Good trip, with a fantastic guide, great driver, and a great group of fellow travelers, some great places to visit, the drives were very long and they were not for me personnel, the group, off which there were 12, at least 6 were ill at some stage, and I was ill at airport leaving, which was a great shame.
An amazing jam packed tour, seeing different cities with enthusiastic local guides is great. Many panoramic views for photography enthusiasts. Some long drives but then you get to know your fellow travelers.
A lot of driving with several stops for panoramic views. Got a good feel for the country and it's friendly people
A great experience. Would recommend this trip.
Good tour to discover the highlights of Morocco. Fast paced but well organised trip experiencing cities, villages, mountains and desert. Good value. The heat important after early June.
This was an amazing trip. We really felt like we had seen all of the highlights of Morocco. The tour guide was exceptional. Mohammed went out of his way to enhance every experience we had by introducing us to local people and added bits to the trip that weren’t on the itinerary because he was catering to our interest. Without doubt it was his knowledge that made the trip so special. It is a very full on trip if there is a lot to see in nine days but well worth the travelling. Our driver Abdul was also an absolute gem. Some of the roads were quite basic, but we always felt safe with him. A great trip.
We had a wonderful time and our guide Mohamad Mazoz was great. The trip was fast paced and he did a great job of keeping us on track and maximising our time in Morocco through great organisation. We enjoyed the mix of the old cities, mountains and desert combined with great food, history and architecture. A highlight was the camel ride for sure! There was lots of driving but it meant you saw plenty of the country and how it changed from place to place. We will definitely be back in the future to explore the coast.
Wonderful small group tour of inland Morocco from Medinas of Fes & Meknes, to Sahara desert camp to historic fortified town of Ait Ben Haddou. A few early starts and long journeys are well worth the effort. Really felt I 'd packed 12 days of experience into 8 days. A fascinating and beautiful country of warm and good-humoured people.
Morocco is a stunning country with a diverse and memorable landscape. Although some days were spent mostly on the bus ( Morocco is a large country) there was always something to keep you occupied through the window. A big thumbs up to our guide Hassan who was very approachable and laid back with a nice sense of humour.
A very fast paced itinerary so be prepared. I found the standards of accommodation slightly below par but perfectly adequate. I personally found the ‘picnic sites’ a lot to be desired. If you have a camping cutlery set I would pack it. Our Tour Leader was excellent. Friendly, approachable and very well organised.
Morocco is now a full on tourist destination. There are tourists everywhere! Explore has provided a varied itinerary but there is no getting away from the TUI crowd. This is very different to when we visited in 2005 when the tourists were mainly concentrated in Marrakech and Essaouira. Explore's the hotels are, in general, quite a distance away from the centre of town making exploration during free time difficult. On Day 3 we visited both Meknes and Volubilis. It felt very rushed ... dissatisfying as it was a tremendously long drive to get there, only to be rushed around. All-in-all it was a good trip. Improvements to the itinerary can be made to allow more time in the medinas i.e. slower guided walks through so that we could appreciate the atmosphere and perhaps a little banter with the locals.
Packed schedule allowing you to see the best of Inland Morocco. All types of landscape, mountains, terrain, forests, lakes, desert and waterfalls. Islamic and French influence with Berber’s culture and Berber’s language. Sahara’s experience- best of the best. The group leader and the driver - well done for staying positive, energetic and calm and focused at the same time. My first time in Morocco and I loved it.
Varied fast paced tour of Morocco. Amazingly beautiful scenery and wonderful architecture.
A fantastic time seeing the highlights and learning about Morocco. Superb Leader and a friendly group of travellers. Will be booking more holidays with Explore.
An excellent trip. You cover a huge area and see so many interesting things. Our guide was friendly, informative and fun. So many highlights including the desert camp, riding across the desert on a camel, seeing the waterfalls, and a great group of people to explore with.
An excellent holiday
The tour crams in a great deal in a short period and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a short highlights tour of Morocco, preferably with the addition of an extra day in Marrakesh which is otherwise covered only briefly. Be prepared for some early starts and long journeys in the coach. I had two reservations. First the desert camp which we had to share with another group and was bounded on three sides by a series of other camps; not the remote characterful experience I had previously enjoyed in the Explore Jordan desert camp. Second was the number of stops in retail outlets not included in the Trip Notes. These made long days even longer. Additionally a lengthy stay at a herbal remedies store in Marrakesh took up a substantial amount of the already limited time allocated for the half day guided tour, reducing the number of sites that could be visited in the city. In view of the already full-on timetable Explore needs to get a grip on these visits and scale them back. Overall, though my experience of the tour was positive, helped by sharing it with a really nice group of fellow travellers..
trip kitty- 450 moroccan money minus at end 250 back. Therefore tip driver and tour leader separately. Highlight- archeological site and camel ride. I arrived early so visited the snake charmers and also again at end of tour. We had 45 minutes to sightsee before last group dinner in Marrekech. New movie- the odyssey was being filmed in ait benhaddou while we were there.
A very busy but interesting itinerary with long drives. Accommodation score poor because of sub standard room on second night. One bed had not been changed and still had the previous occupants toe nails.
I just loved this trip. We saw so much and learned and laughed so much as we went. Too many highlights to list, and so varied too, but for me personally my favourite part was the camel ride across the sand dunes: just unbelievably beautiful. Ridouan was an excellent tour leader: he somehow just about kept our group under control (!) and in the right place at the right time, and usually with a twinkle in his eye. He was so generous in sharing his knowledge of and pride for Morocco. We had a great group of people too: the trip was full (16) which I thought might feel overwhelming but actually worked really well. Yes, there is a lot of driving, but that was reasonably restful too - all I needed to do was sit in a coach and watching the beautiful scenery change all around us, and occasionally have a nap. It wasn't a hardship! And it's true that the accommodation is certainly a bit basic for some stops, but each place had character, and this is travelling rather than a luxury retreat. It's a really full-on week but I'd recommend it completely. What a fascinating, warm, colourful and welcoming country.
Explore offered a great value. We covered a lot of ground, and the camel ride and night of camping in the desert will be something I will remember always. Our tour guide, Ridouan, was entertaining, knowledgeable and organized. Those were the highlights. On the other hand, be prepared to spend a significant amount of time visiting showrooms of rugs, oils, fossils, pottery and leather goods and waiting while fellow guests make their purchases.
This was an amazing trip around Morocco with a packed schedule. A beautiful country with very welcoming people. There are a few days with long drives, but the scenery makes it worthwhile. Vegetarian food selection was a bit limited especially away from the big cities and facilities in a couple of the hotels were only just OK. The explore tour leader Ridoune was absolutely brilliant, keeping the group together, and catering to everyone's needs and keeping us on schedule. He provided a lot of interesting information about the history and culture of Morocco. Thanks to him we saw all the sights, not to mention some spectacular sunsets over the sand dunes and Ait Ben Haddou. He's a credit to Explore! The local guides were great too.
Enjoyed traveling with lots of great Brits. (I’m American.) The size of the group at 16 was perfect. Group leader Ridouan was always chipper and communicated well, intervening to help with some vendors. I felt prices at Moroccan sales stops is initially too high. We got a better price on Argan oil at airport! Would have liked a little more formal Moroccan history perhaps from a university professor like American travel company Road Scholar does. But local guides in Fez and Marrakesh were excellent.
Full on tour with some long drives, but some great experiences. Ridouane was a great guide, informative and humorous, he also looked after some members of our group who got sick. Morocco is a beautiful country and well worth a visit!
There was a glitch with airport transfer on arrival at Marrakech and that was stressful!
Explore tell you this is a fast paced tour. Do not underestimate this! The itinerary is ram packed with some big drives and early starts. I absolutely loved this trip and Morocco will be one of those rare countries that I visit again & again. I got lost in the beauty of the vast desert plains juxtaposed with snow-capped mountains & lush green oases. I loved the food, the bustling & beautiful cities of Fez & Marrakech. All of us enjoyed shopping for Berber rugs & strolling though the almond blossoms and marvelling at the beauty of Todra Gorge. Ridouane, our guide, was an absolute diamond & a superb ambassador for his country. He blended humour, extensive knowledge and excellent organisational skills together to make this trip memorable for all 16 of us! He took care of sick members of the group & ensured they were cared for. Ridouane managed this large group with skill and care, making sure we were on time for experiences and factoring in our frequent demands for coffee and toilet breaks! His company and personality was a huge highlight of this trip and he showed off his beautiful country and culture to the maximum. If you have time, I would recommend a day extra in Marrakech for the souks & Jardins Majorelle, which I did on my own & felt completely safe.
The tour is described as ‘full on’, which is an understatement. An incredible amount of sights and experiences is crammed into the week of travel; it’s exhausting and exhilarating. Moorish architecture, Roman mosaics, snowy mountains, the Sahara desert, souks and camels and macaques. Amazing.
I have already submitted a review.
I visited a lot of beautiful places with magnificent views. I wish Explorer could add information related to tipping to pay the various guides after the visits. During the information session, our guide requested that each participant contribute 400 dirhams for tips to avoid each participant tipping individually. It's not a bad idea but I was very surprised because I didn't expect it. Part of my budget was deducted. This would avoid many surprises for participants. I think some routes could be shortened to get to the main point because of people with reduced mobility. I also think that some activities could be shortened, for example walking in the woods and crossing the river. I wish the guide left a little more time for buying souvenirs at some specific places. Our guide was very professional. We had a good driver who was very professional. There was Wi-Fi on the bus and we could even charge our phones, which was appreciated by everyone. Because of a situation with a problematic person the driver was fired even though he had worked five days. I found that the decision was too fast. We had to change the driver and the coach for two days. The bus had no Wi-Fi and we couldn't even charge our phones. I hope that no matter what will happen with a group or someone the organizers should take the time to analyze the situation and evaluate it carefully before making any decision. It was a very nice experience.
