Reviews of our England Tours for May
Feedback from guests who toured England during May.
Best itinerary. I wanted to see castles, and I got to see an eyeful. Being able to explore inside with a tour guide was great. Being able to walk around an be in the rooms was amazing. The coaches were wonderful. Roomy. Air conditioned. Enough room to store a day bag. The hotels were great. In a nice location. The bed and bathroom were great for a big man like me. The beds were super comfy. Big enough for a big guy to stretch out in. Lighting was great so I could watch TV and do some reading. Staff was wonderful in every hotel. Everything was A++. Great price. Great service all around.
Great tour and well paced. Saw and experienced sights we would not have seen if I was driving around in a hire car. Tour leader Giovanni Braida was excellent along with his driver Ryan. Touring in a Small group is also so much better that a bus with 40 off people. This is our second 'Backroads' tour and would not hesitate doing more.
We loved Oxford, Scotland Highlands, Skye and the Orkney Islands. Also loved Ireland, would have liked more time in Limerick City than just one night. Cork City, Derry & Blarney were very memorable. Really enjoyed the Killarney Celtic Steps excellent show (seats need to be spread out) and the Welsh concert dinner evening (food and music outstanding). Loved all the local expert city walking tours, and countryside visits to Glendalough, Dartmoor, Killarney & dinners at Heskyn Mill & Torpichon. Glasgow was a very quick stop, seemingly only for dinner & staying in a very nice hotel. On the downside, at the Dublin Three Rock cabaret the dinner was mass produced & the show a bit hard to see through the crowd. The Norseman Hotel at Wick was disappointing as the towels were frayed at the edges and one doona cover was ripped. Overall we really enjoyed the tour.
The 10 day London to Italy trip was fast paced with early mornings, but it was amazing. I loved the group interactions and the tour director was amazing. She was positive and funny. She was a wealth of information. She interacted with the group but also made time for any individuals that needed a little extra. The daily travel plus the extra excursions are well planned. There was no pressure to do anything that someone wasn’t interested in. I felt included in everything, by the end of the 10 day trip, the group felt like a family.
The staff was very helpful to me. I had to wear a hinged knee brace and use walking sticks because I was recovering from a fractured kneecap during my trip. I had completed the special needs form so I had handicap accessible rooms and first floor rooms during my tour which was very helpful. I liked the mix of scheduled tours and free time. I did less exploring on my own than I normally would due to my knee injury. So I mainly rested during that time. I especially love the old architecture of the cities we visited.
This trip was a great introduction tour of the UK and Ireland. Very fast paced as far as mikes covered, but it didn’t make you feel rushed. The coach was very clean and comfortable. Only one hotel room was a bit cramped, but all the others were great. The breakfasts at ALL the hotels were above my expectations!
