Itinerary

All-inclusive trek to Everest Base Camp, staying in Private Comfort Camps instead of standard teahouses. The Everest Base Camp Trek - Private Comfort Camps is a fully supported guided trek through Nepal's Khumbu region to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,598 ft), including the ascent of Kala Pattar (5,545 m / 18,192 ft) - the finest viewpoint in the region for Mount Everest (8,848 m / 29,032 ft), Lhotse (8,516 m / 27,940 ft) and Nuptse (7,861 m / 25,791 ft).
No technical climbing experience is required, but you should be fit, active and comfortable with sustained days of walking on steep mountain terrain.
What sets this trek apart from standard teahouse itineraries is where you sleep. Most nights on the trail are spent in World Expeditions' private comfort camps, set apart from the main trail, with standing-height tents, raised beds with thick mattresses and pillows, a heated dining room and composting sit-down toilets. The remaining nights are in handpicked lodges in key villages (two are basic due to limited options), with a comfortable hotel at either end in Kathmandu.
The itinerary is paced deliberately for safe altitude gain rather than speed, with dedicated acclimatisation time built in rather than treated as optional. Guides are trained in remote wilderness first aid and carry a group medical kit and a portable altitude chamber. The route's gradual sleeping-altitude profile is what gives trekkers the best chance of reaching Base Camp feeling well, and it is the single biggest difference between a rushed itinerary and a successful one.
The trail follows the classic route through the Sherpa heartland along the Dudh Kosi valley, with time in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft), the trading hub of the Khumbu, and at Thyangboche Monastery (3,860 m / 12,664 ft), the spiritual centre of the region. Beyond the treeline it climbs past Dingboche (4,360 m / 14,304 ft) on its alpine plateau beneath Ama Dablam (6,812 m / 22,349 ft), then follows the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep (5,164 m / 16,942 ft), the last settlement before Base Camp.
Everything you need on the trail is included: all meals prepared fresh by a dedicated trekking kitchen team, treated drinking water supplied hot and cold each day to remove the need for single-use plastic, return flights to the mountain airstrip at Lukla, all national park fees and trekking permits, and a gear pack containing a four-season down sleeping bag, fleece liner, down or fibre-fill jacket and a duffel carried by our porters.
Groups are small and led by an expert local leader with a professional Nepalese crew. World Expeditions has been operating treks in Nepal since 1975. Our porters receive fair wages, insurance, protective clothing, food and shelter, and carry loads within responsible weight limits.
