We thoroughly enjoyed this trip in a country about which we knew little in advance. As always with Explore the booking process was very smooth and the trip itself was well planned. It was fast paced, we covered a lot of ground in a fleet of 4x4 vehicles which gave the whole experience an exhilarating feeling. It also meant we experienced the wide variety this country has to offer, coastline, desert, mountains and old towns and villages. The accommodation was generally excellent, especially the desert camp and the View resort with its spectacular location. The decision to spend 2 nights in Nizwa worked well and the town centre location of the hotel was a great base for wandering Our guide, Muatasim, looked after us very well. He was passionate about his country and made sure we all had a good experience. A lot of the time we travelled in a vehicle with 4 people and we were very lucky to have a driver, Harib, who spoke good English and was keen to help us understand his country. He was also a brilliant driver! Overall we really enjoyed our experience of Oman and would thoroughly recommend this trip

Excellent tour with great overview of Oman. Chose this itinerary because of the added day in Jebel Ahkdar and was worth it. Fabulous scenery with the mountains, wadis, abandoned villages and the balcony walk on the Jebel shams canyon. Full group divied in 5 very comfortable 4X4 jeeps for transportation. Nice ensuite cabins (not tents) in the desert. Wonderfull location of the Nizwa hotel giving access to the city at night time, when all the locals are out and about. Good food, included meals and the others. I would recommend this trip without any hesitation.

This trip was EXCELLENT in every way. We saw a lot of Oman in a short space of time. Yes, there were long journeys, but in a terrific, modern 4x4 and there was always plenty to see en route. The drivers were very considerate, regarding toilet stops etc etc. The guide was superb, with a great sense of humour and a real passion for his homeland and he was always willing to go out of his way to help. He was also flexible, when it came to adapting the itinerary to our advantage. The accommodation was of a good standard….most rooms really large, with en-suite. Only the night in the desert was ‘roughing it’ - but we were warned about that! I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to discover this part of the world….or even someone who wanted something different and exciting.

It was an interesting and varied tour. Travelling in five 4X4s was a good way to cope with the desert sands and the mountain roads - and were also very comfortable. The hotels were good standard but pleased to hear that future travellers won't be using the same desert tents as we did! Our tour leader Mashal did a great job and ovrall it was a very good trip.

It's a relatively short trip with a lot of variety from city to sea to desert to the final full day with an exhilarating drive through mountains.

Overall it was great. Fab guide, fab drivers, comfortable vehicles, amazing food and mostly good accommodation. However the accommodation in the desert was as good as non existent and it was the floor of a single shell tent that rained down condensation in the night - not the lovely igloo tents we had been told it would be and was listed in the final itinerary. To be honest that was the only downside of the whole trip but as a back sufferer, it was a very risky situation for me that could have had severe implications. Other than that I would definitely recommend it
