Itinerary
If reaching Everest Base Camp sounds daunting, yet you yearn for Himalayan grandeur, the "Everest Base Camp Helicopter Trek" offers an accessible, family-friendly alternative. Your adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, followed by an easy-paced trek through the serene Sagarmatha National Park to Namche Bazaar and Thame—home of legendary mountaineer Tenzing Norgay. The real showstopper? A helicopter ride over the Everest region, delivering breathtaking aerial views of Mount Everest, Everest Base Camp, and neighboring peaks. This trip is ideal for families or anyone who wants to experience the region’s natural beauty and trekking culture without the rigors of a full trek. All arrangements—accommodation, transport, and guided sightseeing—are included, ensuring a comfortable, unforgettable Himalayan journey.
day 1 - Arrive in Kathmandu & transfer to hotel
Our representative will pick you up from the airport as soon as you arrive and take you to the hotel as per the itinerary. Rest for a few hours before joining us to discuss the trip. If you arrive at night, the meeting will be held the following day. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.
day 2 - Full-day guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu
Your sightseeing trip starts after breakfast. Meet your tour guide, hop into a private vehicle and head out to explore the city. Included in the itinerary are the Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the holiest shrines of Buddhism that is located on top of a hill; Pashupatinath Temple, a Unesco World Heritage site that is one of the most important centers of Hinduism; and Boudhanath Stupa, a Buddhist heritage that is said to have been built more than one and a half millennia ago.
You will also visit the famous Patan Durbar Square and get the chance to feast your eyes upon some of the masterpieces of Newari architecture. Drive back to your hotel after the sightseeing tour is over and spend your night in the capital city.
day 3 - Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu & trek to Phakding
Depending on the rules of the aviation authority of the Nepal government, you will either fly to Lukla from Kathmandu itself or drive to Manthali (this town is located around five hours away from Kathmandu) and catch your flight from there.
Whatever the case might be, you will leave the city early in the morning. Meet your guide on landing in Lukla, learn more about the upcoming journey, and enjoy your first meal (breakfast) in the mountains. Kick-off your first day of trekking with an easy walk through Chaurikharka until you arrive in Phakding. See dzhos, donkeys, and yaks along the way and hike through thickets of rhododendrons. Phakding is a small village located on the bank of the Dudh Koshi River and your final destination today.
day 4 - Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Continue your journey after breakfast. Follow the Dudh Koshi River and cross numerous suspension bridges along the way. Numerous chortens, prayer flags, and small stupas add a dose of spiritualism to your journey. Reach a small village called Mojo after walking for around two hours. This village is also an entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. Get your permits done and continue to Jorsale.
Your day comes to an end on reaching Namche Bazaar, the de facto capital of the Everest region.
day 5 - Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar
As we head higher, our body needs to adapt to the atmosphere. This is the reason why you have an acclimatization day today. Thankfully, Namche and its surrounding areas are worth exploring. Hike to Everest View Point and visit the famous Everest View Hotel. This hotel is regarded as the highest star-rated hotel in the world and it is located at an elevation of 3,880 meters.
Enjoy superb views of the majestic Himalayas and see some of the highest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest. Visit the Sherpa Museum to learn more about the vibrant cultures and traditions of these people.
Return back to your hotel after the trip is over. You are free to discover Namche on your own if you wish to.
day 6 - Trek to Thame and return to Namche Bazaar
Today is your last day in Namche before you fly to Everest Base Camp. Included in today's itinerary is a hike to a traditional Sherpa village called Thame, located to the west of Namche. It takes around five hours to reach the village.
Along with views of Mount Kongde and Mount Thamserku, Thame also offers stunning views of the Khumbu Valley. Additionally, it is also the childhood home of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, one of the first people in the world to set foot on Mount Everest. Having soaked up the view from Thame, it is time to return back to Namche, where you will spend the night.
day 7 - Helicopter flight from Namche to Everest Base Camp
Today might as well be the most exciting day of your entire trip as you board a helicopter from Namche and fly to Everest Base Camp. The chopper will fly over the Khumbu Valley and allow you to see the Khumbu Glaciers as well as Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. After some time, the helicopter will drop you in the Lukla. This helicopter tour normally takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on weather conditions and the number of passengers.
Catch the regular flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla.
day 8 - Fly to Kathmandu from Lukla (30 minutes)
Your journey comes to an end today. Hop into the airplane and enjoy a thrilling flight back to Kathmandu. Enjoy the last glimpse of towering mountains and hills from the window of the plane. We will drop you off at your hotel in Kathmandu. Stay overnight in the capital city.
day 9 - Kathmandu departure
After a few days of fun and excitement, the day to bid farewell has arrived. Our representatives will escort you to the Tribhuvan International Airport as per your flight time. We wish you a safe and happy journey ahead.
