Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport where you will be warmly welcomed by our representative. Check in to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore this historic and vibrant city.
We have an early morning flight from Kathmandu International Airport to Lukla Airport and then a trek to Phakding. Descending above farmlands we pass through Sherpa villages of Chheplung, Ghat and Sano and Thulo Gumela and shrines and monasteries of Drangdrak Gompa and Pema Choling Gompa with breathtaking views of sacred mountain Kumbila and sister summits Kusum Kanguru peaks.
Heading for Namche Bazar, we cross through the hamlet of Zamphute and Tok Tok to see dazzling Thamserku. Passing through the scenic Sherpa villages of Benkar, Chumoa and Monjo, we reach Utche Choling Gompa on a bluff abutting the Dudhkoshi river and further we make our way between the bluff to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO declared World Heritage Site. Halfway to Namche Bazar, we begin climbing a steep section. Cross through the last village of Jorsale, where a steep, stepped path leads us to an amazing high bridge over the Dudhkoshi River gorge. As we take the final steps uphill, we reach the heights of Namche from where we can have a first look at Mount Everest, peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Finally, after about 1.5km, we reach Namche Bazar.
This is a day for rest and acclimatization. There are many things to explore around Namche and great mountain views to savor. Acclimatizing in Namche is important for the onward trek and to help the body to adapt to the high altitude. If it is Saturday, we can enjoy the colorful Saturday market.
From Namche, we take an easy trail that cuts around the ridge from Chhorkung to reach the end of a bluff which is a viewpoint over a grand panorama of peaks, from Thamserku to Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Everest. From here we reach Kyangjuma (3550m) and a short walk from there takes us to an important trail junction at Sanasa (3600m) from where we take the trail to Tengboche which runs gently downhill towards the river. We might see musk deer and Himalayan tahr among the trees. A kani and a pair of chortens mark the start of Tengboche village which is scattered across a wide, grassy saddle below a crescent-shaped ridge covered by scrub pines and rhododendrons. The focal point of Tengboche is the famous Tengboche monastery.
From Tengboche, the trail descends steeply towards Phunki Tenga (3250m) crossing the Dudhkoshi river. Passing by the several villages and numerous teashops, the trail steeply ascends to Sanasa which is a place for local Sherpa to sell the Tibetan goods. The way to Namche has many small ups and downs with stunning views of forests, scenery and mountains.
Today's trekking follows the Dudh Kosi down to Lukla, retracing the way we came up.
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu today. Prepare for the next day's drive to Chitwan National Park or roam around in the market.
From Kathmandu, we drive to Chitwan, a name which means ‘heart of the jungle’. It is famous for being one of the premier wildlife-viewing national parks in Asia and we will have an excellent chance of spotting one-horned rhinos, deer, monkeys, and many species of birds. The reserve protects over 932 sq km of Sal forests, water marshes, and rippling elephant grassland.
Today we'll participate in some of the most famous activities in Chitwan such as jungle walks, canoe rides, wildlife spotting, elephant feeding and others.
We drive back from Chitwan to Kathmandu and are dropped at the hotel. In the evening you will be invited to join a farewell dinner reviewing great photos and sharing experiences of the trip.
Continue your trip in Nepal with another adventure with us such as rafting or mountain biking, or move on to your next destination. Goodbye!
