A rich tapestry of landscapes and authentic cultural immersion, all in one seamless Omani adventure.
Really enjoyed the tour, and would highly recommend it - a great overview of the key sights of this fascinating country, with a very personable, knowledgeable and professional guide. I had experiences like nothing before - seeing the turtle nesting, attending the goat auction - and learnt so much about the history and culture of the country and broader region. The sunset cruise in Muscat on the last day meant the tour ended on a high note. Great group and fabulous food, too!
This was a great trip, and I would recommend it. The hotels were all fine, the one night camping less so - very cold and the set-up was VERY basic (a kilometer away from a luxury resort!) - but the night sky in the desert was amazing. The trip notes are not totally accurate/informative though - there is a lot more travelling than they suggest and a lot of it is in 4-wheel drive vehicles over rough ground. If you don't like heights, beware! Be prepared for squat toilets in quite a lot of places :-/ All in all it was a good trip, well managed and very interesting.
This was a really good tour - the leader and drivers were great. My highlights were the the Sultan Quaboos Grand Mosque, the coastal town of Sur, the goat auction in Nizwa and the drives through the desert and mountains. However, disappointingly there was not an opportunity to hike and swim through a wadi. I think this should be an option during the tour - me and my friend booked a day trip to wadi shab after the tour ended and it was brilliant.
