Affordable Europe Tours

10,690 reviews on bookmundi

Europe on a budget is possible when you choose the right region, season and route. Our affordable Europe tours currently start from around USD 16 per day, with above a thousand budget tours across Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, the Balkans, Central Europe and beyond. Eastern Europe, Central Europe, the Balkans, Portugal, Spain and Turkey usually offer better value than Switzerland, Scandinavia, Iceland or major city hotspots like London, Amsterdam and Venice. The lowest daily price is a deal hook, not the full trip cost, so budget extra for meals, attraction tickets, city taxes and optional activities. Budget Travel Tips for Europe

Choose the region before the route

Europe is not one financial category. A week in Albania, Hungary or Poland is not the same as a week in Switzerland, Norway or Iceland. Build affordable Europe tours around Central Europe, the Balkans, the Baltics, Portugal, Spain and Turkey before adding high-cost cities. Treat expensive countries as short highlights, not long bases.

Do not over-route

A seven-day tour covering six countries may sound efficient, but it can become a bus-window vacation. Europe’s best budget tours balance movement with actual time in cities. For first-timers, a compact Spain/Portugal, Italy, Balkans, Turkey or Central Europe route often beats a frantic “see everything” package. The cheapest transfer is the one you do not need.

Budget for meals not included

Many budget Europe tours include some breakfasts, but lunches and dinners are often extra. Plan a separate daily food budget, especially in Western Europe, the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Turkey usually make casual meals easier on the wallet. Supermarkets, bakeries, markets and simple local restaurants are your budget’s emergency services.

Watch attraction stacking

The Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Vatican, Louvre, Prague Castle, gondola rides and river cruises are not small extras when repeated across several cities. Pick one or two paid highlights per city, then balance them with free neighborhoods, public squares, parks, markets, churches and viewpoints. A low tour price can rise quickly if every stop becomes a paid attraction sprint.

Use rail passes carefully

Rail passes can be useful on compact, multi-country routes, but seat reservations are often extra on high-speed, international and night trains. Slower national or regional trains may avoid some reservation costs, but they take longer. Compare the pass, reservations and point-to-point tickets before assuming rail is the cheapest option. Europe loves trains; your budget prefers math.

Consider a tour if crossing several countries

DIY travel works well for slow trips. But when a route crosses four or five countries in one or two weeks, a tour can save planning stress, hotel coordination, border logistics and transfer costs. Tours are most useful when they control timing. They are less useful when travelers want total freedom and plan to stay three to five nights in each city.

My favorite experiences were the group activities: tour of Pompeii winery, the vertical farm & pizza making. All days were well planned. The only negative for me was being placed in the middle of tourist shopping areas in each costal town.

First timer using Collette and traveling with a tour group . Very well organized , great accommodations and our tour Manager Cinzia Trappa was thee best ! My favorite hotel was in Ravello , The Graal , the views were magnificent !! Location was great to get us back and forth to the Amalfi for the ferry .

Rome is amazing! So much history. Wish the Vatican would have been included. I tried to purchase tickets on my own, but they were sold out. All the tour guides were fantastic! We stopped in Pompeii on the way to the Amalfi Coast. It was my favorite. It’s unbelievable they are still uncovering it. Our tour guide Francesco was very thoughtful and passionate. The Amalfi Coast is a gem! Beautiful clear water. Breathe taking! We stayed in Ravello. The cutest little town. We went to Sorrento, Positano, Capri and Minori all beautiful. Amazing experience! Big shout out to Cinzia, our local Italian tour manager for being the best person to help us understand this beautiful country!

I did all the add ons which were amazing but my favorite add ons were Travestere food tour (learning about the local culture) But going up Mt Pilates was the most awesome for the views.

I enjoyed every aspect of this tour! I needed a little more “free” time in Turin and Florence to shop. Maybe having this tour be 11-13 days instead of 8 day tour. The tour guide was EXCELLENT!!!!!

It’s hard to pinpoint a favorite because all brought a unique experience that was all different. Loved the tour manager Mara provided every opportunity to get all we could of Italy while we were at each city and country side.
