I've always loved travelling and experiencing new places. I've been all over Colombia, my home country, and I've lived in China, the Philippines and on both coasts of the United States. I earned my MBA in the Boston area, originally intending to go into strategic consulting. But during my time there and the years immediately following graduation I rediscovered my love for travel and nature. In 2013 I decided to make a career out of what I enjoy the most --- going to new places and immersing myself in spectacular nature --- and joined the adventure travel company that would become Uncharted Earth. I'm now the vice president of Uncharted Earth, an adventure travel company that specializes in lesser known and relatively undeveloped travel destinations. We seek out unspoiled nature destinations and authentic experiences to give our customers exceptional adventures that go way beyond typical tours.

I grew up paddling canoes and riding water buffaloes on my dad's farm in the Philippines. I spent my early twenties hiking, diving, travelling and working in leisure real estate development, but in 2006 I decided to follow my passion for adventure travel. The following year I was in Boston, Massachusetts getting my MBA from Babson College, a business school known for entrepreneurship. While studying I worked with Earthwatch Institute and gained valuable insight into sustainable travel. After graduation, I moved to Colombia to work with a company that ran summer camps and nature tours and there I learned the intricacies of running adventure trips in a developing country. I set up my own adventure travel company in 2011 and we have been taking people on extraordinary trips in the Philippines and Colombia since then!

I am a passionate foodie and a devoted ocean-lover, and I have always been drawn to laid-back tropical coastlines. Wide ocean views, soft sand, warm and welcoming locals, ripe tropical fruit and seafood pulled from the water that morning — they never fail to win me over. Add affordable everyday prices and low travel costs, and these coastal places become the kind of paradise I never tire of exploring. There is endless charm hidden in unfamiliar countries. Every street, every local custom, every regional snack feels brand new. I love discovering things I haven't seen before and making friends with people from completely different backgrounds — that, more than anything, is why I travel. I have carried out extensive on-site inspections and field trips across Southeast Asia. Within China, my expertise lies in the west of the country. I take great pleasure in designing slow, immersive itineraries, and I spend a lot of my time hunting down family-run eateries and local food spots that don't appear in guidebooks, so that every traveller I work with eats properly.

I grew up in Guilin, China — a city where mountains greet you at the door and rivers flow past your window. That kind of childhood planted an early curiosity in me about the world beyond. As a child, I often tagged along when my father's foreign friends came to visit. I loved showing them my favourite places and explaining the world I lived in, recommending things to see and do. I thought of them as part of the family, and that is really where it began. My interest in tourism goes far beyond a job description — it is a passion. I love what I do and I do what I love. I also studied for it, so that the passion rests on solid professional ground. In 2004, I officially entered the travel industry as an English-speaking local guide, leading travellers from around the world across China. I later worked as a national escort guide and an outbound tour leader, covering more than 100 Chinese cities and taking groups to Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States. In those years I was both a storyteller and a listener. Every tour reaffirmed one truth: the most beautiful part of travel is rarely the scenery itself — it is the people you meet and the moments you share along the way.

Growing up surrounded by turquoise waters and warm island smiles, I learned early that the world is beautiful, and connection is everything. At 19, I jumped into tourism, sharing my little paradise with travelers from everywhere. But something unexpected happened the more I showed others my home, the more I wanted to see theirs. That curiosity became my compass. By 30, I've explored over 25 countries, each one adding a new layer to my understanding of the world. From the rugged, untamed landscapes of Central Asia's five "Stans" to the ancient temples and vibrant street-food scenes of Southeast Asia, and from the charming cobblestone villages of Europe to the dynamic, pulse-pounding energy of its great cities. Every journey taught me something new about culture, resilience, and the shared humanity that binds us all. Today, I channel all that experience into crafting unforgettable journeys for travelers like you. I was born and raised in Cebu, an island in Central Visayas. Getting into the travel industry was sort of accidental. Seven years ago, I worked as project coordinator for a German NGO operating in Cebu. After the project was completed, the project partners decided to establish a commercial travel company to sustainably continue the development efforts we started, and I was appointed general manager. I easily accepted the role as it involved my first love — travel. I was lucky to have been exposed to traveling at an early age. My grandma would bring me along whenever she went to the city to visit our relatives, and I became fascinated by what I could see, hear and experience in another place. From then on, I did not stop exploring other places. I started a "travelist" (my own version of a bucket list) within the Philippines and other countries. I can say that I have the best job, being able to work for what I am passionate about — community building and travel. The best part is advising other people who want to experience my country.

Hi. I’m Russel and I was born and raised in the capital city of the Philippines, Manila. I am a father of a toddler and I love sports, adventure, travel and all sorts of adrenaline pumping activities. I love to travel because aside from providing a momentary escape from the urban jungle, each new destination can offer a refreshing experience with nature. I chose to be in the travel agency because I wanted to share my passion for travel, promote responsible tourism, help provide jobs to Filipinos and showcase the beauty of the Philippines. As a travel enthusiast and adventure junkie, I have experienced scuba diving, sky diving, spelunking, hiking cliff jumping, island hopping, game fishing, surfing, and more, all in the Philippines. The Philippine archipelago has such a rich and diverse culture. I love how each place has something unique to offer in terms of the landscape, the food, the people...even the dialects that people speak! I would love to introduce my country to you.
