Reviews of our Japan Experienced Traveler Tours

Our Experienced explorers reflect on their cultural journeys through Japan.

Our recent tour of Japan was well organised and the itinerary gave my husband and I an excellent overview of Japanese history and its fascinating culture. As mentioned in the description of the trip, you do need to be reasonably fit, as there is a lot of walking and travelling by train between different accommodation carrying day bags involved (main suitcases are forwarded on for you). There were plenty of highlights included and we were also given some free time to explore independently, when Geoffrey, our Tour Leader, often offered the option of additional walking tours. Geoffrey is fluent in Japanese, which was very helpful, and he proved to be extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Japanese history and traditions. Thank you Geoffrey and also to our happy band of fellow travellers! We hope to return to experience more! Carol and Chris

Trip covers a mixture of local experiences such as sushi making and sake tasting as well as site seeing spots. Great guide who filled us with history and reasoning for Japanese culture and cuisine. Japan is so busy but having this guided tour gave us the opportunity to get around the queues and fit more in. Wonderful place to visit with super friendly people and great food everywhere.

The itinerary was excellent. One note about hotel rooms which were very small given the clientele for the trip. I recommend larger rooms as traveling with luggage was difficult. Kieko is an excellent tour guide and most accommodating to traveler requirements. She was essential in recovering my iphone which was left on a train. She lead the way to its recovery. I am most appreciative.

This trip is a must do. It is a true immersive experience of Japan. It really captures the beauty and culture of Japan. It’s hard to see so much of Japan in 13 days, but this itinerary does and excellent job in doing just that. I loved the country and its people.

The Shogun’s palace, Nijo Castle, was a memorable experience. The tea ceremony and the traditional Japanese dinner were great examples of Japanese culture. Loved the visit to the Orange Tori and the bamboo forest (an extra experience added by our tour manager).

Some of the accommodation was old and dated and not up to normal standards, for people taking on this trip you need to be fit and mobile as all of the trip is on public transport, bus, train and metro system
