One of the best treks of my life...and I have done >100! Ever changing mountain backdrop with countless >8000m snowcapped peaks and a blue sky to die for. Apart from the odd bit, the trekking was never too hard, and the tea houses were generally great along the way.
We had a great trip. Our fantastic guide Ram was very knowledgable and extremely entertaining with phenomenal English and took safety very seriously too. The conditions were superb and getting to cross Cho La pass so early in the season was a highlight alongside Everest views from Gokyo Ri. We were extremely fortunate in being able to complete the trip due to coronavirus and we are particularly grateful to the company for this factor.
I booked the Everest Base Camp - Cho-La Pass - Gokyo tour during November, and was very impressed with the professionalism and kindness of all the people I met who work at this tour agency. Chhattra is the owner of the business and is a very professional man, who gives thorough details of what to expect while trekking in the Himalaya. He was able to answer all my questions, and responded to all inquiries promptly, which made planning for this trip very easy. He gives excellent recommendations in regard to purchasing gear prior to trekking, if thats what you need. He also leant me a down jacket, sleeping bag, trekking poles and duffle bag which was very kind and VERY helpful for the cold weather! Our guide for the trek was Basu, and he was absolutely wonderful; very friendly, happy, kind, caring and very VERY knowledgeable about the mountains and surrounding Khumbu region. He is also a very patient and understanding man; I am not a fast walker, especially while hiking uphill at high altitude, and he happily stayed with me while the others in the group went on ahead. Unfortunately I got quite sick during the trek and wasnt able to complete the full itinerary. Basu was very understanding, and sent me off down the mountain to recover with one of our porters/assistant guide, Dilip, to make sure I was safe, and he adjusted my itinerary to maximise the time I had left while trekking to Mongla, where we met up for the remainder of the trek. He made sure that I was looked after well, and had everything that I needed to get better. Dilip was wonderful too; he is very kind and caring, and made sure that I had everything I needed and was happy after I had to spilt from the rest of the group due to feeling too unwell to continue with the heavier trekking. In another unfortunate turn of events, my bag accidentally got switched with someone elses when I split from the rest of the group, and I only realised once we arrived in Periche. I was happy to just wait until we met up with the rest of the group again, but Dilip went out of his way to go and switch my bag back at Thukla - a 2.5hr round trip, in the cold. Needless to say, I couldnt thank him enough. The kindness, understanding and patience I was shown by Basu and Dilip will never be forgotten. The porters are very helpful, friendly and kind; we definitely wouldnt have been able to do the trek without them! The loads they carry are huge, and they do it with a smile on their faces... Im still in awe of the weight that they carry while still being able to run up and down the mountain! Incredible! While the trek didnt pan out exactly as Id hoped, since I missed out on the Cho-La pass and Gokyo lakes due to becoming unwell, the operator team made sure that my trek was thoroughly enjoyable and memorable. I am immeasurably grateful to Chhattra, Basu and Dilip for making sure I was safe and happy during my two weeks in the Himalaya. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone interested in booking a trek through Nepal!
This trek was amazing! Our guide was friendly made sure that our safety was top priority and ensured that we were able to reach both of our desired locations even though it was monsoon season.
My favorite part of the trek was a retreat to the beautiful outdoors and the reminder that life is more about the journey than the destination. Arriving at Everest Base Camp is not the whole story. The joy comes through the 15 days of hiking the Himalayan mountain range, experiencing Nepali cuisine, and learning the strength and resilience of the Sherpa culture. Its about pushing your body and mind to new limits, becoming one with nature again, disconnecting from technology, and having deep conversations with people from all around the world and with yourself while walking along paths (and avoiding being trampled by the passing yaks). It is all about the journey.
I had a great trip and ended up having a great group! I was a solo female traveler. I shared room in the tea houses with another solo female traveler. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs (dont think you can buy them anywhere) because walls are very thin. Great trip overall. Some days were harder than others, but was expected. Be physically and mentally prepared! You can do it! Worth the great views and photos in the end! :)
An amazing trip to the top of the world and beyond! Fysically do able but the height is very intens and the facilities are extremely basic. A once of a lifetime experience but be well prepared for some intense days!
My girlfriend and I recently completed this trip with our guide Chandra. It was a fantastic experience. Chandra is an exceptional guide, and he made our experience amazing. While Cho La pass was closed due to bad weather, we had an amazing journey to Everest Base Camp and around the region.
Excellent and very friendly guides and great service. Could not have asked for anything more.
Excellent trekking experience with our guide, Narayan. Definitely memory for a life time.
I have nothing but positive words for Chhatra and his team. From the initial e-mail contacts with Chhatra to the final drop-off at the airport, the service was impeccable. Chhatra is an expert at what it takes to run a great tour company - delivering the best service with passion that would make a customer want to return. On the day I was to fly out to Lukla, my flight got cancelled. The sky at Lukla was closed. It was an unforeseeable event that no one has control of. At that moment, travelers like myself wanted solutions. Chhatra provided the solutions and did not let me down. He managed, to my surprise, to get me on a helicopter to Lukla. Once at Lukla, I met my guide, Dukpa Tamang, who took good care of me throughout the trek. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe trekking with Dukpa. He is very experienced, service-minded and a funny person to be around with. For example, would make sure I had enough water at the start of each day and made sure I got the best possible accommodation throughout the trip. Most importantly, he helped make my 14 days in the mountains memorable and enjoyable while sharing his knowledge of the local geography and customs of the Khumbu Region. I cant thank you enough, Dukpa! I highly recommend this company to anyone looking forward to trekking in Nepal - especially any solo female travelers and travelers from my native Thailand.
It was really a great trip to do with the family. It was hard and sometimes we were worried about the kids with the altitude, but everything went well and the landscape is incredible.
This trek was absolutely amazing. I had been thinking about it for the last 5 years and I'm so glad that I decided to just book and do it! You won't regret it! It is very hard and challenging at times so just be aware but the end destination and the whole experience makes it soooooo worth it! I would recommend this trek to people who love hiking and trekking and just being outdoors. Super cool views and a lifetime of memories.
One of the best experiences of my life. Would recommend this trek to everyone - especially solo female travellers!
Hiking the Everest Base Camp Cho-la Pass-Gokyo was one of the best experience of my life! Everything was absolutely perfect. The trail was quite challenging by moment but so worth it. The view was breathtaking, and the locals very nice and open minded.
I believe when you come to the Khumbu region, this is the trek to do. You do not go down the same main route, but instead cross a great pass to have one of the most amazing views imaginable at Gokyo peak!
I completed an EBC+Chola Pass trek in early April 2017 and I can strongly recommend the services of Chhatra and his tour company. The booking was easy and Chhatra promptly provided answers to all my queries.Walking poles, a warm down jacket and a warm sleeping bag were provided for the trek by the company and turned out to be very reliable. The trek itself was really well organised, porters always did a great job and went ahead of the group to book the accommodation. Our guides, Arun and Basu, spoke excellent English, were very knowledgeable and great characters all round. They were always helpful and accommodated all the needs of the group (slower/faster walking, photos, breaks, etc.). We stayed in the best possible teahouses with no major issues. Our group happened to be grounded in Lukla on the last day and Chhatra and the guides did a great job to get us on the flight the next day, even though there were loads of other stranded tourists. Overall the experience made me want to come back to Nepal and do another trek in future.
A group of friends and I completed the Everest Base Camp-Chola Pass trek, and we had a fantastic time! The views were remarkable, we loved immersing ourselves in the food and culture, and the weather was perfect. I enjoyed base camp but what blew me away were the views when crossing Chola pass and arriving at Gokyo lakes! Although some of us fell ill, myself included, our guide Raj and our porters (Bir and Marn) were very accommodating and patient in helping us throughout the two week period. Raj was a very knowledgeable and conscientious guide, and I'd recommend him if you were to embark on any trek in Nepal. Chhatra, the business owner who I organised the trek through, was very patient with all my questions over the course of a few months and we met in-person several times during our time in Kathmandu. I do have plans to undertake another trek in Nepal.
Great trip up to EBC. Arun was outstanding. Carried my daypack halfway up Namche on the second day, gave his Sancho to a girl in our group suffering from throat issues, helped other guides and trekking groups in trouble along the way. Super impressed with how kind and goodhearted people in Nepal are.
We just completed a 15-day trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp, Cho La pass and Gokyo. It was a truly great trip and very well organised. Particularly our guides, Keshab and Dhana, were great, they helped us understand about the Himalayas, the people and the culture which gave an even richer experience to the whole trip.
The views and environment are breathtaking. I didn't fully know what to expect when booking, which I think enriched my overall experience. I've never seen, and been surrounded by, such beautiful mountains. I've also never been so cold for such a prolonged period of time, but the pain is definitely worth the gain. Something I'll never forget.
I booked the Base Camp/Chola Pass/Gokyo trek. I couldnt have been happier with the trip. The Owner of my tour agency, Chattra, was extremely helpful in assisting me prepare for the trek. He was informative and timely in answering my questions. In addition, once in Kathmandu Chattra provided our group with some last minute recommendations to make sure that we were ready for the trek. While out in the mountains, our guide, Keshab, along with the assistant guide and porters were all fantastic. They catered to everyones needs and were always looking out for our safety. By booking the tour and having a guide it really helped alleviate much of the stress one would incur if they attempted to trek in the Himalayas guideless. Everything from our passes/permits, accommodation and food was taken care of. All we had to follow our guide and walk (which at times can be a litter harder than it sounds). Also, as a solo traveler I found it enjoyable to trek with a group. I was fortunate to meet some great people from all over the world. Oh, and of course the trek itself was amazing. The mountains were absolutely gorgeous. Clearly, Id highly recommended booking a trip with this company. Theyll provide you with a professional and care-free Himalayan trekking experience.
