Itinerary
Walk through the stunning Scottish Highlands from Loch Lomond to Ben Nevis on this iconic route. If you wish to walk the full West Highland Way from Milngavie please refer to our 10 Day itinerary. This tour follows most of the 92-mile national long distance trail of the same name through the southwestern part of the Scottish Highlands. It is claimed by some to be the most popular long distance trail in the British Isles. Starting at the village of Drymen just outside Glasgow, it includes Loch Lomond, valley routes through the mountains round Crianlarich and open heather moorland across the Rannoch Moor wilderness area. It passes close to somber Glencoe, famed for its massacre of the MacDonald Clan, and finishes at Fort William near the foot of Ben Nevis (Britain's highest peak, which can be readily ascended by experienced clients if they choose to spend an extra day). The West Highland Way is a well-established and popular route, containing some landscapes of great beauty. The altitude range is from sea level to 1850 ft (4408 ft if Ben Nevis is climbed).

Great accommodation. Trip notes not sent before leaving home. Cumbersome to view electronically. Not written specifically for our trip. Not sure why this would be the case in with ease of producing documents. Trip notes not always written on b logical sequence.
Seamless trip logistically. Beautiful scenery. Most trails nearly empty. Be prepared not to have options at stops, as most are the hotel only with no town/market option. Scottish food is fairly monotonous, although Bridge of Orchy and Kingshouse restaurants were standouts. We spent another night at Kingshouse, but there was not much to do there.
We found it to be what was described on the website.
Enjoyed the trip 100%. People services were well organized and thoughtful. The scenery was gorgeous. Only one criticism was lack of a outdoor toilets which may have lessened the disturbing litter of toilet paper occasionally spotted.
Great way to do the Way. Inns are booked along the Way and luggage is transported to each new location. Highly recommend that one do the Way in at least 7 if not 8 days. I had 2 days of 18 and 22 miles, which was a little much, but I handled it. I would recommend Walkers Britain for trip planning.
