16 days trekking and climbing
Nepal's highest 'trekking peak'
Excellent views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchenjungha, etc.
In April 2025 we set off on a trek with the aim of climbing Mera Peak. The journey took us a total of 16 days. The trek was very well organised, thanks to our great guide Chhiyang Banapish we always knew what to expect the next day, we always had enough water and food on the way, he always arranged good accommodation for us and togeher with the porter they took great care of our comfort and safety. I really appreciate that we went the whole way with one guide, who managed to get to know us during that time (I do not recommend going with a trekking guide and changing guides in Khare, they do not know you, they do not know how you have fared on the trek up to that point). Our guide was very reliable, thanks to him and his proper guidance and sufficient acclimatisation, we managed to reach the summit, although I was tired, but he was able to motivate me and really accompany me to the summit. I would like to thank him and our porter very much, as well as the agency. I would definitely use their services again next time.
Director Khum Subedi was helpful. Very good professional staff , good food, good service. Recommended.
The trek was spectacular, lovely weather, beautiful scenery, and phenomenal views.

Even though I didn't make it to the Mera Peak summit successfully due to altitude sickness, the experience I had with this local travel specialist was great. Airport pick-up went smoothly and they even let me buy a few clothing items in Thamel before dropping me off at my hostel. After the trek I spent another week in Nepal and I assumed the return to airport wouldn't be included since I wasn't going immediately after the trek as this has been the case with other companies I've done tours with. But no, they told me they'd be happy to take me to the airport whatever day my flight was. Pretty awesome. The drivers were all very friendly, helpful, and spoke excellent English which made for nice rides. The guide and porter I had for the trek were both very kind and well-qualified for their positions. If I had felt better, I have no doubts that my guide would have gotten me to the summit. My only criticism is that I would have preferred to have had a guide that spoke better English. My guide spoke well enough for purposes of the trek, but I couldn't really have conversations with him about his culture, life, etc because he didn't understand what I was asking. Obviously, this is a non-essential, but it is something that would have added to my experience. He was also a bit young and so didn't always know how much longer it would take to reach the next lunch spot or teahouse. I think in time he'll have a better idea of the pace of his group and will be able to accurately give a time estimate. Other than that, great experience!
Had a great time. When looking for a organization to help me book a trip for Mera Peak and Island Peak, Khum and his team were very responsive. The overall communication was very professional, swift and clear. The team showed flexibility in setting up the itinerary and made sure everything was arranged. During the trip I was contacted multiple times to check whether everything was going according to plan which felt like the people were really engaged and making sure I was having the trip of a lifetime. Thanks to Khum, Chris and his team and a special thanks to Dawi Furi Sherpa who was my guide for the entire trip. Would highly recommend booking a trip with this local travel company if you’re looking for a professional and great company for trekking/climbing in Nepal.
- Our flight was early in the morning to Kathmandu and they did not show up at airport. We asked around people outside for over an hour and booked a taxi to Hotel. - While Booking they mentioned they will be issuing sleeping bag, down jacket and duffel bag, but instead sent us to a shop in Thamel for gear. They Issued us gear that was not rated for -20C. We learned that later during the trek. - They put an extra person to back seat of the Jeep that was taking us to Ramechhap airport. It was a 4 hour bumpy ride at 2 in the morning and fitted 4 people to 1 3 person seat. By the time we reached the airport we were in pain. This extra person was not part of our trip. - First trekking day started in the afternoon as trekking company did not arrange cash for the trip.. so had to walk in the evening with head torches on. - They hired a freelance guide. Not one of their employees. - The itinerary they provided was outdated. Some of the teahouses don't even exit now. - The services offered includes a full first aid kit. Our guide fell ill and we learned that there was no first aid kit. So we use our kits for this pain. - As part of their offer, they must provide a sat phone. We learned later on there was no sat phone. The trekking company even gave a sat phone number since our insurance requests a number. This was just a bogus number they gave us. - There was no Pulse Oximeter. - The gear was very low quality. We felt cold inside the sleeping bags even at 6°C. Even the down jackets were not rated for -20°C. - The zippers on some sleeping bags and down jackets failed mid way. - The mountaineering boots were not warm enough. - AS we complained about the jeep trip from Kathmandu to Ramechhap, the trekking company instead used a public transport bus to transport us from ramechhap to Kathmandu. The buss dropped us at the middle of the road and we had to fetch taxis to reach hotel. They charge us for private hire but used public bus instead. Overall, our summit failure is partly to blame on the agency as we were cold all the way to high camp and exhausted because of that. Below is what is published as their offering on Bookmundi. Airport pick up and drop off, upon arrival and departure in Kathmandu (International and domestic both). Mera Peak climbing permit fee. Makalu Barun National Park entrance fee and Khumbu Pashang Lhamu Rural Municipality fee. Food during the trek and climb (full board with breakfast, lunch and dinner). All guesthouse accommodation during the trekking period and North Face, Salewa, Mountain Hardware or similar tented camp accommodation during the climbing period. High altitude climbing leader (Sherpa guide) licensed by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). Well experienced English speaking assistant guide if the group size exceeds 5+ persons. Group climbing equipment including ropes, ice screws, snow bars, harness, carbine, eight figure etc. Domestic flight Kathmandu / Ramechhap - Lukla - Kathmandu / Ramechhap inclusive with all taxes and transfers. Satellite phone. Worst case, help with all rescue and evacuation arrangements. Sleeping bag, down jacket and duffel bag. First aid medical kit, Oxymeter to check pulse, heart rate and oxygen saturation at higher altitude. All applicable taxes as per the government rules and regulations. All organisational requirements.
I booked the Mera Peak trek with this local travel specialist. The whole experience was just perfect. Communication prior to the trip was agile and helpful. The attention to details was exquisite, from pick up at the airport, to transport to Ranechap local airport and everything during the trek (food, accommodation, guides, porter, etc.). To top it alll I managed to summit Mera Peak (6470 m) on my first attempt. The sleeping bag and down jacket provided were perfect, very warm. They could not do their job any better!
Have done multiple treks with this tour company. Very good support from Mr Khum Subedi starting from the planning to completion of trip. Good itinerary at affordable price range. Trekking guides are highly experienced and friendly. Will recommend them to anyone.
Booked a Mera Peak trek through Bookmundi and it was all-around a great experience!!! Kris is very responsive, and generous people work there. They were very helpful with my arrival to and from the airport as well as great recommendations on hotels and activities in Kathmandu. Highly reccomend:)
