Itinerary was good - gives a good overview; hotels are not often completely centrally located - I suspect that makes them slightly cheaper and helps to make the cost of the tour more affordable. The guide and driver were excellent - and
Unfortunately, I didn’t realize the tattoo was part of the itinerary as we didn’t see that communicating too clearly. So we watched it beforehand so we ended up paying for it twice. But that’s probably my fault as much as anybody’s.
We stayed in 3 hotels. The first one was in Glasgow. It was sub-par. Very small all around and we had trouble even finding a place to put our luggage. It felt like we were on a cruise ship. The second hotel in the highlands was better but the mattress on the bed was in bad shape. They gave us some extra blankets to lay over top and that helped. The third hotel was the Holiday Inn located in Edinburgh and we very nice. We did all the included and optional excursions and they were all well worth it. The trip overall was excellent. Highly recommend taking it. If you go plan it for when the Edinburgh Castle has the Military Tattoo in August. You don't want to miss that! It runs for 3 weeks.
The itinerary and coach were excellent!!! The first hotel the Ibis in the City Centre was way too small of a room. The food was great - everything else was great - service excellent. The second hotel was lovely - in the forest - I would definitely go there again. It was very cheerful and kid and family friendly. I loved the dinosaurs in the garden! The third hotel - the Holiday Inn outside of town was too cookie cutter, i would have preferred a hotel closer to the city centre. The breakfast and food in all of the hotels was great! Perfect for breakfast! I really enjoyed the special Scottish dinner in the restaurant with the bagpipe player, a dancer and a guitar player! We met the owner of the restaurant who was so entertaining! That was the best! The Tatoo was amaging! I have wonderful memories that I will always cherish and friendly people on the tour that I will remember! Our driver and tour director were the best!!!
My one disappointment was that we did not tour the Isle of Skye through the scenic vistas.
Busy but you will see a lot
