Craving an off-the-beaten-path trekking adventure in Nepal? The "Manaslu Circuit & Base Camp Trek" is a 20-day guided tour perfect for experienced hikers and curious seniors looking for a challenging yet culturally rich experience. Starting and ending in Kathmandu, this trip ventures deep into the remote Manaslu region, circling the world’s seventh highest mountain (8,167m) and crossing the breathtaking Larkya La Pass.
The trek weaves through terraced foothills, sub-tropical forests, and high-altitude landscapes reminiscent of Tibet, offering encounters with remote Buddhist villages and diverse local cultures near the Tibetan border. Highlights include a foray to Manaslu Base Camp—frequented by mountaineering expeditions—and awe-inspiring panoramas from the Larkya La. The journey concludes in bustling Annapurna region villages, making for a rewarding circuit of dramatic scenery and authentic Himalayan life.
Unique to this trekking tour package is its combination of raw natural beauty and cultural immersion in one of Nepal’s least-visited regions—a true gem for those seeking adventure beyond the classic trails.
Brilliant trip, fantastic scenery and expertly led by Haka and the rest of the World Expeditions team.
This trip was my second with World Exp. Again it was a fantastic experience. Also my second time having Harka Rai as trek leader. He is an exceptional leader, who along with his staff, provided a memorable experience.
A fantastic experience
Some of the highlights of our trek was being able to engage with the local people, all thanks to Samde, our guide. Our group of 8 watched a lady weaving, met a shepherd who proudly showed us his woollen coat, made by his wife and visiting a monastery where the nuns (some in their eighties) were sitting together having tsampa. I think it is these people that make a trek so memorable. Samde likes photography, so we had lots of opportunities to stop and look at bharals, marmots and birds of prey. Our campsite Pung Gyen Gompa, chosen by Samde, was such a beautiful area and our group of 8 had the place to ourselves. We watched the sunrise from the foot of Manaslu, it was spectacular. There is so much more to see and do, but you will have to see it for yourself. As always, the crew looked after us so well and they work very hard. THEY ARE AMAZING!
Everything from start to finish was completely flawless! Our whole team were all incredibly friendly and always happy to answer any questions we had. They also always made us all feel safe and comfortable! The tents were so nice and spacious with a very cosy sleeping bag! The food was always divine and featured some seriously impressive dishes such as cake or pizza! (I don’t know how this is possible at altitude) Lastly our lead guide Sam-de was a true and utter legend! He was always very professional and respectful with the team and with us always so professional and smiling all the way! He was great at allowing us the opportunity to interact with locals when we passed through villages. He was also great at telling us about the history and fun facts of the area and had a very keen eye for all the wildlife! Overall I would not change a single thing about this trip! Every day was filled with excitement, learning and beauty.
