Andy was a great leader that explained a lot and was sensitive to our needs.
Andy, the leader, was fantastic. We really enjoyed having him as a leader. He felt like a friend and very informative and caring friend. The hikes were challenging but fantastic.
This is one of the best trips I have taken. The hikes are not easy, but really interesting with superb scenery. The meals were outstanding, and so were the B&Bs. Our guide Andy was the best part of the trip! Really knowledgeable and considerate. It was only 5 of us in the group, so a really intimate experience. My daughter and I loved it!
This was my first trip with Explore but I hope it will not be my last. The trip was great, the food and accommodations were better than expected, and the guides were exceptional.
Overall, the trip met my expectations. Our Guide was awesome. The late switch with our first accommodation was not at the level expected.
Beautiful, amazing, and sometimes challenging mountain hikes led by a local guide, Angela. Weather on the mountains can change in a heartbeat, so be sure to bring waterproof layers and gloves.
Highlands and Skye hiking was great! The weather was “bumpy”, as guide called it. But Angela was very good at tweaking the hiking days to get the max best conditions possible for each hike. Accommodations were very good - especially after the wetter hiking days. Overall, the hikes were challenging, with elevation gain/loss and rocky or muddy trail (or off-trail) surface. The whole Scottish experience was memorable!
Scotland’s northwest is a place of ancient mountains, dramatic coasts, and untamed beauty—and this eight-day walking holiday offers an immersive way to experience it all. Beginning and ending in Inverness, 'Walk the North West Highlands and Skye' is designed for active travelers who appreciate both rewarding hikes and cultural depth.
Trek glacier-carved hills in the UNESCO North West Highlands Geopark, wander the pristine beaches near Gairloch, and explore the mystical landscapes of Skye’s Cuillin and Quiraing. The small group size (maximum 8 guests) ensures personalized attention from an expert mountain leader, while evenings bring opportunities to savor local cuisine and share stories.
The USP? A carefully curated walking tour that weaves together geology, history, and natural wonder—making it a must for those who want to truly connect with Scotland’s wild heart.
