Itinerary
Sun, safari, and the seaside—experience them all on the 7-day Kruger, Eswatini & Durban Camping tour. Kicking off in Pretoria and winding down in Durban, this guided beach tour covers Durban, Saint Lucia, Kruger National Park, and three additional destinations in South Africa. With all accommodation, transport, and meals included, this trip suits families eager to blend wildlife encounters with coastal exploration. The standout feature of this tour package is its balanced itinerary, offering both unforgettable safari moments and the chance to relax by the Indian Ocean, making it an excellent family adventure.
day 1 - Pretoria, South Africa to Hazyview Greater Kruger
Starting the day in Pretoria we set off on our adventure tour to Kruger National Park. On our journey we enjoy the mountain scenery of the Mpumalanga province along the Panorama route, where we stop off to marvel at the natural beauty of the Blyde River Canyon. In the late afternoon we arrive at our camp in the small town of Hazyview, adjacent to Kruger National Park.
day 2 - Hazyview Greater Kruger to Kruger National Park
This morning we wake early and meet our resident guides and board the 4x4 vehicles before setting off on a day of viewing the amazing wildlife that inhabits the Kruger National Park. Being one of Africas largest wildlife reserves a little larger than Belgium in size, Kruger offers an immense variety of animals, birds and reptiles to see including lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, elephant, zebra, hippo and more. With more than 500 species of birds, and a range of natural wilderness to explore, there is much to see in this Big 5 safari reserve. We spend the day out exploring with a break at a local camp over lunch, before returning to our camp in the late afternoon.
day 3 - Kruger National Park
We make our way back into the Kruger National Park this morning for a second game drive to carry on our search for the big 5 - elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino. We can choose to head back over the ground covered yesterday or discover a new area of the park today in search of the wildlife we have yet to tick off of our Kruger National Park bucket list. Have you spotted the African wild dogs or heard the iconic cry of the African Fish Eagle yet For travellers not taking the Adventure Pass, today is free to enjoy some other activities in the Hazyview area.
day 4 - Kruger to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Eswatini Swaziland
We continue our adventure tour, travelling along the edge of Kruger National Park and make our way to the Kingdom of Eswatini. Eswatini is landlocked between South Africa and Mozambique, with a fascinating culture and rich heritage. Arriving at Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary our base for the next two nights is Eswatinis oldest protected area located in the stunning Ezulwini Valley, Valley of Heavens.
day 5 - Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary
Today we make our way through the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary to the Royal Enclosure to learn about the history and culture of the Swazi monarchy, after being taken by a local Swazi guide though a traditional village. We also stop off at the markets en-route to admire the carvings, drawings and interesting trinkets on sale to support the local people. The afternoon is yours to enjoy some of the amazing activities on offer. Head out on a nature walk, explore on horse back, take a bike out into the grasslands, or alternatively spend the afternoon relaxing and watching the wildlife and birds as they visit the hippo pool.
day 6 - Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary to St Lucia, South Africa
We bid farewell to Eswatini and continue our adventure by crossing the border back into South Africa. Our camp is in St Lucia where we settle in and enjoy an afternoon cruise on the St. Lucia estuary - to see the magnificent fish eagle, hippo pods and crocodile found here.Situated at the southern end of the great Isimangaliso Wetland Park, this region is very rich in marine bird-life.
day 7 - St Lucia to Umhlanga near Durban
Relaxed and revitalised after a morning at leisure exploring this quaint town, its off to Durban - one of Africas largest ports - via picturesque pine forests and sugar cane fields. Our tour ends on arrival at Umhlanga Rocks. We suggest if time allows spending a few extra days here exploring this magnificent city and all the optional activities on offer.
