The Best of Devon and Cornwall is an on-the-go tour that rewards the efforts you make in participating in the busy schedule. Be prepared for walking on uneven ground, and up and down hills. None of it is too daunting – go at your own pace – and the rewards are meaningful. Lovely towns, gardens and seaside to explore, all the while being treated to special surprises and flourishes. My tour was expertly hosted by the impressive duo of TD *personal info removed by Feefo. Together they brought the program to life and safely and expertly escorted us through a fascinating region. I would have appreciated a little more time at a few stops, such as the Eden Project, Lynton and Bath. The optionals, such as the pub dinner in Devon and boat cruise in Plymouth, complement the published itinerary nicely. It’s a short tour so be prepared for daily adventures, changeable weather and bring your best participatory self. The rewards are happy memories, great photos and connections with your fellow travelers.
The guide and the driver were excellent. I felt the drive. To st ives was a little long. And tiring the accommodation was good. Well, chosen hotels. I would certainly take another trafalger tour.
The basic itinerary was good and was enhanced in many different ways by and enthusiasm and experience.
Perhaps the novelty has worn thin since my first tour with Trafalgar in 2013.
My only complaints were related to the hotels. It was a hot week in England, and understandably there was inadequate air-conditioning, as the hotels were older buildings, but wished hotels could at least offer a personal electric fan of some sort. Also, the showers were quite difficult to turn on and off. Lastly, we requested a double room, which we thought would include a large bed for two people, either a double, a queen or even a king-sized bed (we are a married couple celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary). In the four (4) hotels we stayed in, twice we were put in a room with two (2) single beds. It was a minor inconvenience, but quite uncomfortable, however it did not take away from the wonderful trip. In fact, the hotels were quite nice, otherwise.
Be prepared for long hours on an uncomfortable bus. The scenery is no different than southern Ontario with many wheat and corn fields with some rolling hills. One of the Hotels was really only a 1 Star with difficulties in Breakfast and Rooms.
excellent
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I do believe it should be listed as a 7 day tour at the most because "Day 1" is on your own in London and you don't meet your tour director until the following day (which is an early departure that would necessitate arrival the day/night prior). I guess that because the hotel room is included, you could, technically call it part of the trip? The tour was a bit more relaxing than some other Trafalgar tours we have been on, and attracted middle-aged travelers, but we did enjoy the pace and the fact that we didn't change hotels every night. Our tour director was and he was very informative, had a great sense of humor and even provided a couple of "extras" for the group that weren't on the itinerary. One of my favorite locations was the Eden Project; it was beautiful and educational. Overall, lovely scenery, unique experiences that were well-planned and met new friends along the way! Thanks again Trafalgar!
It was a fun and relaxing trip. We got a chance to see parts of England that are not well traveled by tourists. As our tour director said we where travelers not tourist. We got to see a lot of interesting things and meet a lot of interesting people.
Please remind people to bring face cloths and/or face wipes with them. Most hotels did not provide these items.
On one day we were taken from Paignton to the far side of Dartmoor twice, making a total of 6 hours on the bus. This was exhausting. Two of our nights were at Bideford. This town is very disappointing. A shame as the rest of our destinations were excellent.
Organised well, too rushed and long distance travelling
Excellent itinerary a lot of places covered which one would not go. Enjoyed it and the tour Director Lucent was the best guide, always there for the group and so was Gui the driver.
Could have longer stay in specific town of interest.
It was an interesting trip that took us to smaller places we might not have visited otherwise. Hotels were comfortable. Coach was comfortable with an excellent & thoughtful driver .
