Gokyo Valley Trekking - 12 Days

We were a pair, that just finished the Gokyo trip. The experience was amazing, and the local operator (Dipak, our guide Bhanu, and all others that helped) did a great job. My girlfriend was worried by altitude sickness, and we had a slow and steady trek, and in the end, we both managed to "climb" to the 5360 m high Gokyo Ri! We are very grateful to our local tour operator for this experience. The weather was amazing (I really recommend going in mid October), and so were the views of course! The culture, nature, food and overall exercise you will do on this trek are amazing. Moreover, after Namche Bazar, it becomes much less crowded (due to the fact, that hundreds go to see Everest Base Camp), and we really wanted to avoid the crowds. The Gokyo valley is peaceful, serene, and offers breathtaking views on Cho Oyu troughout the trek, and on Sagarmatha (Everest) on several occasions (basically, everytime you "climb" a bit higher).

The Gokyo Valley Trek was excellent, the local operator was responsible and accurate in the tour. I suggest this trek to anyone searching for separate tour from all the EBC trekkers and searching for a romantic get away.

We visited Nepal in February 2017. Excellent 12 days Gokyo Valley Trekking trip with the local tour operator. The Owner of the company Mr. Dipak was very fantastic. Overall, it was a good experience.

Went from November 24-Dec 5, I thought it was a great time to go if you prefer less crowds. I chose Gokyo rather Than EBC for the same reason. The sky's were crisp and clear most of the time. The drawback is the Temperature is cold. Note: all tea houses have no heat other than a stove in the eating area which will only be lit for about 2 hours per day. Plan on dressing warm! The rooms were all good, My guide spoke good English, the porter was friendly, but almost no English. The tour operator took care of my airport pickup and should come through with the drop off when I leave after some extra days in he country. All was as promised and had a great trip! I'd recommend maybe instead of doing the direct return hike, take the alternate return. I didn't know about it, but maybe nice to have a different return walk... even if it may not be as picturesque. Of course the return on the same trail is a little different because the views are taken while looking the opposite direction.

Everything was well organised. Nothing to complain. Also we did Kathmandu guided tour.

This is an excellent trek and a little different from ABC and EBC. Less busy but with great views changing all the time. The lakes, glacier and views of Everest are all highlights. If you make the top of Gokyo Ri the views 360 degrees are amazing. I am only an averagly fit walker and had no problems.
