This and much more in a half-day Tour to the religious capital of Portugal.
Meet your new Portuguese best friend at your accommodation to start the exciting journey that awaits you – sit back & relax while traveling to the center of Portugal and hearing all about the region!
Fátima’s Sanctuary
150 km (90 miles) north of Lisbon, we reach our destination: the religious capital of Portugal! In Fátima, you’ll spend your time exploring this sacred place, starting with the Chapel of the Apparitions, where you can see the stone that marks the spot where the Virgin Mary appeared.
We’ll also visit the Sanctuary, which is twice the size of St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima. Absorb the religious atmosphere and serenity that characterize this unique place.
Our guide will give you time and space to enjoy the views, but, of course, will also share all the important information and everything you need to know about Fátima and Portuguese religious traditions.
Sheperd’s Village
We leave the Sanctuary of Fátima, but our tour is far from over! To make this day even more unforgettable, we’ll take you to a small local village, just 2 km away, where the Three Little Shepherds were born and lived.
You’ll have the opportunity to get a closer look at their lives and customs, providing you with a deeper context of this story and the importance of this unique place.
You begin in UNESCO-recognised Porto, a beautiful mix of winding, medieval streets, impressive architecture and the serene Douro River, packed with brightly coloured rabelo sailing boats - it's also home to some world-famous wine cellars. From here you'll head south, past sandy bays and beaches, to your luxury hotel in Furadouro right on the beachfront, before heading via the Aveiro Lagoon, to 'Portugal's Venice', Aveiro. Here, the latticework canals are overlooked by grand buildings and inviting restaurants, while pretty moliceiro boats sail leisurely along the water. Returning to the ocean you'll pass high sand dunes and fragrant pine and acacia forest, on your way to Praia de Mira, before heading inland to the Spa town of Curia in the Bairrada wine region, the home of Portugal's best Champagne-style wine - be sure to stop for a tasting! From Curia your final stretch takes you to Coimbra, Portugal's former capital and now a cosmopolitan university city. Explore its charming cobbled alleyways, bustling markets and wonderful architecture such as the 16th century aqueduct and the university's sublime Baroque library, perhaps rounding off with a traditional fado evening in one of the local bars.
