The Manaslu trek is one of Nepal's best treks. If you have 17 days available for trekking in Nepal, we highly recommend this trek. It is challenging, especially the day of crossing the Larke pass at 5,135 m but if you are in reasonable shape, determined, and able to walk 6 hours a day, you can do this trek. Manaslu is the eighth highest peak in the world, bordering the Gorkha and Manang districts in Nepal. It is just 64km East of the previously popular Annapurna treks. Literally, Manaslu is derived from Sanskrit with manasa means “Mountain of the spirit". The Manaslu region encompasses everything from sub tropical foothills to the arid Trans-Himalaya high pastures bordering Tibet. The Manaslu trek opened only in 1991. Its popularity increased significantly when teahouses become available around 2009. The Manaslu region has no roads or alike and the trekking trails are excellent. This combined with a high variation in altitude starting from around 700 m and getting up to 5,135 m is the reason why the Manaslu trek today is preferred over the Annapurna trek. After a 6 hours bus ride from Kathmandu, the trek begins Arughat. En-route the trek, you will not only see spectacular mountain scenery but can also visit several monasteries. If you have 19 days available, you will not regret choosing this trek. If you are in doubt as to physical fitness we highly recommend adding a porter. 1 porter can carry up to 30 kgs and can thus be shared between 2 people. The perfect first contact with Nepal. This was my first trek in Nepal, can't think in any better choice. Including few days at Katmandu and Pokhara. Trek is amazing starting at rural Nepal and moving over the mountains. I went on May, and clime was really fine.

Excellent trek

Brilliant trek with stunning mountain views and trekked through very remote villages. Our guide Raju was amazing. He is an excellent mountain guide and got us safely across the Larke pass in snow. Dhawar our porter was also great. A fantastic experience - ask for Raju.

This trek was BRILLIANT for so many reasons - World Expeditions plan and prepare this wonderful trek with care & many provisions, including safety, information, on tack support, good and plentiful food, good accommodation.... - the guides are first rate in every way, the time of year was perfect (not too many crowds) and the trekkers were a lovely group of people, the mountains were magic - a total highlight of my hiking life!

Everything done right! Great leader (thanks Rishi!) and sherpa guides, Mr Meck and Mr Gopal ... lots of thought went into the menus and what we would need, and care was taken to ensure we were all managing the daily walks and were remaining healthy. Trip of a lifetime!

I took part in the Exodus Everest Base Camp trip in March and had an incredible time! Everything was so well organised. The guides were so professional and great at their jobs. My group and I were in very safe and capable hands. The itinerary was fantastic. It was so beautiful hiking to Everest Base Camp. Every day was an adventure and there were fun things for us to do and see on a daily basis. I appreciated the inclusion of visiting schools, monasteries, museums etc. on the trip - it added a nice extra dimension to the hiking. We had a group of 6 travellers which was a nice number and it was nice being part of a team. We all made it to Base Camp which was fantastic news. This was my first trip with Exodus however after this I will definitely be going on more trips with them!
