12 Things To Do in Jakarta
12 Things To Do in Jakarta
As the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta is a sprawling, culturally-diverse city that is always humming and buzzing with activity. Whether you’re looking for a bit of luxury or want to learn some history, there are so many things to do in Jakarta — from shopping and nightlife to Buddhist temples and museums. If you’re not sure what to do in Jakarta during your visit to the busy city, we’ve put together this list of 12 awesome things to do to get you started, in no particular order.
13 Fun Things to Do in Ubud
13 Fun Things to Do in Ubud
Having gained fame as a setting for the film Eat, Pray, Love; Ubud is recognized by many as Bali’s cultural heart. A flourishing crafts center boasting hundreds of shops and studios selling everything from antique wood carvings to locally-made jewelry, it sits in the cool mountains just an hour north of the island’s airport. Also home to spectacular landscapes and fascinating historic and cultural sights, you’ll find a huge number of things to do in Ubud. The 13 on our list are open daily.
Pura Tanah Lot: The Sea Temple
Pura Tanah Lot: The Sea Temple
The coastal temple Pura Tanah Lot is located in the southern part of Bali, North West of popular southern destinations like Kuta and Seminyak. It is vastly known as a destination for epic photography. This cultural icon is among the seven sea temples located in the coast of Bali and has been contained in Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple continues to stand strong today, although it has had its fair share of aging, as back in the 80's the temple started to crumble and about one third of the rocks at the base of the temple had to be replaced with artificial rocks. For those who aren't aware of it's cultural representation, Pura Tanah Lot might just be another ancient ruin to mindlessly gaze at, but Tanah Lot is a place to be held in high esteem and regards, as the temple serves as an important temple dedicated to the sea god as well as a great place to witness Bali’s famous sunsets.
Lembongan Island: Day Trip from Bali
Lembongan Island: Day Trip from Bali
Lembongan Island is a small, lush strip of land set off Bali’s southeast coast. It is one of a trio of islands made up of Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida, and compact Nusa Ceningan. The Badung Strait separates the three islands from Bali. On Lembongan Bali, you’ll discover languid white sandy beaches, fabulous snorkeling and diving amidst a myriad of sea life and flourishing coral reefs and serious surfing, all set in a chilled island-type vibe. If you and your family are in search of a more sedate and unhurried pace of life for your vacation, or you are looking for an intimate location for a honeymoon; Lembongan will welcome you with open arms.

Bali Bliss Review

So much more than just a tour! I know that myself and all the other girls really had our expectations exceeded well above and beyond! From start to end we were well taken care of, with every detail planned, clear communication from our tour guide and we felt really confident in what we were in for! The itinerary was excellent as we got a taste for both the luxurious side of Bali as well as a good appreciation for the culture and reality. It was beautiful seeing the temples, and receiving a lesson on the Balinese culture from a local tour guide. Throughout the tour we supported local guides and local businesses which not only helped provide to those smaller communities but for us to also gain a deeper appreciation for the culture. What made this whole experience special was our amazing tour guide Ovinda! She absolutely excelled in ensuring every single person was connected and enjoying the tour; she had everything organised, well planned and took us to the best local food places, bars and shops. Whatever we needed, she did her upmost to help us and even gave us some language lessons to keep us in touch with the locals! She truly was the best tour guide and made this trip so memorable!

One of the best family holidays we have ever had. The main highlight was obviously seeing and learning about Komodo dragons, but so many other great memories; incredible snorkelling, cycling through rural Bali, learning about Flores man to name just a few. It was a real privilege to have Anton as our guide and leader, his wisdom, humour, organisation and local knowledge would be almost impossible to match.

Enjoyed my trip very much, it has a good varieties of outdoor activities. Flores and surrounding islands are my favorite, and beautiful! The sunset paranomic view at the top of Parda island is amazing, well worth the 900 steos climb 😍 We were lucky to see a few komodo dragons.

Indonesia Tours — Highlights and Travel Tips

When a country has as many as 17000 islands and 300 languages, it is bound to feel confusing and mysterious, yet full of adventure. Indonesia is one of the best places to venture off the beaten path, explore vast landmasses that have been literally untouched by mankind, become a part of scuba diving, hiking and jungle trekking tours and enjoy attractions such as gorgeous beaches, coral cays and unique species of wildlife.

Indonesia is famous as one of the most tectonically active nations on the planet. In other words, it is full of all kinds of volcanoes, nature’s weapons of destruction that also offer spectacular travel experiences. But it’s not all about volcanoes. Indonesia is also home to some of the most scintillating beaches and dramatic locales.

Tour Highlights

  • Visit the dragons on Komodo Island
  • Hike to the crater of Mount Bromo
  • Find peace and ocean views at Pura Tanah Lot temple
  • Explore Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple
  • Find orangutans in the jungles of Sumatra
  • Catch a wave on Kuta beach

Travel Tips

  • Indonesia is a big country made up of several large islands. A drive across Sumatra, the country’s largest island, will take you around 50 hours. Investigate domestic flights instead, and plan ahead to make sure you see all the sites at the top of your bucket list.
  • Left handers be wary: using your left hand is reserved for using the bathroom in Indonesia. It is considered rude to eat, shake hands, or pass items with your left hand.
  • Don’t make the mistake of sticking to Bali. While Bali has much to offer, visiting other islands will surely give you the full Indonesia experience. Climb volcanos on Lombok, visit the capital city of Jakarta and relax on the beaches of the Gili Islands.
  • A sarong will be your best friend when temple hopping, no matter whether you’re a man or a woman. Both sexes are expected to cover up when entering temples and other holy sites.
  • Looking for a cheap snack between meals? Try krupuk! Sold on nearly every street corner, this tasty snack is made of deep-fried rice sugar.
