KILIMANJARO - LEMOSHO ROUTE

I did Lemosho route this June 2015 with ANAPA Travel. I warmly recommend this local agency: the trip was adjusted to my personal needs (regarding budget and paying, dates of the trip etc.) due to the very friendly and service oriented tour operator Tumaini. I also had a great guide (ask for Marwa) and team on the mountain. There was nothing I could complain about. I planned the tour via internet in advance - very reliable.

Climbing Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route in 10 Days

The Lemosho route on Mount Kilimanjaro goes parallel to the lower part of the Shira Route. The trail on the Lemosho Route is unspoiled, secluded and a very beautiful way up to the Shira Plateau. Above the plateau, you approach Kilimanjaro's great western Breach, then follow the south circuit to reach the easier Barafu Route. This is one of the few routes where an armed ranger will accompany us as there are still animals in the forest around the Lemosho Glades. The Lemosho route will take 9 days in total. The route is the most scenic on the lower part as it goes directly through a rainforest area with wildlife. Later on, this route merges with the popular Machame route. You can bring around 15 kgs of luggage for the trip. The porters will carry most of the 15 kgs, and you will yourself carry a small day-pack. Climb Kilimanjaro: Lemosho Route, 9 Days (7-day climb)

Lemosho is our personal first favorite! It is widely considered to be the most picturesque route on Kilimanjaro, and we hold the same opinion. The trek starts from the heath and moorland at 3,400 m, passes through alpine meadow, and finishes in the Arctic zone with the Peak Uhuru. High-altitude drop-off makes the climb less steep and, therefore, less physically challenging. Two very short treks on Day 1 and Day 2 involve little physical activity and you barely trek uphill, which means you need less oxygen and your body can spare resources. Success rates on 7-day Lemosho are 94-95%.

Kilimanjaro Climb Rongai Route 8 Days

Zara Tours leads treks up the unique Rongai Route known to be more scenic than the Marangu Route, easier than the Machame Route, and the success rate on the Rongai is very high. Unlike the Marangu Route where you sleep in huts, on the Rongai you sleep in tents (tents are included), and our porters will pitch your tent for you. Meals are served in a dinner tent or on a blanket outside. The Kilimanjaro Rongai route starts on the north side of the mountain just south of the Kenyan border, and is one of the least traveled routes. The Rongai route joins the Marangu route before the summit climb, then you descend the Marangu Route on the mountain's southeast side.

Mt. Kilimanjaro - Umbwe route, 8 days

The route Umbwe is almost parallel to Machame. The two treks merge at Barranco camp. It is one of the shortest routes of Kili, frequently chosen by the groups who like “classic” routes, but do not favor overcrowded Machame. The climb starts at 1600 m point and traverses all climatic zones of Kilimanjaro. It is not frequented by travelers, but it is comparatively inexpensive. Climbers with good physical preparation may like. Kindly note, that this route has great views but it is the most difficult way to reach the summit. Altitude acclimatization is not good due to the rapid ascent. Hence, it is recommended only to experienced hikers in good physical shape.
