Annapurna Base Camp Trek stands as one of Nepal’s most beloved adventures, appealing to both young adults and experienced trekkers. Beginning in Pokhara, the journey ascends through terraced farms, traditional villages, and ancient rhododendron forests, unveiling snowy peaks and cascading waterfalls at every turn.
The trek follows the Modi Khola valley, with each step revealing more of the dramatic Annapurna Sanctuary. At Machhapuchhre Base Camp and finally Annapurna Base Camp, you’ll be surrounded by a 360-degree panorama of towering Himalayan giants. The trip’s finale includes a detour to Poonhill for legendary sunrise views over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna.
What makes this trekking tour special is its blend of accessible adventure, varied scenery, and cultural immersion, ensuring a rewarding experience for those eager to sample the best of the Himalayas.
I did the ABC Trek in December 2019. Was an amazing experience and the trek was stunningly beautiful. My guide Deepen had a great knowledge of the mountains and was very attentive to my needs. He had a good understanding of what different clients are capable of after watching them on day 1 and then made sure the trek was suitably challenging but not out of their comfort zone. I always felt that safety was a priority and when extreme bad weather came in when only a few hours from our ABC destination, I was comfortable with the decision not to risk it. No one went up the mountain that day. The trek was fun, heaps to see, lots of people to meet along the way and Deepen always discussed the plan for the following day the night before, so I felt engaged and knew what to expect. Overall a great trip, would highly recommend but make sure you take some very warm clothes if travelling in winter. I'm thinking myself of planning another trek.
I did a 12 days annapurna base camp trek with Tendi as my guide. It was an amazing trek with incredible views. Tendi was a great guide (and porter), super caring and always making sure I was having the best experience. I will definitely come back! thank you
ABC far exceeded my expectations! Stunning views! Its physically challenging though, so come prepared. Do stairs-there are sections that feel endless.
The Annapurna base camp trek is a beautiful 10 day hike (plus two travel days) through a mix of scenery including dense forest, tiny villages and high mountains. Views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges from Poon Hill are spectacular, and seeing the mountains up close on the way to and at Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) was amazing. The teahouses are comfortable, though they become more basic as you get further from the roads and closer to ABC. Food is available throughout the hike and generally good with a mix of Nepali, Chinese and Western dishes available at most teahouses. A mild warning, I would only recommend this hike to people with a good fitness level as a typical day can be around 6 hours of hiking (excluding lunch and rest stops) and involves a lot of stairs. Total ascent and descent are much larger than the net elevation change indicated by the start and finish elevations each day, as you frequently descend completely to the base of a valley only to climb the other side. Do not attempt with a knee injury or after recent knee surgery etc. Practice stair climbing before you go!
A fantastic introduction to Nepal, and a real workout (even if you get a porter). The 18 hours I spent in ABC were some of the most beautiful I've had in my life.
My son and I went to Nepal for the Everest Base Camp trek.. Unfortunately, the weather kept us out of Lukla. Chhatra, the owner of our local travel agency, very professionally made changes, arranged flights, and organized the boots on the ground for us to do the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Our guide, Bijay was awesome and I would highly recommend he and Mandev, our porter. They made us feel welcome, took care of us, and became friends. Each evening we played cards and shared stories. Chhatra communicated regularly via email prior to the trip and was patient with all of my questions!!
