day 1 - Arrival in Kathmandu (elev. 1350 m/4,429 ft.)
The excitement begins as your plane descends for a landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in the legendary city of Kathmandu. The low green hills that ring the city offer you an amazing welcome. Once you’ve gone through passport control and picked up your luggage, you will be met by your personal representative from Buddha Treks & Expedition. He will take you to your hotel where you can relax from your long journey.

day 2 - Free day in Kathmandu
It is a free day in Kathmandu. Head out exploring on your own or you can choose (optional) to join our sightseeing tour to see the places that have made Kathmandu place a legend for centuries.

day 3 - Fly To Lukla, trek to Phakding (elev. 2610 m/8,563 ft.)
After breakfast, fly to the village of Lukla in the east of Nepal to begin your trek. It’s just a short, 30-minute flight over the very backbone of the mighty Himalayas. The entire trip is filled with scenic views of the snowcapped peaks below.
You arrive in Lukla, collect your packs and it’s off to the village of Phakding, an easy four-hour journey where we will spend the night at a local tea house. There will be time to explore this Sherpa village as you begin to meet the people of the Khumbu region.

day 4 - Trek to Namche Bazaar (elev. 3440 m/11,286 ft.)
It’s a day of climbing upwards to reach the capital of the Sherpa people. Namche Bazaar is the district city and can only be reached on foot. There will be several places where you will be able to get amazing views of Mt. Everest on the trek. You officially enter Sagarmatha National Park, the home of Mt. Everest. Upon arrival in Namche Bazaar, we will check into our tea house for the night. Trekking time is around five hours.

day 5 - Acclimatizaton day
We’ve reached new elevations at Namche Bazaar, and the air here is quite thin. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a real condition, and the best way to avoid it is to take a day to allow your body to adjust to the thin mountain air. Today is not just for sitting; we will climb to the top of the hill to get a truly dramatic view of Mt. Everest. There is also a Sherpa Museum to explore. The village of Namche Bazaar is also quite interesting as there are many restaurants, a bakery plus gift shops to visit. We will spend a second night at our tea house.

day 6 - Trek to Tengboche (elev. 3,870 m/ 12,664 ft.)
It’s back to trekking as we rise early and make our way across the Dudh Koshi River. The trek is 5.9 km, but we take our time while taking pictures and enjoying the stunning scenery. Tengboche is famous for its impressive monastery. We arrive with plenty of time to join the monks in their evening prayers. Trekking time is around four hours, and we will spend the night at a local tea house.

day 7 - Trek to Phortse (elev. 3810 m/12,500 ft.)
The trek descends and crosses the river on a bridge before rising again. All around us are the most amazing views of the various peaks of the Khumbu region. One of the famous peaks we will see is Mt. Ama Dablam, rising to an elevation of 6,812 m/22,349 ft. While not the tallest mountain in the Khumbu region, it is one of the most impressive, and like Everest, is truly a landmark. We make our way through the valley with its beautiful terraced farms before coming to the village of Phortse where we will spend the night. Trekking time is around six hours.

day 8 - Trek to Namche Bazaar (elev. 3440 m/11,286 ft.)
The journey returns us today to Namche Bazaar where we will find our old tea house to spend the night. The trail back is different than the way we left, taking us to some incredible vistas as we look across the Dudh Khosi River. Trekking time is around five hours.

day 9 - Trek to Lukla (elev. 2840 m/9,318 ft.)
It’s our final day of trekking as we make our way from Namche Bazar to the airport in Lukla where we will spend our final night at a tea house in the Khumbu.

We board the flight back to Kathmandu in the morning, flying along the backbone of the Himalayas. Once we reach Kathmandu, you have a free day to explore the city or simply relax at your hotel.
