Itinerary

The Everest Base Camp and Gokyo trek is one of the best treks in Nepal. You will be overwhelmed by the awesome views of the world’s highest mountains including Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Mt. Nuptse (7855m), Mt. Pumori (7161m), Mt. Changaste (7,550m), Mt. Ama Fablam (6,856m), Mt. Thamserku (6,723m), Mt. Kantega(6,685m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m) among others.

The trekking route is designed in such a way that you will be able to make excursions to Gokyo lakes also; have short summit to the fantastic Gokyo Ri, and finally reach Mt. Everest base camp.

The Everest Base Camp via Gokyo lake begins by a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airport, the entrance point of the Everest Region. We will also fly back from Lukla, when the trek ends.

You will be able to do this trek if you can walk up to 6 hours a day. There will be a couple of days for acclimatisation, where your body will also get some rest. If you are in doubt as to your physical fitness, please add a porter who can carry your backpack, when booking this package.

day 1 - Flight to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,656m)

From your hotel, drive to the domestic airport and fly to Lukla, which is a 35 minute picturesque flight, enjoying the snowy 8000 meter peaks, including the world's tallest peak, Mt. Everest (8848m). In Lukla, we meet the assisting team and begin to trek passing the stone wall, Nurning and reach to Phakding. Overnight at lodge.

day 2 - Trek to Namche (3,450m)

From Phakding, as we begin the trek, we can see the view of Kongde Ri. Passing a couple of bridges, we reach to Monjo and enter into the Sagarmatha National Park officially. Then, the trek goes through the steep ascending trail via Larja Dobhan and see the first sight of Mt. Everest in trekking before reaching the Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the bustling town of the Sherpa people in the Khumbu region. Overnight at lodge.

day 3 - Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar

Due to the increasing altitude, we need to acclimatize to the alpine weather. Namche Bazaar is one of the best place to take a day break and explore around. You can go for the hiking around Khunde and Khumjung along with the Everest view Hotel. The longest Mani wall in Khumbu, Khumjung Gompa and Khunde Hillary Hospital are the major attractions during your tour around. Overnight at lodge.

day 4 - Trek to Tengboche (3,860m/12660ft)

After the warm breakfast at Namche, we commence our excursion to Tengbuche passing several monasteries and other spiritual centers. Even the Himalayan views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku can be seen from the trail. Passing Kyanjungma, the mountain goats appear on the sloppy hill side. Then we walk through the gentle trail and passing Phunke Tenga, we reach to Tengboche. Overnight at lodge.

day 5 - Trek to Dingboche (4410m/14464ft)

Ascending through the stone steps, we begin to trek from Tengbuche after the breakfast. The Tengbuce monastery in this village has increased the charm of the trekking and has established as a spiritual center in Everest. We pass Debuche, Milingo and cross the River. Heading continuously, we cross the bridge at Somare and the flat trail begins. Following the Imja Khola, we reach to Dingbuche, located at 4410 meters altitude. Overnight at lodge.

day 6 - Day trip to Chhukung valley and back to Dingboche

We will start around 8:30 after breakfast. The trek up to Chhukung is quite nice and easy. We get a really nice view of most of the mountains specially Ama Dablam. The view from Chhukung and further up the valley on the moraines towards Island Peak is tremendous. To the south-west, the eastern face of Amadablam provides an unusual view of this picturesque peak. This short trek is one of the highlights of the trek. It is a fast trip back down the valley to Dingboche .

day 7 - Trek to Lobuche (4910m/1615ft) Duration: 6-7 hours.

After the breakfast at Dingbuche, we ascend through the steep trail to Lobuche via Dusa and Palrung Kharka. Crossing to the next side, we can see the tombstones of the climbers, whose life were gone during the Everest climbing session. Then we cross the Thukla Pass and reach to Lobuche, enjoying the outstanding views of Nuptse, Cholatse, Pumori, Khumbutse, Thamserku and others along with the Khumbu glacier. Overnight at lodge.

day 8 - Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m) & back to Gorak Shep

Making Khumbu glacier on the right, we commence from Lobuche, continually via Pyramid. With a steep ascend, we cross the Lobuche pass at 5110 meters and reach to Gorakshep. After lunch there, we walk to the Everest base camp. It is not a tough walk, but the altitude makes the journey steady. Spending wonderful time at Everest base camp, we trek down to Gorakshep (5140m/16994ft)

day 9 - Early morning climb up to Kalapather and then Dzongla

We will start the hike to Kalapatthar early in the morning. We spend some time enjoying the sunrise on the splendid Himalayan ranges, relishing in a unique view and experience and head back to Lobuche. From Lobuche, a six hours hike will take us to Dzongla which is the only place where we can spend the night.

day 10 - Cross Cho la pass (5420m) trek down to Tagnag(4600m)

Early morning, we start our walk from Dzongla to the Cho-la pass. The walk over the glacier is an enjoyable experience if we can make the trip during the best season otherwise excess snow makes it impossible to cross the pass. As the darkness returns we trek down to Tagnag to spend the night there.

day 11 - Trek to Gokyo (4800m) visit fifth lake back to Gokyo.

It is a short day trek as we reach Gokyo in about 4-5 hours just in time to have lunch. Then we spend the rest of the day exploring the Gokyo valley. We can also visit the glaciers and turquoise lakes of the Gokyo valley while witnessing the spellbinding views of the Himalayan giants like Everest, Cho-yu, Lhotse Makalu and others. We spend the night in Gokyo.

day 12 - Hiking up to Gokyo Ri then trek to Dole(4200m)

The upwards trek is quite a feat to Gokyo-RI. Every step of the steep climb is worth it once we reach the pass and see the astonishing views of the Gokyo valley, the Ngozumpa glacier and a panoramic scene of the Khumbu Himalayan giants. After spending some time there, we make our way down to Dole where we spend the night.

day 13 - Trek to Namche bazaar.

The trek from Dole to Namche Bazaar takes about six hours. During the course of the day, we cross the Khumjung village while walking on the base of Mount Amadablam. Once we reach Namche Bazaar, we rest and spend the night there.

day 14 - Trek to Lukla (2,800m)

From Namche, first we make our way towards Phakding which takes about 5-6 hours, and then a leisurely walk takes us to Lukla by evening where we spend the night in a hotel or a Sherpa village.

day 15 - Flight back to Kathmandu

We will fly back to Kathmandu early morning from Lukla. Here we will be transferred from the airport to the hotel.
