We were very happy and impressed with the experience we received on this trek. When we arrived in Kathmandu there was heavy rains and flooding that disrupted normal travel to the Everest region. Yet, this tour operator did an amazing job at organizing everything for us so that we didn’t miss anything and started on time. Our guide Pasang Tamang was amazing and friendly, and he did a fantastic job communicating with us and keeping us safe. Very highly recommend, and I hope to go on another trip with Pasang again.

Along the way, you’ll experience not only breathtaking mountain vistas but also the vibrant Sherpa culture—highlighted by a visit to the historic Tengboche Monastery, where Tibetan Buddhist traditions come alive. Your adventure begins in Kathmandu. Our representative will meet you at the airport on arrival and take you to your hotel in the city. Tonight you will stay in Thamel – Kathmandu's tourist district.
An early morning flight lasting around 30 minutes takes you from Kathmandu to Tenzing–Hillary Airport in Lukla. Follow a trail along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding, where your journey comes to an end today.
We have a relatively easy day ahead of us as we cross several bridges over the Dudh Kosi River and hike through the charming villages of Toc-Toc, Benkar and Monjo before arriving at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park.
Follow the trail along river banks for several hours and cross one last bridge. What follows is a steep, uphill hike that takes you to Namche Bazaar, a bustling town with many modern facilities such as restaurants, hotels, internet cafes and banks.
Today has been set aside in order to allow you to acclimatize before heading for higher altitudes. Health experts recommend being active during acclimatization to reap its maximum benefits. You have several options to choose from.
You can either book a hike to Thamel or visit Khunde. Alternatively, if your timing is right, you can also use this time to explore Namche Bazaar and check out its weekly market that takes place on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Your guide can also take you to the visitor center near the headquarters of Sagarmatha National Park that has an interesting display of equipment used by some of the first Everest climbers. While in the center, you can also learn more about the flora and fauna of the region.
Follow the wild torrents of the Dudh Kosi River as its freezing waters cascade down from mountains. The trail offers some stunning views of mountains as you hike to Tengboche, a Sherpa village famous for its monastery, home to decorative wall hangings and a six-meter statue of Buddha. Your highlight today will be attending an evening prayer at the monastery.
Today is a more relaxed day as you follow a relatively easy trail to Dingboche. The only exception is a steep hill which you will have to climb in the last part of this journey. Travel past the villages of Somare (4,010m) and Orsho. Further along the trail, you will encounter a fork in the path and take the trail to the left which heads for Pheriche Village. Your day comes to an end on reaching Dingboche.
Your second acclimatization day awaits you today. Make the most of your stay in Dingboche with a hike to Nangkartshang Gompa, situated on a ridge just north of Dingboche village. You can enjoy views of Mount Makalu (8,463m), the world’s fifth highest mountain, as well as Mount Ama Dablam from the viewpoint. You might also want to head for the summit of Nangkartshang Peak (5,090m) if you are feeling energetic enough.
Hike past Dughla before you encounter a fairly steep moraine at the base of the Khumbu Glacier. See piles of stones with prayer flags placed on top on ascending Chupki Lhara. This memorial was made in remembrance of Scott Fischer, an American mountaineer, and ten-time Everest summiteer Babu Chiri Sherpa (a Nepalese guide) who died while attempting to climb Mount Everest.
An array of towering peaks loom in front of you as you head for the Khumbu Glacier moraine. Spend your night in Lobuche.
Hike through the lakebed that is Gorakshep. Your journey gets tougher at this altitude. The trail is strewn with rocks, moraines and streams. The first thing that you will notice on reaching Everest Base Camp is the array of colorful tents of mountaineers waiting for the right condition to summit the mountain. Spend sometime in Everest Base Camp before heading back to Gorakshep.
Head for Kala Patthar in the pre-dawn darkness, when temperatures are between -10 to -14°C. There is also a possibility of encountering strong winds along the way. You can see peaks like Lingtren, Khumbutse and Changtse to your east long the way.
Reach the summit of Kala Patthar and take in the 360-degree view of the looming Mount Everest. Now is the time to take some awesome snaps of the Himalayas. Descend to Pheriche, where you will stay overnight.
Hike through rhododendron forest before reaching Tengboche and descend to Phunki Thenga, a settlement located on the banks of Imja Khola. Your day comes to an end on reaching Namche Bazaar.
Follow the trail back to Phakding and continue to Lukla. You can explore this Sherpa town on your own if you wish to. The trek has come to an end. Pat yourself on the back and enjoy the feeling of having accomplished this physically demanding trek.
Catch a morning flight back to Kathmandu. Check into your hotel in the city on arrival. You might want to do some last-minute shopping while in the city or catch up with friends. You can also unwind by wandering through Thamel if you wish to. Attend a celebratory dinner with us tonight.
We will drive you to the airport at least three hours prior to your departure schedule. We wish you a safe journey home and hope that your trip to Nepal will stay in your memories forever.
