Looking for a Himalayan adventure that’s as breathtaking as it is accessible? The Poonhill trek is crafted for seniors and families seeking a memorable journey through Nepal’s most iconic panoramas. Starting in Pokhara, this tour leads you along gentle trails through charming villages and lush forests, ascending gradually to a maximum altitude of 3,210 meters.
The trek’s highlight is the early morning ascent to Poonhill, where a spectacular sunrise reveals the entire Himalayan range in all its majesty, with Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna I (8,091m) glowing in the morning light. Along the way, you’ll traverse the famed 3,000 stone steps to Ghorepani and wander through enchanting rhododendron forests, pausing to take in the dramatic views of Machapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Gangapurna.
This trek isn’t just about the scenery; it’s also about the experience. You’ll unwind in hot springs, explore inviting villages, and fly back to Pokhara after your adventure. The route is designed with comfort in mind, making it achievable for anyone with reasonable fitness and a love for the outdoors.
The unique selling point here is the combination of awe-inspiring mountain vistas and a route that remains accessible and enjoyable for seniors, families, and first-time trekkers alike. If you’re dreaming of Himalayan magic without strenuous demands, this is the trip for you.

The organisation, the guide, the treatment, and the weather despite the monsoon were excellent. 100% recommended!
Trekking with the local tour agency was excellent. it was well organized and the tea houses were already booked. They made the whole trek experience memorable
Amazing experience , many many Stairs /steps and fantastic view , and with some support and tenacity can be done by a 9 years old
Ghorepani poon hill is scenic trek. we had excellent time with the tour company and our guide .
We never hiked before, so we selected this one and it's a good introduction. A few hard parts (going up to Ulleri 400m on day one, all steps; combining poon hill with hike from Gorepani to Tadapani) but doable. Gorgeous nature and never too busy or congested. three remarks - on the hot springs on day four: these are two stone basins of about 3-4m by 9-10m and pretty crowded. It's more of a party atmosphere than a relaxing soak after a day's hike. Two of our group skipped it, me and another person went and thought it average. - The sunrise on poon hill is beautiful, but crowded, you're there with about 100+ trekkers. However, this was not bothersome. Other people decided to sleep in and went for the sunset and were equally happy. - as a novice, consider trekking poles or a bamboo stick for balance on the downhill parts, and a slight aid on the steeper uphill parts. I was very happy I brought them along.
This five-day trek, along with a few days of Kathmandu and Pokhara, provided a great sampling of Nepal and the Annapurnas. The trek was just hard enough to make me feel Id earned the fantastic views of sunrise and those looming mountains. I hiked this route six years ago and enjoyed it so much I came back this year to do it again.
Only 5 days trek with a night before and after in Pokhara. Great views each day. Minimal walking on roads, beautiful paths. Quite diverse. Boosts great views of the mountains!
Very nice round trip with a lot of steps. Many tee houses where you find food and drinks. Clean area with baskets everywhere
The trek was gorgeous and scenic. Take your time on the hike. It was a bit hard on my knees and calves because of the endless stairs, but totally worth the pain. My guide was very accommodating, patient, and flexible, which I really appreciated.
The Poon Hill trek encapsulates all the beauty of the Himalayas in a short 5 day trip, perfect for those looking for a succinct introduction into Nepals incredible landscape.
I wish i had known to fly from Katmandu to Pokhara and save myself the stress and fear travelling by bus. On the way back the agency helped me to book ticket on the plane.
Great landscapes, good walks, sometimes harder than others but never unmanageable. Very good trek and great for my first.
Beautiful view not too difficult for the beginner. Bhim, our guide is superb! We are family of 3, everyone enjoy the trek and view very much. Each day view is different. Trek up and down is so much fun even tired. The guesthouse we stayed is has the same standard some need a little clean care. We love the trip very much and will be back to trek with this team!
I planned to do this trek solo with local tour agency and I was hesitant at first. When I arrived in Nepal, Raj, the owner of the company, welcomed me at the airport. He was really nice and very friendly. Even though I did this trek off-season, the trek was amazing, especially if you have Rajan, the guide tour, as your guide. He was a great and friendly companion. In addition to the amazing views I saw, he made the trek more enjoyable. I really recommend it with him. Thanks for the great time
We had an excellent time on our Poon Hill Trek! Our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating of our groups varied hiking speeds. We went in May so it was not necessary to carry the down jacket or sleeping bag with us.
This trek was amazing. I had never done one before and they were extremely organized and answered any questions I had prior to the trip (specifically Raj our trek manager). Our guide Ram was a blast. Knowledgeable and fun to be around. Definitely recommend!
It was my first time to Nepal and the local travel operator made it great. The guides, the organisation, and the trek itself were great.
We are 3 girls that are not well prepared to trek and, because of this, we choose to do the Poon Hill trek with a guide. There are so many stairs... but the views of the Annapurna at the top worth the effort!!
