Island Peak’s glaciated summit beckons adventurous souls to the heart of the Everest region. The Island Peak Climbing With Everest Base Camp Trek offers a thrilling blend of high-altitude trekking and technical mountaineering, perfect for young adults and seasoned explorers ready to test their limits.
Your journey begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by classic trekking through Sherpa villages and a visit to the vibrant Namche Bazaar. After acclimatizing, you’ll marvel at Gokyo Lake, ascend Gokyo Ri for panoramic Himalayan views, cross the dramatic Cho La pass, and arrive at Dingboche to prepare for your summit attempt. Two nights at base camp ensure you’re well-prepared to conquer Island Peak, with its spectacular vistas of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and the Khumbu Valley.

day 1 - Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla & Trek to Phakding
40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Khumbu region of Eastern Nepal - provides unforgettable views of the terraced landscape and river valleys below, along with the scenery of the world’s highest mountains followed by a trip to Phakding (8700ft, 2650m)
day 2 - Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar(3,446 m)
Walking through the magnificent forest of rhododendron, ending your nature-filled journey at Namche Bazaar which takes about 6-7 hrs from Phakding. On the way we can experience the scenery of blue pine forests, firs, and junipers.
day 3 - Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar
Enjoy the beautful village of Namche along with the friendliness and hospitality of its local Sherpa people. Visit the local museum which displays the area’s native flora and fauna as well as the history of the Mount Everest region.
day 4 - Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,867 m)
Begin their trek with awe-inspiring, unforgettable views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Cholatse, Kantaiga, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. This trek is quite an easy walk from Namche to Phunki, followed by a three-hour ascent towards Tengboche.
day 5 - Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche (4,252 m)
A short day’s journey towards Pheriche consists of a trek through forests filled with of a variety of lush trees - birch, conifers and rhododendron. This picturesque trail dips down to Devuche, crossing the Imja River before climbing up to Pheriche.
day 6 - Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche (4,930 m)
continue up the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache on the left then turn right and climb more steeply towards the foot of the Khumbu Glacier., before zigzagging up through the boulders of the glacier's terminal moraine.
day 7 - Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,184m)-Kalapatthar
To reach our next objective, Kala Pattar, the trail follows the Khumbu Glacier, and offers superb views of the surrounding mountains, especially where the path is forced to rise to cross a tributary glacier. Later in the afternoon, when the sunset colors begin to appear on Everest, we make our way to the top of one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region, Kala Pattar [5554m].
day 8 - Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,357 m)
To reach Everest Base Camp, a very early start is required, as it takes several hours on a trail which weaves its way through ice pinnacles and past the crevasses of the Khumbu Glacier. On the return leg, we can take a higher route to get a spectacular view of the Khumbu icefall and the route to the South Col. We return to Gorak Shep.
day 9 - Trek from Gorak Shep to Dingboche (4,350 m)
We head back down today, through Duglha, to the summer village of Dingboche, where the houses are dotted about in the fields.
day 10 - Trek from Dingboche to Chukhung (4,750 m)
An easy walk for about 2 hours, climbing up gradually to the small settlement of Chukhung. Along the way we have great views of Island Peak and the challenge that awaits us.
day 11 - Trek from Chukhung to Island Peak Base Camp (5,150 m)
Camp Another easy day, the trail crosses the river and follows the valley for approx 3 hours, passing beneath the magnificent south face of Lhotse. Base camp is by the side of the Imja glacier, below steep grassy slopes which mark the start of the climb on Island Peak.
day 12 - Ascent Island peak (6,189 m) & down to Base Camp
Crossing the gully above the camp the trail makes a climb for another hour to a narrow ridge, leading on to the glacier. Here it is time to rope-up and put on our crampons as the most interesting part of the climb begins with the glacier crossing. This is followed by the steep snow slope that leads onto the summit ridge. This ridge is wonderfully airy and on reaching the summit we have stunning close-up views of the south face of Lhotse looming over us whilst in the other direction, there are more dramatic mountain views. We descend along the same route, down to base camp.
day 13 - Spare day, if in case the condition of weather is bad

day 14 - Trek from Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3,950 m)
After descending along the trail to Chukhung, we continue on to Dingboche for lunch. It is then another couple of hours to the lovely village of Pangboche.
day 15 - Trek from Pangboche to Namche (3,450 m)
follow the river and, after crossing it, climb back up through birch and rhododendron forest to Tengboche. Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kantega and Thamserku are just a few of the Himalayan giants to be seen. From Tengboche we descend to the bridge over the Dudh Kosi at Phunki Tenga, where there are water driven prayer wheels, before making our way back to Namche.
day 16 - Trek from Namche to Lukla (2,800 m)
Final day's trekking follows the Dudh Kosi back down to Lukla. This last evening in the mountains is the ideal opportunity for a farewell party with the Sherpa guides and porters, where we can sample some chang, try Sherpa dancing and look back on a memorable trekking experience.
day 17 - Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu
After breakfast, transfer to airport, fly to Kathmandu takes half an hour.
