Mountains, Valleys and Lakes of Switzerland

Great tour of Switzerland. I probably wouldn't recommend doing it in the summer though. It was super hot in July but the scenery was just so beautiful. I especially loved the Swiss food and beer.

Tour was excellent and Switzerland such a beautiful country. Would be hard not to enjoy the scenery, mountains and lakes. Very relaxed tour with mostly 9am starts and two nights stays in each location very welcome. Hotels were very good except for Berne. Back Roads should consider not using this hotel. It was run down, in need of repair/painting/carpets and rooms were small. Our room was on the top floor in the eaves and you had to crawl around the bed to get in - impossible to stand up. I would suggest advising prospective travellers that this tour involves a lot of walking up hills and climbing steps so a certain level of fitness is necessary.

A wonderful tour, one of the best I have ever been on. We spent most of the time in country Switzerland, which is what I really like. Our last two nights were spent in Grindelwald, it is so beautiful there. To see the amazing waterfalls on the Rhine River was amazing. We made our own chocolate, helped make cheese, and visited a man who makes Alp horns. Staying at Vitznau on Lake Lucerne was just amazing too. It was good to stay in Bern too, to visit a city - for balance. We also had a wonderful, caring and professional tour guide, one of the best. Back Roads is now my number 1 tour company to travel with.

Th esize of the group (8) and their willingnessa to interact made all the difference.

Picturesque Switzerland! Blue-Roads Touring do a great job of managing to fit in so much whilst keeping the pace moderate & undemanding. The 2 night stays are what encourages us every time so your not packing up every day.

Lovely, easy paced tour of a beautiful country.

Good itinerary, good guide, good transport. Some good hotels, but Blue-Roads always choose the cheaper room. eg, no lake views.

EXCELLENT SMALL GROUP TOUR - PLEASANT, FUNNY AND INFORMATIVE GUIDE - GREAT SCENERY AND HOTELS

despite cool and often wet conditions in May, we had an excellent 10 days. Great variety each day, and being a small country, we didn't have to spend too much time on the road. Our guide Chiara gave us 110% every day...

Fabulous trip. Loved every minute of it. Well organised. Plenty to see and do. Guides were informative and available. Weather was lousy but made the most of it.

Was excited 10 days the toer with the bus ,the tour leader was very informative and helpful enjoyed it very much and funny.🙏😆

Tours like this depend on the people. The guide, Chiara , was kind and knowledgeable and the fellow travellers were open and friendly. The brochure shows Switzerland always in sunshine. The reality is, it’s more likely to rain and be grey and misty. That’s why the cheese is so good. I enjoyed being on the Blue-Roads. I could have given the tourist hordes on Jungfrau a wide berth and anyway it was once again enveloped in cloud. But the good views made up For the ones that weren’t so great and the company was good so I would Recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience Switzerland.

An amazing tour with spectacular views and great accommodation. The excursions and experiences on this tour were well beyond what my expectations were. Fresh snow on top of the Jungfrau was amazing as were the Trummelbach Waterfalls. Melinda was a fantastic tour guide who consistently went the extra mile to provide information and useful tips. Her efforts during all our touring to ensure an optimal experience for all guests were exceptional. I highly recommend this tour.

A great mix of guide led sightseeing and free time. Although first and last group dinners were not that good.

Fabulous tour Fabulous tour leader

Loved the tour, especially enjoyed the activities, cheese, Alphorn , beer and chocolate making. The tour guide Melinda was very knowledgeable on all thing Swiss and couldn't have been more accommodating to the tour group.

I loved this tour, and it was exactly right for my travel style. The tour leader (Melinda) was really great - she provided a good mix of organised excursions with enough 'alone time' to ensure everyone's needs were met. I especially loved the cute and quirky hotels and the fact that they were all walking distance from 'the action'. Melinda took the time to get to know everyone as individuals and was very open to suggestions. I really enjoyed that level of flexibility...like "how about we hike down a couple of train stops". Bonus fun! :-)

This is not a tour for those with limited mobility of any kind as there is no porterage service to/from hotels, bags must be loaded on an off trains by tour members and the terrain is usually uneven. It is also not a tour to be combined with Blue Road's Vistas of Italy and Switzerland, as we did, as Mountain Valleys and Lakes visits many of the same Switzerland locations. Although the Swiss scenery is wonderful in both tours, we suggest only one be taken. If only one, our vote is for Vistas of Italy and Switzerland as porterage service is included.

Our Guide, Melinda, was excellent. The itinerary itself was well presented. Everything was well planned and executed.

Excellent tour happy to recommend to many people wanting to do this fabulous Backroad Tour. Switzerland is a beautiful country and doing Backroad Tours you get to meet the locals and see and do a lot more in the small group and travel on a small bus. Our tour leader and bus driver were supurb. Our Tour Leader Chiara was excellent in all areas I.e Professionalism, helpful, product knowledge, caring, customer service,friendly.
