About Sean

My name is Sean O'Rourke and I am not your average travel specialist! Fascinated with the Celtic world, perhaps because of my Scottish and Irish roots, I am a Canadian who has been living in Vigo, Galicia, for over 20 years. Previously to living in Vigo, Galicia I spent years in Barcelona and Madrid. Other countries I have lived and visited are Greece, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and more. I am the co-founder of Eat & Walkabout, and I dedicate my time organizing vacations for individuals and small groups, mostly from the United States of America and Canada. In just a few days, these travellers enjoy to all degrees the excellence of various wines and gastronomy of Spain and Portugal. I also like to write articles about food and wine and have collaborated with magazines like Wines From Spain News, Conde Nast Traveller, Fodor's, and others. One of my many pastimes is the study of Ancient Celtic history, Galicia and it's connection to the other Celtic nations (Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany and Isle of Man). I would love to share with you all the legends and stories of Galicia.

I have arranged tours and traveled extensively throughout all of Spain and Portugal. I personally guide our signature food and wine tours through Northern Spain and Portugal. I have the ability to create itineraries just for a few hours and up to more than 30 days with exclusive experiences and activities included. I also have experience in organizing tours for all kinds of travelers. Tours can be arranged fully escorted with an experienced guide for small groups and customized chauffeur driven tours, or detailed self-drive tours for the independent travellers. I specialize in 100% customizable tailor-made tours. I work with my client's trip needs/budget and make a complex itinerary simple for a client to enjoy.

Best Travel Experience

One of the most memorable experiences for me was on a food and wine walking tour in Galicia and Northern Portugal. We walked across the border and through the wine country on each side of the river Miño, which acts as a national border between Galicia, Spain and Northern Portugal. It is a magical area — rich in tradition and winemaking on both sides of the river. I always enjoy going back to this land and try to taste the wines and food on both sides of the border in the Miño valley wine country.

I am dedicated to designing and organizing unique tour packages for small groups, families, couples and individuals travelling to Spain and Portugal. Far from just reading out of tour guide books, I have immersed myself in my adopted country (Galicia, Spain) and truly want to understand and enjoy its culture. I personally guide specialized small group historic, gourmet food & wine tours in Galicia. Also, my interest in Spanish culture has led me to be able to speak fluent Spanish. I would be glad to translate and help with some basic vocabulary while on your vacation in Spain.
