This is more than a trek—it’s a journey through ever-changing ecosystems, guided by experts who ensure both your safety and enjoyment on this bucket-list adventure.
Lemosho is our personal first favorite! It is widely considered to be the most picturesque route on Kilimanjaro, and we hold the same opinion. The trek starts from the heath and moorland at 3,400 m, passes through alpine meadow, and finishes in the Arctic zone with the Peak Uhuru. High-altitude drop-off makes the climb less steep and, therefore, less physically challenging. Two very short treks on Day 1 and Day 2 involve little physical activity and you barely trek uphill, which means you need less oxygen and your body can spare resources.
Success rates on 7-day Lemosho are 94-95%.
The Machame route on Mount Kilimanjaro is renowned for its scenic diversity but is best suited for experienced trekkers and young adults with solid hiking backgrounds. Starting at 900 meters, this route traverses every climatic zone, from lush tropical forests to the dramatic ice glaciers of Kibo volcano. Notably, the Machame route is both affordable and boasts a high summit success rate, making it a popular choice among those seeking an adventurous yet value-conscious trek. The journey is physically demanding, particularly during the rainy season when trails become more challenging, so readiness is essential. The unique selling point of this trekking tour package is the opportunity to experience Kilimanjaro’s full spectrum of ecosystems and vistas at a reasonable cost, all while testing your endurance on one of Africa’s most iconic climbs.
Zara Tours guides treks up the Marangu Route, which is the easiest and shortest route to Kilimanjaro's summit and is known as the "Coca Cola" or "tourist" route. This is the only route on Kilimanjaro with the comforts of solar-powered sleeping huts and comfortable beds at every camp. The huts are communal, and each bunk has a sponge mattress and pillow. There are 60 beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. Bathrooms and running water are available at the two lower huts. Basic men's and ladies' latrines are available at the last camp.
All climbing groups, often from several countries around the world, share meals in dining huts providing a jovial and energetic atmosphere. Soft drinks, bottled water, and beer may be for sale at the huts. Bring Tanzanian money to purchase these items (prices increase with elevation).
This route can be done in 6 days if you're fast, but in order to do it safely, we will spend 7 days as 6 days is sometimes not enough for proper acclimatization.
Dreaming of standing atop Africa’s highest peak? The 7-day Mt. Kilimanjaro tour via the Marangu route offers a dynamic trekking adventure, recommended particularly for young adults and seasoned travelers seeking both comfort and challenge. Unlike other Kilimanjaro climbs, the Marangu route features hut accommodations with bunk beds, allowing trekkers respite from the elements and reducing logistical costs. The trail unfolds from the lush rainforest at 1,860 meters, winding through every Tanzanian climate zone—from tropical woodlands to the icy slopes of Kibo Glacier. Notably, this trek is the only one on Kilimanjaro that combines affordability with a solid chance of reaching the summit. A key highlight of this tour package is the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of Kilimanjaro's breathtaking landscapes while resting each night in huts rather than tents, making it a distinctive and cost-effective choice for adventurers who appreciate a touch of comfort with their high-altitude journey.
