There is very little 'free' time and a lot of time spent on the coach. We were given 'free' time usually at the end of the day when we were very tired after travelling all day and would have preferred to go back to our hotel. We were dropped off and left to wander for 1.5-2hrs, sometimes in the rain, which wasn't ideal. I don't consider this free time at all and I had no autonomy on what was or was not occurring. I felt that the additional tours were prioritised over other passengers and we would often have to wait for them to return on day tours. On several occasions when it was raining, those booking additional tours would leave for the trips and we were told to go and have 'free' time and return at a specific time, wandering aimlessly through lots of lots of shops selling the same souvenirs. My partner queried, why so many additional experiences were not included and cost extra.
We often got to a town late in the afternoon and were unable to see much of it before retiring for the day and then were off again for the next destination. The best days were when we had two days to enjoy a city. Sometimes we would only stop at a city for a photo or just drive through, which I felt was a waste of our time as we didn't really get to appreciate anything about where we travelled.

If you're considering the Trafalgar Britain & Ireland Grandeur tour, be prepared to keep moving - this is a fast-paced 20-day adventure with very little downtime. If you're active, mobile, and enjoy travelling with a diverse group of people, you'll have a fantastic time.
The itinerary is packed with unforgettable experiences, from visiting Stonehenge and the beautiful city of Bath to standing on the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher and the Giant's Causeway. Along the way, you'll enjoy Irish dancing, learn about Ireland's fascinating history, sample Guinness at its source, explore the stunning Scottish Highlands, taste traditional local food and drink, and visit the place where the Beatles first made their name.
One of the biggest highlights is the Trafalgar team. The tour director is incredibly knowledgeable and knows how to keep everything running smoothly, including finding ways to minimise queues and recommending excellent local pubs and restaurants. The coach driver is equally impressive, handling all the luggage efficiently so you can simply enjoy the journey.
It's a well-organised tour that covers an enormous amount in just 20 days. While the schedule is busy, the variety of destinations and experiences makes it an excellent way to see the highlights of Britain and Ireland without the stress of planning everything yourself.

It was great that we stopped in towns rather than service areas in small beautiful towns but longer time frames would have been nice. More time in Skye as we really didn't get to see much, unless you paid for an optional experience. The hotel in the Scottish highlands after visiting Collonden was a gem beautiful outlook and very good service, not long enough. Extra night and visit Loch Ness. Our tour guide and driver worked well as a team. Overall great but very busy.
