The itinerary was well paced with a variety of different places to visit. The tour guide, was excellent, as was our driver. I would have liked a wider range of optional opportunities, as only a few of them appealed to our group.
We have never traveled internationally before and had no idea what to expect. We decided on a tour so we would see more in a specified time. Andrew did not disappoint! We understood that we would have a limited amount of time at each stop and while we did feel rushed a couple of times, we took it in stride because of the number of stops and sites we were able to make and see. We believe the idea of the tour was to expose us to as many sites as possible while making the day enjoyable and informative. That is exactly what happened. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Scotland with as our guide. Our bus driver was also the best! We couldn't be happier!
It was good that we had 2 night stays at hotels but we found it difficult to cope with no air conditioning. I was thankful that my in ability to climb stairs was taken into consideration. The tour was very busy sometimes with long days, rushing to dinner. The tour Director was brilliant…he ensured that our tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo could be exchanged for ambulant tickets. It was an awesome experience😊 also ensured that we had little treats of our culture, pics of Hairy Coos, walkers shortbread, whisky tasting experience, local Irish lolly. Hectic and tiring but did see lots of different experiences.
Sure
Our tour guide , *personal info removed by Feefo* was exceptional and professional. However, I was very disappointed with the tour itself. Even considering the fact that our tour was slowed considerably by traffic conditions I felt that not enough time was spent in some tour locations, most notably the Culloden battlefield. Because of timing and the drivers requirements we were not permitted to spend enough time at most locations. Also, the nights spent at the Craiglynne Hotel were very disturbing. The hot weather obviously could not be controlled, but not even a fan was available in the rooms. We had two rooms, one of which smelled strongly of sewer. It prompted us moving two mattresses from that room to the other in order to sleep. As well, there was nearly no water pressure in either shower and no hot water. In order to shower, we would have to wait until late at night in order to get a semi satisfactory water pressure and lukewarm water. I mentioned this to reception and was told that the boiler had to move water up three floors. I had looked forward to the tour up into the highlands, but I have to say that part of the itinerary was not what I expected.
It was fabulous. I would have liked more time to explore some of the stops. But I know exactly what I want to go back and revisit and things I don’t necessarily care about. The price points were INCREDIBLE. I feel like I got so much for what I spent. Everyone did an incredible job of making sure we got as much value out of the trip as possible.
We liked the itinerary and we saw quite a bit of the country. We were certainly kept busy. My problem was the ride to the airport in Glasgow. We were told that no coaches would be going that early. The one left the hotel five minutes after the shuttle we purchased. We are still waiting for our refund for that purchase!
The bus is not comfortable and small for the long trip.
Be prepared to walk steep inclines for long distances.
I recently completed the Best of Scotland tour Booking #C095768 and have a few comments. Our tour director was very nice and courteous, and quite knowledgeable. I do wish that he had offered a Ceilidh evening and dinner on an alternate night since the one that was originally listed as an optional experience was the same evening of the Edinburgh tattoo. I was really looking forward to attending Ceilidh. The tattoo was wonderful, however, and I would not have wanted to miss that. We did really enjoy the Be My Guest experience dinner at Craufurdlund Castle. I was surprised that our optional experiences payments went directly to . We felt that Trafalgar should have covered our transfer to the airport even though we left two days later. It should still be part of our package as we’ve paid for it. One of the days in the Highlands we went back to the hotel with extra time to relax, but I would rather have seen more or had more time at one of the stops. I’m not sure if our guides are not allowed to go into castles or locations, but I expected more use of the Vox headsets and narration. The Highlands hotel was very noisy, especially the first night. We could hear every step the guests above us took, ands doors slammed loudly. Overall, it was a great trip and I do enjoy traveling with Trafalgar.
There was a lot packed into this itinerary and some felt very rushed
All encompassing, a full agenda & hitting all major attractions all about bonnie Scotland. Tour guide was excellent, our driver was most qualified & my fellow tourists were international & fabulous.
A really great overview of the country, and amazing beginning, unbelievable Revue at the football stadium opening night. Every stop was very pleasant and enlightening. Our guide Emma was very knowledgeable. I kept the pleasant demeanor, while at the same time, taking care of the needs of 43 people.
Our group had perfect weather all week as we viewed lochs and castles across Scottish country. The Royal Military Tatoo was an amazing spectacle! The Highlands are very beautiful!
We had a lot of experiences in a short trip. I am very happy with the itinerary.
I had a quotation for my initial and preferred itinerary and I paid it in full. a week later I was told that either I had to arrive a day later, or I was going to arrive on the booked date, I had to spend one day in a different hotel at an extra charge!!! So I had to arrive a day later at a different arrival time that was past the departure time of your airport shuttle, resulting in stress of public transport and taxi to get to the hotel and join the tour.
The itinerary was very full with very little time to explore stops. Felt i was being rushed all the time.
This was my second trip using the Trafalgar bus tour. I love having an itinerary with each day mapped out in advance, knowing where you’ll be staying, what meals are included and the places you’ll be visiting. I, especially, like that my luggage is picked up and delivered to each destination. I feel secure in knowing that there is a head count taken before leaving each event so no one could go missing without the knowledge of the director of the group. I, also, like the opportunity for add-ons along the way, specialist little excursions that the average tourist may not be aware of. I can’t say enough good things about our guide director. She was phenomenal - very knowledgeable and personable, excellent with rearranging events when something had to be tweaked. Our bus driver was amazing, too.
I was not happy with the locations of the hotels in Edinburgh and Glasgow. As a senior, these hotels were not within walking distance of the city centres. At one point in Glasgow, I paid 11 pounds to return to the hotel . Bus service was not close enough for travel. Please take this into account when planning locations.
It was very rushed, one two night stay, the hotel had no Air conditioning, windows only opened 4 inches, no screens, two people no room to put luggage even on the floor, no water pressure to flush toilet, truly inadequate. There were 4 mishaps (one serious) and our tour guide showed no concern for the state of the individual, did not even check on her till he was prompted by other travellers. The Tattoo was incredible and seeing the Duke and Dutches of Edinburgh was a bonus. One thing that really bothered me was our guide Andrew told us he has had many complaints about the hotel prior to out stay and Trafalgar knows therefore other accommodations should have been arranged.
It was very busy but I leaned so much from our tour guide who was very knowledgeable in Scottish history. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
The Edinburgh tattoo was a real highlight, however we found that Edinburgh in August was too crowded with the Edinburgh festival on while we were there. We loved the Scottish highlands and the Hotel at Lagan is lovely with a stunning view, peaceful surroundings and overlooking a sheep paddock.
A short but comprehensive tour of Scotland including historic sites and the Highlands. An added bonus was attending the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Excellent hotels and really great optional experiences made this a memorable holiday.
Our tour guide, was fabulous! Funny, knowledgeable and caring for the needs of her customers. Bus was comfortable and driven with skill. Special guest speakers were also excellent. The Tattoo was wonderful! Accommodations also excellent. The Laggan Hotel was a restful retreat. Front steps at the Novotel: a tripping/falling hazard, which I’ve told them about.
The Edinburgh Tattoo was a true highlight. What a spectacular show! Please always include it in your tour package (when available). The tour of the Culloden battlefield was quite stirring. It reminded me of the emotions one feels when visiting the Gettysburg battlefield. Having the hotel in Edinburgh right in the middle of things, including being within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, was a real advantage. I am not usually impressed with "Be My Guest" visits, but the trip to the castle outside of Glasgow was really impressive, made even more so by the enthusiasm and friendliness of owner . The hotel in the highlands was pretty basic, but I guess it's the best you can do in the middle of nowhere. The staff members were very friendly and welcoming. I thought and Trafalgar did a good job of having convenient lunch stop places when we had days of long bus rides. The food at the optional tour restaurant in Edinburgh, just before the Tattoo, was mediocre and way overpriced. It wasn't terrible, but it was the worst of the group dinner meals. , the guide for the Edinburgh visit, including Edinburgh Castle, was outstanding, one of the best we have ever had in our trips. was excellent at taking care of details, but I wish she would have been a little more firm with the guests that were continuously late to get on the bus. When she didn't do anything about it the first time, of course it got worse. The visit to Stirling Castle was made better by the staff members that showed just how something was done back in the day. If we just saw the named building parts, they wouldn't have been nearly as meaningful.
The trip was amazing, the hotels were excellent, all in all it was a fabulous trip. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgable. . The itinerary was perfect and the Edinburgh Tatoo was a definite highlight of the trip. I would’ve liked to have spent more time at Culloden and Sterling Castle.. I also think the whiskey distillery should’ve been an optional event. I’m currently looking at other Trafalgar tours for 2026.
and were phenomenal. Give them both a hefty raise!
The Royal tattoo and the castles where the highlight of the whole trip. Hotels, I would only give three stars to each.
It was a good trip except for the tattoo we were left to walk to the arena without a guide. This was fine going but leaving at 11 pm it was very dark. We got turned around and lost very quickly. A 20 minute walk resulted in 45 minutes walking in dark streets. We didn't feel safe. One day was spent on the bus sight seeing. That was a long day. We prefer stopping and actually seeing the attractions.
Food was average! Hotac was average for the most part! Visitations were pretty good for the most part. A LOT of bus riding! Tour guide did a very good job. Although some members were chronically late negatively impacting the other members of the group! Believe they should have had a discussion privately askibg for on time performance!
The format of the tour was excellent. We saw the variety of Scotland from cities (Edinburgh and Glasgow) to the expanse of the Highlands. There really was something for everyone including a stop at St Andrews. The meals provided were very good. What made the tour exceptional was the service provided by and by our primary driver. I have no idea how the bus navigated some of the narrow passages. We were even blessed with overall good weather.
So much attention was paid to detail for various aspects of our tour. Our tour guide, was always aware of special needs of his guests & doing things to make it easier for everyone. For example, he changed seats for two of his guests at the Royal Military Tattoo so they didn't have to climb steps due to their mobility issues though they had not asked for any special compensation. That's going above and beyond. Jonny was on top of everything from keeping people informed of where we were going, what to expect, and making sure everything played out to perfection.
The tour guide and driver made the trip that much more enjoyable.
One truly gets to see the best of Scotland! Was so thrilled to get to see the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo and alll of the ancient castles and history are a wonderful experience. The countryside with the heather covered mountains is so beautiful. So many places and stories that I could relate to our family clan history. The cruise on Loch Lomond was a nice relaxing tour. The opportunity to visit the sheep farm and interact personally with the shepherd and the animals was wonderful. And of course, the Be My Guest visit to Craufordland Castle, getting to meet the Laird, Simon and his wife Adity and learn their long history of the castle and estate was amazing. They were so down-to-earth and hospitable. And lastly, but not least, our wonderful tour director, Jonny, and our bus drivers and were truly outstanding.
Loved the trip & our tour director *personal info removed by Feefo*Really enjoyed the Tatoo & seeing the Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps, as we have friends in the corps and it was the first time the corps was invited to the Tatoo. Enjoyed the Craufurd Castle tour & dinner, very personable. Overall would tor again with Trafalgar and especially *personal info removed by Feefo*
It was so good of a complete over view of Scotland
This itinerary gives a really good overview of Scotland. You not only see the sights and scenery, but you also learn the history. Meeting locals and learning about their way of life and trying the foods of Scotland gives you a pretty good feel of the country.
Great trip. Be prepared to be on the go, especially if you sign up for the extra excursions.
It would have been nicer for more time at the National Park instead of the memorials. However, our tour guide was awesome 😎
A good selection of events, it hit all the high spots! We were particularly impresssed with Trafalgar's ability to reschedule the Tattoo (that had been cancelled for the first booking due to weather) and the "hairy coos" farm visit; two items that we were very much looking forward to.
Very good itinerary. Only negative comment would be the very rushed meal on the second to last night. *personal info removed by Feefo* were excellent.
