day 5 - Acclimatizaton day
We’ve reached new elevations at Namche Bazaar, and the air here is quite thin. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a real condition, and the best way to avoid it is to take a day to allow your body to adjust to the thin mountain air. Today is not just for sitting; we will climb to the top of the hill to get a truly dramatic view of Mt. Everest. There is also a Sherpa Museum to explore. The village of Namche Bazaar is also quite interesting as there are many restaurants, a bakery plus gift shops to visit. We will spend a second night at our tea house.

day 7 - Trek to Phortse (elev. 3810 m/12,500 ft.)

Ama Dablam, rising to an elevation of 6,812 m/22,349 ft. While not the tallest mountain in the Khumbu region, it is one of the most impressive, and like Everest, is truly a landmark. We make our way through the valley with its beautiful terraced farms before coming to the village of Phortse where we will spend the night. Trekking time is around six hours.
