Everest Base Camp Dec/Jan

Yes, I highly recommend this company. A huge thank you Chhatra, Ram, Raju, Raj, and the phenomenal driver who’s name I missed—for an excellent trip from December 19, 2021 to January 3, 2022. I completed the Everest Base Camp trek from 12/20-12/31 and added on two additional day tours in Kathmandu. The trek was incredible and led by Ram, an energetic senior guide, and Raj, a friendly porter. Stunning scenery and an accomplishment I’ll never forget!! On my day tours in Kathmandu, Raju filled my brain with history and cultural insights, while adapting our stops to my interests and selecting great rooftop restaurants. Chhatra was super responsive to all my questions and concerns regarding the trip and COVID-19 logistics. He arranged a PCR test at my hotel for my return to the United States and Raju walked me through picking up the results at the airport and double checking the report details. Top notch transfer service as well. The staff were attentive and provided a safe first experience in Nepal for me, a female and solo traveler. Looking forward to booking my next trek to the Annapurna region!!

The trek of a lifetime

This was an amazing trek. My guide, Gelu Tamang, was the best. He was personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and hilarious, and we became good friends over the 12 days of the trek. Count yourself lucky if you get to trek with Gelu. Chhatra did a very good job making arrangements for the trek, including permits and flights.

Good trek to do, but Prepare adequately... Trekking company does more than adequate...

I think this was well designed, well supported trek. Good lodges, good food, well informed caring guide, at reasonable cost. What more you can ask for.... At age of 54 with reasonable preparation I could do EBC and Kala patthar only thanks to Nepal echo adventures... I wish them all the best.

Best Experience Ever

This trip was amazing! Our guide (Dorjee) was a blast to be with for 12 days he really connects with you and is very informative and booked us good teahouses. The trek it self was fun but challenging at the same time with a amazing reward of being at basecamp! I highly recommend this trip to anyone!

The trip is so great, no word can't describle. I have a lot of good memory with this.

Very nice trip!

The everest base camp trek is the best trekking I ever did! I did the trek in february and although is was a bit colder than the high season it was definitely worth it, because the crowds are also a lot less.

Everest Base Camp Treak :)

I had the most AMAZING time trekking to the EBC. Could not have done it without Sudip (our guide) and Raj (our porter). Together we shared many laughs along the way which helped keep the spirits high and I reached base camp on a beautifully and sunny perfect day. Look forward to going back to Nepal for some more trekking in the future.

Very Positive Experience with Nepal Eco

The Everest Base Camp & Kala Patthar Trek is an incredible experience! Sudip was a great guide, who went above and beyond to ensure I was enjoying the trip - and he even organised a special cake for me on Christmas Day, which was very lovely! The trip is very well organised and the choice of tea houses is good. Sudip gave me the option to change the itinerary slightly, doing Kala Patthar in the afternoon of EBC instead of the very early wake up (which I definitely preferred), however, in hindsight, I probably would have preferred to have the celebration night in Namche and endured the huge walk the day after, instead of travelling down and staying the night in Monjo. I would also be interested to know more about the cost breakdown, as I was allowed to order anything off the menu at meal times (which was great!), but with meals differing in price, I'm unsure how Nepal Eco budgets for this. Overall it was a very positive experience and one that I would, and definitely will recommend!

An awesome and unforgettable trek with Raj and Nepal Eco Adventure!

As an amateur trekker, I can't imagine going to EBC without Raj. Raj really made this journey so special and distinct. By comparison to all the guides I have seen in the EBC trek, he was definitely the best, and it is quite obvious when you interact with him. He was always helpful, never hesitating to satisfy your needs, and was not only a fantastic guide, but also a really good person. He was very informational, friendly, and cheerful. I can say that he is a model of what a guide should be or strive to be.I'd recommend Raj to those doing the EBC trek or any other trek in Nepal, as his 10 years of experience as a guide and his personality will make any trek enjoyable even when it becomes cold and miserable from altitude sickness.

Excellent trek

We had an excellent trek together with our very friendly, helpful and informative guide Dukpa. The trek is so beautiful and we enjoyed each day. Kala Patthar was hard but definitely worth the effort. We had a wonderful view of Mount Everest in the sunset. Perfect :-)

Wonderful experience and amazing guide.

Trekked during the monsoon season. Was lucky to get flights there and had a great time going up to base camp, going back I encountered problems with the weather to fly out of Lukla. Luckily my guide, Narayan Rai, was resourceful enough to get me to Kathmandu by helicopter after being stuck in Lukla for 5 days due to bad weather and flights not entering in and out.

Well organised, helpful company with fantastic guide

We trekked in July/August (during monsoon season) but this actually turned out to work in our favour. Although the views were more cloudy, the paths were empty and we had most of the mountains to ourselves! Chhatra briefed us well at the office beforehand and sorted all the permits and insurance. Our guide (Arun) was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the mountains, villages, local areas etc. He was also extremely helpful when one of our party fell sick from the altitude. All in all, a superb and safe company to book the Everest Base Camp trek with.

Well-organized trek. Good company, some reservations about the guide

Well-organized trek, with good logistical support from the company and the guide, and of course, spectacular scenery. Food and lodging met expectations (though definitely basic). We were happy we did not get sick from the food (we avoided meat). Nepal Eco deserves credit for selecting tea houses with high standards of food hygiene. We had two reservations about the trip, mostly related to the guide (Ramesh Jirel): 1. We have been on treks before with guides that were knowledgeable about the history and culture of the region and had strong command of English. Unfortunate, our guide on this trip mostly pointed to mountains and gave their names. He provided very little commentary on the history or culture of the area, and when we asked him questions, we mostly received short replies. We often had trouble understanding his English, and had to ask him to repeat himself rather frequently. 2. At the end of our trek, we gave the guide and porter their tips separately to ensure that each person received the intended amount, but we noticed that our guide made a point of being present when we gave our tip to the porter, and left with the porter after we gave him his envelope. Then Ramesh returned to us after leaving the porter, and said that he thought we didn't give enough of a tip, because the porter "looked sad", and then suggested a tip that amounted to almost the entire cost of hiring the porter for 11 days. We felt of course very uncomfortable and bothered, because we had taken time and care to make sure that we were tipping well (and we did, even by US standards). We replied that we had researched tipping guidelines and gave on the high end of what was suggested. He then tried to ingratiate himself with us afterwards, probably in an effort to get a higher tip for himself; we think it's possible that the guide took part of the porter's tip in exchange for having chosen him to be the porter for our trek, which bothered us (why else would he walk out with the porter, and then come back). This unfortunately left us with a sour taste in our mouths. We later read similar stories online about this happening to other trekkers in the Himalayas; apparently the trekking industry has become a very good source of income for guides (the average Nepali earns about $2,500 USD/year) and somewhat of a "dog eat dog" business, with guides sometimes demanding extraordinarily large tips, a practice that is very out of line with Nepalese culture. Strangely enough, we had no issues whatsoever when we gave our guide his tip at the end of our trek, and he seemed very grateful and happy. We think that this is not the norm for the agency through which we booked or for the Nepalese people, and that we just happen to have had a negative experience in this area. We understand that tipping is an important part of a guide and porter's income. But the fact of the matter is that gratuities are voluntary and should be accepted with gratitude and appreciation, whatever the amount. Under no circumstances should a guide comment on the amount of the tip in such a way as to make the client feel uncomfortable or to pressure them into giving more. This kind of behaviour is unprofessional and significantly detracts from what would otherwise be an experience of a lifetime. We hope that Nepal Eco will take measures to educate all their guides on the standards of acceptable professional behaviour.

Fantastic Everest Base Camp Trek!

Chhatra has been very helpful from day one. Always quick with his replies to all my enquiries before we arrived. And continues to be very helpful throughout. Professional, jovial and courteous! Our guide Ram....the BEST! He helped everyone in the group. Always joking and smiley, even when handling difficult people and difficult situations. I was the slowest and he made sure that I was not left behind. Always encouraging. When my soles came off 1+hr before Namche, he taped them with strong tapes, smiling. & joking with asst guide Sudeep throughout! When my son fell ill, he took care of him tirelessly! We almost had to take the Rescue Heli back but Ram proceeded very slowly to Gorak Shep & EBC, checking his oxygen level n bp with the oxymeter regularly. We made it to EBC! It is Guides like him that makes a HUGE difference! Thank you Ram!!!
