Japan Explorer Trips

This was a wonderful trip, full-on, but then I expected it to be like that. In a relatively short time we saw so many different aspects of Japan - cities, mountains, a sacred island, the sobering experience of Hiroshima. Travelling by public transport and eating in Japanese restaurants gave me a great insight into Japanese culture. Our guide Mark Petherbridge, was exceptional. he was English, so he understood our culture, but he lives in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese, so he could explain their culture as well. He had excellent knowledge of Japan - history, culture, customs. He was so helpful, like finding me a sim card for my phone, and he was very willing to 'go the extra mile' and include extra experiences. He was energetic and entertaining! I thoroughly recommend this trip!

Great trip - the important places are covered at every major city and you also have enough of free time to do your own. All the hotels were great (the one in Takayama was a stand-out though). However, I would suggest you skip the optionals offered and opt for the ones offered in Klook as they are way cheaper. As my trip took place in late December, the weather was pretty cold with occasional rain so it's best that you avoid the winter period for maximum enjoyment. This trip also takes you to try the various local cuisine so that is a real plus.

Was an excellent tour! I am not a 'tour person' by any means but thought I would give it a try in Japan as I heard several concerns about transport and language. The tour was well put together and did really showcase some of the wonderful places in Japan I would have missed if I had planned it myself. My tour guide Kat was super helpful and made this trip even better, she helped with any concerns, gift guides, best places to get certain food and drinks and far more! Would absolutely recommend it for everyone.

This trip was a great introduction to Japan for first time traveler. It has a good balance of included activities and free time to explore each location. Our trip leader Katherine is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and detail oriented.

It was my first solo travel and let me tell you this tour was amazing!! Katherine our tour guide was so kind & made us all feel so comfortable and always had the best options for us to do on free time. Our time in Takayama was incredible! One of my favourite spots! All the hotels were in amazing locations and so close to public transport or shops. And can’t forgot I Made the most amazing friends!
