Dare to scale one of Nepal’s highest trekking peaks? The 14-day Mera Peak Climb is the ultimate adventure for young adults eager to experience Himalayan mountaineering without technical demands. Your journey starts with a thrilling flight to Lukla, followed by a trek through remote Sherpa settlements and breathtaking alpine landscapes. After acclimatizing, you’ll tackle the summit of Mera Peak (6,654m), facing moderate slopes and a final ridge ascent that rewards you with an awe-inspiring panorama of Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu. The tour’s unique appeal lies in offering the exhilaration of a Himalayan summit to trekkers of varying experience, blending challenge with the safety and expertise of professional guides.

day 1 - Fly to Lukla (2,800 m) & trek to Chutanga (3,450 m)

Start the day with an early morning flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. It is a scenic flight of around 35 minutes in a small airplane. After landing in Tenzing-Hillary Airport, you will meet the rest of the team members and get briefings on the journey further ahead. The trek to Chutanga marks the beginning of the journey. It is a three-to-four-hour walk that takes you through pine and rhododendron forests to your campsite.

day 2 - Trek to Khark Tang (3,750 m)

The trail continues through oak and rhododendron forests that make for a pleasant walk. A slight ascent is followed by a steep hike that continues for about two hours. Call it a day on reaching Khark Tang.

day 3 - Trek to Chhetra Thu (4,350 m)

Continue your ascent to Chhetra La, from where the views of the Himalayas are much more better. Thereafter, you will hike through a leveled trail for about half an hour before an hour-long downhill journey takes you to Chhetra Thu, where you will spend the night.

day 4 - Trek to Khothey (3,600 m)

Your journey continues on a leveled trail for about an hour to reach a viewpoint from where a beautiful view of Mera Peak can be seen. Hike through oak and juniper forests, then descend for about two hours, passing through Thakthor and Kote, two small highland settlements. Your journey comes to an end on reaching Khothey.

day 5 - Trek to Thangnak (4,350 m)

Journey past the grazing fields of Gondishung and head for a small monastery beneath an overhanging rock formation. The valley narrows as you move closer to the western peak of Mera. You will hike for around five hours today.

day 6 - Rest day in Thangnak (4,350 m)

Spend a day acclimatizing in Thangnak and allow your body to get used to a higher elevation. Climb up to a glacier (5,000 m) in the morning hours and soak up the views of Mera Peak. Get back to your accommodation and have lunch. You might also get the chance to venture to Sabai Tsho, a glacial lake, after the lunch.

day 7 - Trek to Khare (4,900 m)

The journey to Khare takes about five to six hours from Thangnak. The trail gets steep and bends at places before passing along the moraine of the Dig Glacier to reach Dig Kharka. Spectacular views of Charpati Himal and other peaks can be enjoyed today. Ascend along the last section of the trail to reach the base camp at Khare, your final destination of the day.

day 8 - Trek to Mera Peak Base Camp (5,350 m) and high camp

Today’s hike is short and takes you to the base camp of Mera Peak. It starts with a gradual ascent to the Mera Glacier. The journey is steep in the beginning but eases out as you move higher to reach a long flat trail leading to Mera La (5,400 m).

A short descent from that point leads to Mera Peak Base Camp. Continue your ascent along flat trails atop glaciers to Mera High Camp. Take in the spellbinding views of snow-capped peaks from up close. We will then set up a tent and prepare for the next day’s ascent.

day 9 - Summit Mera Peak (6,654 m) and descend to Khare

Your journey begins early today. Wake up at 1:00 am and prepare for the climb. Head for the summit at around 2:00 am. Although the climb is mostly easy, the final ascent requires an ice axe as well as crampons and ropes. See the glittering peaks of Kanchenjunga, Everest and Makalu as you continue your journey up.

Clamber to the top of Mera Peak and spend some time taking in the up-close, panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyo, Lhotse, Makalu and many other peaks in the Himalayas. Continue your journey downhill thereafter and follow the trail back to Khare.

day 10 - Trek to Khothey

Your trail travels to Khothey via Thangnak. Since it mostly involves a downhill journey, you will find the hike quite relaxing today.

day 11 - Trek from Kothe to Zatrabok

It will take you around six hours to reach Zatrabok. Although the trail is steep all the way to Zatrabok, it is not boring at all since you will find yourself traveling through forests and green hills.

day 12 - Trek from Zatrabok to Chutanga

Today’s hike takes almost five hours. Continue your uphill journey all the way to the Zatrawala Pass after which you will descend to reach Chutanga. Please note that today’s route is rocky at places, which requires you to be extra careful.

day 13 - Trek from Chutanga to Lukla

Lukla, where your hike ends, is about four hours away from Chutanga. Enjoy your downhill journey through forests of fir, rhododendron, oak and juniper trees.

day 14 - Fly back to Kathmandu
