Scotland Tours in August 2026

I thoroughly enjoyed my 9 day Scottish journey with Back-Roads. Our guide Mike Taylor was exceptional. We went to some amazingly spiritual and picturesque places. The accommodation was very comfortable and I loved the boutique type style instead of "just another hotel room". Abbey was our driver and she was amazing for the some of the back roads that we went on. I always felt very safe. Mike our guide was a really lovely person. He was very informative about the places we went to and had a great sense of humour. The thing I did like is that he didn't consistently talk like some tour guides do. He had a great approach and at a lot of places we were left to explore on our own after he gave us great hints about what to do. I really liked that. Overall I will be recommending Back-Roads to anyone that asks me about my tour.

As Dr Suess would say "Oh, the people you meet and the places you go" We enjoyed the whole experience of our Back Roads tour of Highights of Britain. Our guide Darren was extremely knowledgeable with the history and local knowledge. We loved the way we could go off wandering but he would always know where to find us. We would highly recommend this tour.

The tour guide we had, Michael Taylor was excellent. He had organised such a splendid tour of parts of Scotland. His unrelenting care and concern for the safety and comfort of all members of the group was endearing. He performed his role with dedication, coupled with wit and humour which served to make the long drives by road less tedious. In this he was ably assisted by Abby and then David, the two coach drivers. They drove with care and concern for the safety of all their passengers. It is not often that we encounter tour leaders like Michael Taylor who have such an engaging style about them. Well done.

Our trip to Scotland’s backroads was a magnificent trip. It was filled with beautiful scenery, quaint and wonderful hotels and a clean roomy Mercedes van for transportation. The best part of the trip was our quide Clara and our driver Abbey. Clara was knowledgeable and provided insights into history as well as observations into the landscape and regional diversity. Abbey got us there with her perfect driving and knowledge of the roads. It was a balanced trip with history, stories, music and laughter. We loved it and would recommend it 100 percent

My first tour with Collette! Enjoyed the history and travel all over Scotland! Johnny, the tour guide was well prepared and so helpful! Also, enjoyed Frank, our Scottish bus driver. Loved the Military Tattoo!

My experience with the tour is incomplete as had to leave early due to an injury which occurred before joining the tour.What I did see & was able to participate in was fantastic & everyone was kind& helpful about my limited abilities. Was a pity that I was unable to go to Isle of Skye & Mull as was looking forward to going there.
