Your journey starts from Kathmandu. Depending on the season and the policies of the international airport in Kathmandu, you will be offered one of the following options.
The first option involves leaving Kathmandu early in the morning, around 2:30 am, and driving to Manthali by tourist bus. The total journey takes between four to six hours. Catch a flight from Mathali to Lukla and have breakfast on landing.
In case you are not required to drive to Manthali, you will head for the airport in Kathmandu after breakfast and catch a flight to Lukla (35 minutes). Enjoy a three-hour trek to Phakding on landing in Lukla. Follow the banks of the Dudh Koshi River until you reach the trail that takes you to Namche Bazar.
Check into your accommodation in Phakding on arrival.
Leave Phakding after breakfast and continue your journey to Namche Bazar, the unofficial capital and the center of trade and commerce in the region. Follow the Dudh Koshi River and cross suspension bridges along the way. Continue your journey through Sagarmatha National Park and call it an end on reaching Namche Bazar.
Allow your body to acclimatize today. You can visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and learn more about the people and their culture. Hike to Syangboche Airport, the highest airstrip in the country, and visit Hotel Everest View for amazing vistas of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and other peaks in the Himalayas. Hike back to Namche after enjoying outstanding views of magnificent mountains.
After an early morning breakfast in Namche Bazar, you will follow the trail along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. A steep ascent brings you to Tengboche after around six hours of trek. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery in the evening. Stay overnight in Tengboche.
Leave Tengboche after breakfast and hike through coniferous forests. Your journey continues through the Imja Valley and past the Lobuche River until you reach the Sherpa village of Dingboche.
As part of your acclimatization day in Dingboche, you will hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,083m). You can enjoy stunning views of Mount Ama Dablam on reaching the top of the peak. Stay overnight in Dingboche.
Trek uphill to Lobuche after breakfast. The trail offers stunning views of Tawachee and Cholatse peaks, and you will also hike through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Spend the night in Lobuche.
An alpine trail takes you to Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp, the highlight of this journey. Call it a day on returning to Gorakshep, where you will spend the night.
Hike to the highest point of this trek, Kala Patthar, which is located at an altitude of 5,644m. Gaze at stunning sunrise views of Mount Everest and other peaks in the Himalayas before descending to Gorakshep for breakfast.
Having had your breakfast, you will then journey downhill to Pheriche, where you will spend the night.
Take the downhill trail to Namche Bazar, past the villages of Pangboche and Tengboche. Tonight you will stay in Namche.
Today is the last day of your trek in the Everest region. Retrace your steps back to Lukla.
Depending on the airport policy, you will either fly directly to Kathmandu or board an airplane to Manthali and drive to Kathmandu from there. Enjoy a farewell dinner in Kathmandu in the evening and get a certificate of trek completion.
