After a 40-minute flight on one of the most beautiful air routes in the world, above the rolling green hills and constantly besides the white Himalayas, we reach the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla.
Upon arrival at Lukla, we meet our other crew, complete some some packing and arrangements, and start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla to Phakding.
To assist in acclimatization, we only have a short hike on the day. However, if interested in additional activities, we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight in Phakding.

day 4 - Phakding - Namche Bazaar
Walk through a beautiful pine forest and cross many suspension bridges on a track along the Dudh Koshi River. First, we catch glimpses of the glistening Mt. Thamserku (6,618 m). Through the settlement of Benkar, Chumoa and Monjo, we come to the check post and entrance to Sagarmatha National Park.
Pass through the last village of Jorsale before reaching Namche Bazaar. The trail climbs through the forests and bridges until we reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. After a final steep ascent of about two hours, we get our first sight of Mt. Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge.
Upon this juncture, we stop at a chautara to admire the view. We still need to hike about 1.5 hours to reach Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mt. Everest and main trading centre of this region. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.
Duration:5 - 6 hours

day 5 - Namche Bazaar acclimatization day
This is a scheduled acclimatization day for the trek. Health experts recommend that we stay active and moving during the rest day too instead of being idle. We will either spend the day taking a hike to Thame or visiting Khunde or exploring Namche Bazaar itself.
Namche Bazzar is the main centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday.
If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us properly acclimatize. Our guides will take you to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the Everest region ecosystem.
We also take an interesting side trip up to Khumjung. We further climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel, a deluxe hotel with great views of the highest mountains on earth. The Khumjung valley, surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kongde, Thamserku and the sacred peak of Khumbila, hosts a well-known monastery that houses a yeti scalp.
After lunch, we walk back down to Namche Bazzar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Accommodation:Yeti Mountain Home or similar hotel. Other

day 6 - Namche Bazzar - Deboche
After breakfast, we start our trek to Pangboche while enjoying a superb view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and a close-up view of Thamserku. Our trek follows on a gradual trail with few ups and downs, overlooking a magnificent view of the great Himalayas.
Along the way, we can spot wildlife like pheasant, musk deer or a herd of Himalayan Thar. The trail gradually descends to Kayangjuma and eventually reaches Sansa, a major trail junction to Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp.
The track then pass pine forests and, after crossing the prayer-flag festooned bridge over Dudh Koshi River, reach Phunki Thenga. The hamlet has a couple of teahouses and a small army post amidst the alpine woods.
After enjoying a relaxed lunch at Phunki Thenga, we have a tough, steep climb to Tengboche. Tengboche is a great place for close-up views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse and Everest, and it has the biggest Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region. Walking along rhododendron forests for about an hour, we reach Deboche for an overnight stay.
Duration:5 - 6 hours
Accommodation:Hotel Rivendell. Other
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
day 7 - Deboche - Dingboche
Today, we pass through several chortens, mani walls and small villages. We will have lunch with fantastic close-up views of Ama-Dablam.
In the afternoon, we go north to Pheriche or take an eastward trail beneath the towering north face of Ama Dablam. From here onwards, the walk is fairly moderate as we enter the Imja Valley. The valley will begin to open up as we approach the confluence of the Lobuche River. Later, we descend into the river and begin the last and steepest climb of the day up to Dingboche.
At Dingboche, we will be met by beautiful fields of the barley, buckwheat and potatoes enclosed by stonewalls to protect them from the cold winds and grazing animals.
Overnight in Dingboche at a local lodge.
Duration:4 - 5 hours
Accommodation: Guest house
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
day 8 - Dingboche - Duglha
We start the day with a climb to Duglha through the Khumbu Khola valley. The trek along the arid terrace is rewarding with awesome views of mountains on all sides.
As we come to a yak herding pastures in Dusa, the valley begins to narrow. We continue through Phulung Karpo, the location of the campsites during the first successful Everest expedition in 1953. The majestic view of Mt. Pumori (7,138 m/ 23,418 ft) comes into view.
As we ascend to Duglha, we can see the tip of Nuptse as well as Cholatse and Thamserku, among others, from a juncture. Spend the night in Duglha, also an ideal way for acclimatization. Overnight at a local guest house.
Duration:3 - 4 hours
Accommodation: Guest house
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
day 9 - Duglha - Lobuche
Beyond Duglha, we trek up the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. We find our way through a boulder-strewn slope as we ascend Chupki Lhara, an eerie ridge top with dramatic mountains views.
At the top of the ridge, we will find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memorials to Scott Fischer (an American mountaineer) and 10-time Everest submitter, Babu Chiri Sherpa (mountain guide from Nepal), who perished on a mission to Everest.
As the trail drops, we find ourselves right in front of several great peaks: Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. We are now near Everest but the great mountain still remains hidden. Nuptse towers to our right as the trail crosses the Khumbu Glacier.
We trek along a murmuring stream. We do not see the Khumbu glacier because of its lateral moraine wall. Here, you might begin to feel a little out of breath due to the high altitude. Overnight in Lobuche at a local lodge.
Duration:2 - 3 hours
Accommodation: Guest house
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
day 10 - Lobuche to Gorak Shep; visit Everest Base Camp
The trail to Gorak Shep goes through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. On the trail, we see the crest of the north ridge of Everest along with Mt. Pumori, Mahalangur, Lingtern, Khumbutse and Nuptse. A small ascent will take us to Thangma Riju from where we get a 360-degree vista of the Himalayas.
Upon climbing steeply up to the top through the torrent of the Changri glacier, we catch our first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey-green knoll beneath the Mt. Pumori.
After a quick lunch and rest, we take the trail to the Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing straight ahead, we pass the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. As we reach the Everest Base Camp, we see colourful tents splattered across the dull gray surroundings (especially in during spring).
We will get glimpses of Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori from the base camp but not the towering Everest in front us. We have met the ultimate objective of our trip.
The sunset view from Kala Patthar is more admirable than the sunrise view, so it is recommended that you visit Kala Patthar in the evening. The views of the golden sun-kissed mountains during sunsets are truly unforgettable.
For trekkers who wish to continue to Kala Patthar, Himalayan Glacier guides and Sherpas will coordinate an evening hike instead of a morning one the next day. Overnight in Gorak Shep at a local lodge.
Duration: 6-7 hours
Accommodation: Guest house
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
day 11 - Gorak Shep - Kala Patthar - Pheriche
Today is the climax of our trip. We start the day before the break of dawn to catch dramatic views of the first light of day shining on Mt. Everest from Kala Patthar. Early mornings here are dark and cold (-10 to -14 C) with the chances of chilly winds, so we will need to prepare according before setting out.
Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse and Changtse tower to the east as Everest begins to reveal itself. During the ascent to Kala Patthar, we can pause to catch our breath at several outstanding viewpoints and snap pictures.
As we reach the top, we sit on the Kala Patthar rocks and soak up the unbelievable Himalayan panorama, our eyes wandering from one mighty massif to another. Take as many pictures as possible to make the moment last for a lifetime. Return to Gorak Shep for breakfast.
Those visitors who plan to visit the Everest Base Camp today will have an early breakfast to start early. The Everest Base Camp hike takes longer (4-5 hrs) than the Kala Patthar one. Upon returning to Gorak Shep, the groups will have lunch together and descend to Pheriche for a good night’s rest.
Today, we trek down through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. During spring, the hills are ablaze with pink and red rhododendron flowers.
Depending on our hunger and condition, we either have our lunch in Pangboche or wait until we reach Phunki Tenga. We cross Sansa and stop at Kyangjuma (3,570 m/11,710 ft) for a relaxed lunch. The trail to Namche Bazaar clings to steeply wooded slopes with winding bends, while keeping a lookout for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards and colorful pheasants.
Before reaching Namche Bazaar, we can take a long, last look back (and picture!) of Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche.
Relax with a nice, hot shower in your hotel in Namche Bazaar.
Duration:6 - 7 hours
Accommodation:Yeti Mountain Home or similar hotel. Other
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
day 13 - Namche Bazaar - Lukla
The trail descends steeply so we need to walk slowly, keeping our shaky legs in control over the rocky terrain. After crossing the suspension bridges over the fast flowing Dudh Koshi and its tributaries, the trail becomes flatter.
Today onwards we start getting warmer breezes. Although we are travelling the same route down, we have completely different views. We walk through the Sherpa villages, noticing the impressive Buddhist culture.
Upon arrival in Lukla, we stretch those sore legs and reminisce about the epic journey we have taken. Stay the night in Lukla.
Duration:6 hours
Accommodation:Yeti Mountain Home or similar Lodge. Other
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
day 14 - Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu
Today, we fly back to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey early in the morning. You can rest and relax throughout the day at your hotel in Kathmandu, choose to explore the city.
To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, we will have a farewell dinner in the evening. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Accommodation:3 Star Hotel at Yatri Suites & Spa or Hotel Moonlight or Similar
Meals:Breakfast, Dinner
day 15 - End of the journey
The journey comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails and share photos. If you have more time, you can do some shopping or sightseeing.
A representative from Himalayan Glacier will drop you off at the airport approximately three hours before your scheduled flight.
