Edinburgh: Explore the city with your Local Specialist as you travel along Princes Street to see the Scott Memorial, the neoclassical Adam facades of New Town and the official Scottish residence of the King, Palace of Holyroodhouse.
St. Andrews: Visit the university town where the famous beach scene from 'Chariots of Fire' was filmed and see the golf course where the sport was created.
Inverness: Visit the site of the final Jacobite Rising, where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s forces were defeated in 1746. Walk the battlefield and learn how this short but brutal conflict changed the course of Scottish history.
Eilean Donan: See one of Scotland’s most iconic castles, set where three lochs meet. Framed by rugged mountains and often shrouded in mist, it’s a favorite film location and one of the country’s most photographed landmarks.
Fort William: Enjoy an excellent view of Ben Nevis from the World War II Commando Memorial.
Experience the Best of Scotland from Edinburgh Castle to the eclectic streets of Glasgow. Revel in the romance and history of the Scottish Highlands and contemplate the mysterious depths of Loch Ness, before toasting bonnie Scotland’s lochs, glens and legendary locals.
Beautiful trip in a beautiful country. Would have liked to entered Eaileen Dornan castle. Also more time driving into Isle of Skye.
FANTASTIC vacation !!!!!!! Only problem was with United Airlines . They cancelled our entire return flights without notifying us. NOTHING like arriving at the airport to find you are stranded in Scotland !
Poor tour director. Nice coach and good driver. Itinerary different than advertised. Seat rotation on the coach was bad. Sat in the back half 5 out of 6 days
The trip was amazing. The locations were great; was full of knowledge and was entertaining. I would change one of the hotel nights in the Highlands so one of the nights is at the Isle of Skye. The hotel in the Highlands had no hot water for my room.
What made the trip most enjoyable was the tour director. You could tell he was very passionate about his country. His knowledge about its history was unbelievable and his storytelling was awesome. The little things he did for all of us made the trip even better. The tour itself was very historical which was why I wanted to do it. Staying in places from castles that were converted to hotels and newer hotels saws the difference and age of the country itself. The places that were chosen for meals were excellent, from an old pub and having supper with a laird and lady of a working day castle. Would recommend this tour.
GREAT DIRECTOR AND DRIVER
For starters although we booked a Brendan Vacations on arrival at the hotel to start the trip we discovered that we were actually going to be on a Trafalgar Tour. Having had a prior not so great experience with Trafalgar this was a huge disappointment to us and is false advertising. The tour bus was comfortable but on day 1 we were told not to use the on bus toilet unless absolutely necessary. The tour guide was dismissive for example he wouldn’t answer questions but would say I will get to that later as I don’t want to confuse you. Another one of his favourite lines was don’t overthink it! We travelled to a lot of great places and saw some amazing sights. However one day we spent 9 hours on the bus to spend 15 minutes at a beautiful castle. We travelled all the way to the Isle of Skye to be dropped off in a parking lot! One hotel was in the middle of nowhere. The food there was fabulous! The way people had to move on the bus meant that other than the last day we were on the back half of the bus for the entire time. The distillery in Glasgow was dreadful. With so many great distilleries in Scotland surely there are better places.
For a first time trip to Scotland, this was an excellent tour for me to take. It was quite a busy trip but we saw many things during these 7 days. I would highly recommend. Castles, yes.
The trip was fantastic! You did not have to think about anything regarding where, when and how to see things. The trip was planned with all the details. Thank you.
The trip was wonderful. I particularly want to single out the driver and the tour guide for a terrific job from start to finish!
We have made many happy memories over the 46 years of marriage, but the Best of Scotland was hands down the most comprehensive, incredible vacations we have ever taken together. Each destination, meal and experience exceeded our expectations. and made our trip seamless and wove together a magical time of joy and discovery in Scotland.
It was fantastic! Well-designed and very well-led. Days were full of sights with depth at each location.
It was a fantastic vacation back to my ancestors’ homeland and a perfect way to learn the history and culture of Scotland. I think taking a motor coach tour is the best way to travel because you’re meeting new folks from other countries and able to fully experience the trip with no stress. Brendan picked the best optional journeys along the way. Our Travel Director was the best and our driver was superb.
Great tour guides and driver. Loved the places we visited. The hotels were good to great! Food was good. Bus was clean and well kept. Only complaint was that the bus and seats were tight on space. We are both over 5'9 and at times felt a little cramped on the bus.
I did not know what to expect on this trip. It surpassed my expectations. Not only was it the first trip with Brendan Vacations, it was my first trip to the beautiful country of Scotland.
It was amazing. First rate Travel Director and driver. Well planned and excited. Highly recommend this trip.
