The itinerary was what we booked for and it was great. We did the hop-on-hop-off the day before the tour started in Glasgow, so the tour doubled up on a lot of that experience but that is hard to not overlap before doing it. In Edinburgh, we were able to use the hop-on-hop-off to see things we missed on the tour. Just plan accordingly to optimize any before tour time and tour time. The Isle of Skye was kind of pointless to add and seems like a name add only. It could be cut out and there would be a few hours less driving and much better value added elsewhere. Crossing the bridge for lunch and leaving is not visiting. I would have rather had an hour or 2 in Inverness or Urquhart Castle or a stop at a distillery instead for an actual experience. Felt like most people were slightly disappointed in that and it just amounted to a long bus ride and napping for a few hours. Hotels were in general fine. Seemed to be room dependent if there were issues. I would not book the Ibis City Centre if I was travelling on my own. Stayed at the Ibis Styles for 2 days before the tour started and was fantastic, but the City Centre was a big step down on lobby (was alright but no thought to getting people to use it and no one did) and room experience. City Centre room was very humid and the bathroom insert pod smelt very bad. Personally had no issue with the room or Craiglynne atmosphere but know others had some shower temp (scalding hot) issues. The bar and lobby were comfortable and had enough general traffic that made them worth hanging out in before bed or between outings. Grantown was nice to walk around.
Itinerary was good - gives a good overview; hotels are not often completely centrally located - I suspect that makes them slightly cheaper and helps to make the cost of the tour more affordable. The guide and driver were excellent - and
