The salon music is performed by 3 members of the Zoltán Kodály Awarded Rajko Folk Orchestra. The performance also features a marvellous original Hungarian instrument, the famous “cimbalom”. The combination of string instruments and the cimbalom provides a uniquely Hungarian, unforgettable harmony and an outstanding atmosphere on-board. For those wanting to walk in the Castle District and see more than the Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion, this tour is meant just for you. This small area has seen more turmoil and prosperity than other parts of the country altogether. As the royal court, it served as the centre of administration and knowledge as well as the capital for long. King Matthias set up his observatory and library, the Turks stored gun-powder in the palace, several battles and sieges took place. Besides admiring the view of Pest, you can gain access to places excluded from guidebooks on our Fabulous tour! Several battles and sieges took place in our city. The last was the blood-drenched siege of 1944-45 winter at the end of WWII (you can still see bullet holes on some buildings). For weeks the Buda castle citizens found a refuge in the mostly naturally created cave system under today’s nicely restored houses. Yes, there is a 3-level cave system undernearth the Buda Castle hill. We usually say Buda is like a town within the city – it’s so compact with all you need for modern everyday life but it’s also like a bubble and a time capsule.

Great trip. Journey from Passau to Budapest by cycle was very manageable for the two of us. Distances were not too demanding. All accommodation and luggage transfer was well organized and without problems. First half, from Passau to Vienna was probably more scenic than second half and may suit those wanting a shorter trip.

Outstanding tour itinerary with lots of interesting places. Many of these not on the usual tour map. We had an excellent tour guide Kinga Gyokeres who entertained us with local history, occasional local songs (excellent voice), and was able to fix any minor problems we had. Bus was a bit small but allowed us to get to smaller sites. Good safe driver Mirek.

Tour was well organised to ensure we had a taste of all popular tourist attractions, the tour leader (Callum Piper) worked hard to ensure we had the best experience. The coach driver (Sonny) was very skilled and made us all feel safe, nothing was too much trouble and he always had a smile. Would not recommend this tour to anyone with injuries.

Total whirlwind. Saw all the highlights of the 28 cities/regions we visited across, I think, 15 countries in 22 days. Tour was well organized and excursions were fun and allowed us to experience more of the culture. Lots of early mornings and late nights but that was expected. Sonny was an incredible driver, friendly, prompt, engaging and kind. Our tour leader, Callum ‘Blinky’ Pyper was friendly, full of historical and local knowledge, patient and kind. We couldn’t have asked for better people to guide us on the tour. Our fellow passengers were an eclectic fun mix of nationalities and cultures which made the trip even more enjoyable.
