I had a beautiful experience during 16 days in Kathmandu and trekking to EBC with this local travel specialist. Since the pickup at airport, support with hotel , gear shopping’s. My guide Kumar was also excellent and very professional, I couldn’t made it successfully without him and all support provided. Very thanks to Mr Khum which was confident and experienced making me feel safety and well supported by his team. I really recommend them and hopefully will see you soon. Namaste
I have just returned from Nepal and a trek from Lukla to EBC and Gokyo Lake with 9 friends in our 50's and 60's. We were introduced to this local travel specialist by my sister, who trekked with them in Annapurna 4 years ago. We found them excellent, very responsive to us before the trip and very willing to ensure that we had a really unique and great experience of Nepal and its people on the trip. When problems were encountered, as they always are on these trips, Khum Subedi and his team were very good at responding and always offered solutions and worked with us to react. I would love to work with them again and cannot recommend the company highly enough.
My daughter and I went on this trek in October/November as a private trek. As a result of illness at Gokyo, we had to change our plans, so missed out on Cho La, Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. However, the trek to and from Gokyo and around Gokyo was absolutely wonderful. The scenery was beyond description and the weather was perfect. Our guide, Prakash, was excellent; when we had to alter the trip, he managed it supremely well, so although we had to go back the same way, the experience was different and marvellous. The teahouses that were used were all perfectly fine and Prakash managed to get really good deals. Our porter, Umiss (apologies if not spelt correctly), was unfailingly cheerful and came on some of the side trips with us when he was not carrying the load. It is a demanding trek but the rewards are fantastic; the views of the Everest Massif from Gokyo Ri and the 5th lake are stupendous. The only downside was the chaos at Lukla Airport on the way back, but Prakash managed that as best as he could. I would unhesitatingly trek with this company again.
Would recommend. We had a helpful trip, and it couldn’t have been any better. Thankyou
We booked an Everest/Gokyo Lake trek with this tour operator and could not have been more pleased. All communication with Chris and Khum, the owners of the tour company, were very easy through email and every question we had was answered promptly. Even during our trek, when we needed assistance, Chris was always there for us. We ran into issues with our flight to Lukla (airport had been closed for days) and we inquired if there was any chance to hire a helicopter to fly us to Lukla, so we could start our trek. Within two hours we were on board a helicopter and on our way (of course we paid for this flight out of our own pockets). Trekking in the Himalayas went off without a hitch and we had a wonderful time. Before and after our trek, the tour company organized city tours of Kathmandu for us. We always had very knowledgeable guides who educated us in Nepalese culture and religion (we highly recommend Shankar Bhattarai as your city guide, you can email him at expertnepaltourguide@gmail.com). Chris even met us for breakfast a couple of times at our hotel in Kathmandu, just to say hello. We highly recommend this tour company for all your Himalaya adventures.
Absolutely incredible trek. Great views and not so overcrowded. If you like to get away from all the people and walk in peace and quiet this is a great route. Challenging although not to difficult, the climbs of Kala Patthar and Gokyo Ri were excellent.
Very well organized trek with great guide and porters. We had no problems during the whole trip.
There are super stunning view on Chola pass and Gokyo lake. And when you in Gorakshep near EBC you can see a beautiful view of Mt.Everest
Great track with amazing views. Specially the views from Gokyo Ri and the fifht lake are more than worth it. It is a shame to skip this part of the track.
A group of 10 of us undertook the Everest Base Camp, Cho La Pass and Gokyo Lake trek in April 2018. It was an amazing experience and we felt truly priviledged to see a wonderful part of the world. The stunning views and scenery, friendly people and great places we visited will live long in our memories. The trek was challenging in places, especially with having to adjust to the altitude, but it was worth the effort for the rewards. The weather was great whilst we were there with us only needing shorts and t-shirts when trekking at lower-levels. The accommodation and food was as expected, considering the remoteness of the location.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and trek. What sets this trek apart from the standard Everest Base Camp trek is the part after Cho La Pass. There are less tourist and one gets to enjoy the mountains more, rather than the human traffic. Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri are beautiful and it's definitely worth spending time there for hikes and an ascent.
Mountains, glaciers and lakes..you have it all. a trekker's dream and a photographer delight.
I have done an extensive research Everest Base Trek options. This trek was the perfect length for us. The trail to Namche was relativelyl crowded (we went in October, which is the busiest time there due to gorgeous weather), but then it veers off the beaten path to go to Machermo and Gokyo Lakes. We had a great guide and the mountain views were stunning. There is absolutely nothing like the Himalyas if you like mountains. Trekking in the Kumbu region is one of the more affordable opportunities if you want to seet them. We certainly felt that we got a great value! However, make sure that you research what you are signing up for prior to going - the trail is relatively difficult, there is a chance for mountain sickness (don't skimp on insurance!!!) and the food/accomodation are relatively spartan. But we were expecting that and had the time of our lives! Strongly recommend!
We successfully did the Everest base camp/Chola pass/Gokyo lake trek with this local operator. Everything was just perfect. Caring, professionnal, patient with our 100000 questions and always making sure that we were enjoying every moment to the fullest. We did a lot of research before booking, and we recommand this operator without hesitation. Special mention to our guide Karma Sherpa who was THE BEST! Thank you so much for this amazing experience!!!

Though it was the off-season, got the best views from Gokyo and Kalapathar.Another excitement was seeing Mt Amadablam for most of the days.
We traveled with this local tour operator mid/end of April 2017, doing the EBC and Cho La Pass, Goyko Lakes trek. Communications via email/whataspp with Mr Khum before the trip were excellent, timely, professional. He answered all our questions and amended the trip to suit our needs. We were provided with a very good guide for a Kathmandu valley tour before our trek. Our Guide while trekking, Mr Lakpa Sherpa was excellent and well experienced,. He had a kind and gentle personality but was extremely efficient, knowledgeable and helpful and was very caring when we felt a little unwell with the altitude. We had a younger porter, Mr Namka who was fun and enthusiastic. Sadly he become extremely unwell on our return to Namche Bazaar. Lakpa worked quickly to get him into the local hospital, and when it became clear he needed more extensive medical attention, Mr Khum organised a medical evacuation helicopter to Lukla and flight to Kathmandu where he was met by ambulance and taken to a good hospital for emergency surgery. We are pleased to say he is now well and back home. The trip was a great success and we happily and safely made it to Everest Base Camp, up and over Cho La pass and to Goyko Ri. The tea houses provided were well situated in each place and offered great views It is definitely worth paying the couple of extra dollars per person per night to upgrade to an ensuite room where possible. The ensuite varied from toilet, sink and shower to just a toilet and the shower included hot solar heated water (we only used this lower down when the air temperature was warmer) but not having to walk down the hallway in the middle of the night in the freezing cold to use the toilet was extremely appreciated. The food at the tea houses was basic and very carb heavy - Fried Rice, Pasta, Potatoes. The Dhal Bhat was definitely the best meal option with Rice, Papadom, Vegetable curry and lentil soup and free refills. The Pasta and Pizza options were also very good. Other favorites were Momos filled with mash potatoe and yak cheese and also the Vegetable Lasagne. We were trekking for 14 days and did get a little tired of the food on offer so snacks such as chocolate, biscuits and fruit were a welcome change. I would recommend bringing chocolate from home as it is much cheaper. I also carried concentrated juice (Robinsons Squash'd) to add to my drinking water, this made it much easier to drink 3-4 litres per day. Prices for luxuries on the mountain are a little expensive - Chocolate bars (snickers, mars, bounty) $2-$5 per bar, soda $2-$4 per bottle, cake $2-$7 per slice, the pricing is higher the higher your elevation due to the extra costs of delivering the produce there. You can charge electrical equipment at all lodges, costs vary from free to $3 per hour, charging is only available if there has been good weather to charge the solar batteries. Hot showers are available at all lodges and cost around $3-$5. There were a few small issues along the way, so not everything was perfect. The driver taking us to the airport for our Kathmandu/Lukla flight was very late so our guide had to flag down a passing taxi to take us or we would have missed our flight. Also our first nights accommodation on the trek had not been pre-booked and our porter on the first 2 days took an extremely long time to deliver our bags to the tea house (2+ hours after we arrived). We complained to Mr Khum and Mr Lakpa about this and all was sorted out and we did not have any further trekking issues. We did make few changes to our tour at the last minute which were accommodated professionally and quickly. Our guide Lakpa advised that we should change from trekking to Gokyo first then to EBC, but to do this the other way around EBC then Gokyo. This was great advice and an easier trekking route over Cho La pass. We also finished the trek earlier than expected due to trekking from Gokyo back to Namche in one day (rather than 2 or 3 days). Mr Lakpa amended our flight from Lukla for us and Mr Khum made arrangements for an extra nights accommodation in Kathmandu, all of which was greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Gokarna Forest Resort for a bit of luxury after a long trek. Our trip was a once in a life time journey for us and I am glad we organised this through the local operator and I would recommend their services. If we get the itch to climb one of the mountains like Mera Peak in the future we will definitely call on Mr Khum's and Mr Lakpa's services again. Visited April 2017
We had such a great experience on this trek. Our guide was local to the region so we gained such great information about the region and were able to visit some extra places not on the itinerary. We had amazing weather the whole trip so even on the hardest days we were reminded why we were here with great views. The trek was challenging as expected so very much enjoyed that too. All round great experience.
The trek was even more incredible than I imagined. The accommodation and the food made it relaxing after walking for the day through breath taking scenery. Everyday you see unreal views of some of the most amazing mountains in the world. My personal favourite was the part walking to Gokyo Lake. This route is less busy and it felt like a real adventure. Walking through the different altitudes felt like different worlds, constantly changing landscapes, terrain and wild life.Gokyo was by far may favourite village to stay in, with views overlooking Gokyo Ri and the lake. The nepali people are warm, friendly and make you feel at home in their lodges. Walking through several villages, seeing how the people live and the families was an experience which was worth it alone. The route is perfect if you want to see Gokyo lake, base camp and kalapatar without walking back the same way. I believe that walking up via gokyo, chola pass and then to gorshep really assisted in my altitude acclimatization.
