An excellent holiday with an excellent leader. San Sebastián is a delightful small town with very few tourists. Our hotel was central and comfortable. The walks covered all that La Gomera offers, with the added bonus of a trip to the desert landforms below Mount Teide on Tenerife at the end. Raquel our leader was well- informed and enormously helpful. A lovely and sociable group was a bonus.

This trip works well. Tenerife has lots of flights and so is very accessible. The ferry to La Gomera takes you away from mass tourism, and the island itself is varied and attractive. We had a great trip with varied walks and some nice meals out in the evening. The group got on well and the group leader/guide was excellent. An added bonus was the transatlantic rowing competition from La Gomera to Anguilla was taking place the following week so we had the opportunity to meet participants.

La Gomera is a quiet and very scenic island. Walks were often challenging with quite a few steep and rocky downhill paths, but some of the scenery was stunning. Very knowledgeable and helpful guide.

This was a fabulous trip. La Gomera is very quiet compared to other islands in the Canaries. The walking is fabulous with great scenery but be prepared for a fair amount of downhill. We requested that the optional walk be reversed to be predominantly uphill and it was so much better. The hotel was very comfortable with good breakfasts. By choice, we ate out as a group each evening and ate well at a variety of restaurants very close to the hotel. Our tour leader, Raquel, was exceptionally good, as I have come to expect with Explore. This was my 16th trip with Explore and it was as good as always.

La Gomera is an excellent place for a walking trip - if you like steep paths and great views. The hotel got all the essentials right and was very conveniently located in San Sebastian. There are many good and reasonably priced restaurants nearby. We had a great mix of people in the group and the leader was professional, well organised and personable. Another very enjoyable Explore trip.

Honestly I really enjoyed everything. But if I had to pinpoint a favourite I think it would be how often we saw the northern lights. Due to the extreme weather conditions - a blizzard in October, we saw them almost every night which I think makes us really lucky, as I was expecting it to be much harder to see them. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised by the adaptability of our day plans by our TM and Driver when we needed to be kept safe, and had delays to departures on some days due to snow, icy roads, and strong winds - we still managed to see everything we would have in the end and made some surprise pit stops too! I was super stoked with the glacier hike, but it would be even more incredible if it was longer. The only way I think this trip could be improved would be to have the start time earlier so the first day is actually a full day, and start the travel straight away! Why do we need to stay in Reykjavík on the first and last night? It could easily be changed to make the trip feel like you see even a tiny bit more.
