & drive back to KTM

After breakfast at Chisapani we will head toward Shivapuri National Park and walk about 1 hour to reach top of the hill. Again we will head descend to Sundarijal. If we are lucky, we can see lots of animal on the way. The Sundarijal is the one of the important source of water for the Kathmandu valley and there is one of the oldest hydro power of Nepal.
