Step back in time at the medieval castle of the enchanting St Michael’s Mount
Fall in love with the charm and buzz of historic port towns Padstow and Port Isaac
Admire the dramatic cliffs and wild shorelines of the jaw-dropping Jurassic Coast
Pause at the hushed cloisters of Salisbury Cathedral, a magnificent feat of Gothic architecture
A land where sapphire sky meets turquoise sea, Cornwall is a true treasure. With its windswept moors that graze the horizon and winding country lanes that open up to postcard-perfect fishing villages, England’s South West is waiting for you to carve your own story. Soak up the views of pristine golden bays, bustling harbours and wild coastlines as you go – all best enjoyed with a traditional Cornish pasty in hand, of course!
The tour was terrific. Paul was a wonderful and engaging guide. He was extremely approachable, caring, fun and knowledgeable; he went over and above expectations by including extra stops at Tintagel and also Dartington Hall. He and Ben went out of their way in getting help for my phone at Truro and also effectively dealt with another passenger who required urgent medical attention.
Very well organized and they made it easy for us to see locations in Cornwall
The luxury hotel was nice but too expensive to eat also I think being Australian some of the beach scenes were just fair more country side would be good also to include bath
This was my first time travelling overseas and I had the most magical experience thanks to our Coach Driver, Simon, and Tour Guide, Tony, (who both had sooooo much knowledge and the best sense of humour, with our safety and wellbeing always front and foremost) with Blue-Roads Touring Co. Not to mention the beautiful lifelong friends I made who were also part of the tour group. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Accommodation-wise, every place we stayed was different but perfect in its own way. If I travel overseas again, this is the Tour Company I will be re-booking with, without doubt. And despite not having travelled outside Australia until now, surely Cornwall has to be the most beautiful little County on the planet!
Tour took us to a variety of sites with background explanations from tour leader. Our tour leader and driver made the holiday go smoothly.
Excellent holiday . I wish we had a bit longer in Falmouth but overall excellent accommodation meals driver and tour guide Tony .
Corners of Cornwall is an extra special tour, it has a unique “flavour “ of its own. From the narrow winding cobblestone streets to the narrow country roads one can’t but help absorb the wonderful vibes from this south-west corner of England.
Great Guide (Russell) and great Driver (Jimmy), Great Journey
Corners of Cornwall was absolutely fantastic. Tony our guide was very knowledgeable & imparted a lot of interesting facts & history, & even managed to keep a group of Aussies & Kiwi’s under control. Dudley our driver could not do enough for us all & was a superb driver around all those narrow roads. A fantastic way to see Cornwall. Great value for money.
Very pleasant trip Suggest less than 18 guests would be preferable
Russel was excellent together with Driver Renata made everybody very welcome went above and beyond
With the excellent tour guide Paul and the excellent driver Ash our tour "Corners of Cornwall" (Devon - Cornwall - etc.) was a wonderful experience.
the small group was just the right size. Russell and Renata were great - knowledgeable and very friendly. the places we visited were very interesting. the hotels were fine - beds not great. also food was not always great what other Corners tours do you have? Brandon & Avril Diamond
I was extremely pleased with the whole experience. The tour leader and driver were excellent and made everyone feel very welcome . They were both exceptional in their roles as well as being great companions to all. We covered many wonderful places in Cornwall and Devon and really experienced the ‘back roads’. I would highly recommend Back Roads to my friends and family.
Fantastic tour guide ,excellent driver, great hotels and stays at cities. The towns, cities, villages we visited were very interesting with many historical points of interest. I enjoyed every part of the tour.
I enjoyed the Corners of Cornwall tour immensely. The driver and tour leader were excellent guides. I appreciated the information, so entertainingly delivered, the pace and comfort level in the bus, at hotels and the free time we had to explore. Thank you
The only way to access and experience the beauty of Cornwall with it's challenging and narrow roads is by a minicoach. A mercedes minicoach driven by a capable and courteous driver (by the name of Simon) made the experience even better. Having a local, knowledgeable and dedicated tour leader (by the name of Russell) who is an excellent storyteller that spoke with an impeccable cadence made the tour so interesting and easy to listen to. I never felt left out despite being severely hearing impaired as a result. Thank you to both Simon and Russell!
Beautiful area via all the Blue-Roads with our excellent guide and driver. Very comfortable vehicle
There was only 1 hotel on the tour that made adjustments due to my dietary needs. At one hotel I was served Lettuce and a bit of beetroot as an entree. I would stay at The Two Bridges hotel. They went above and beyond to accommodate my needs.
I felt Cornwall trip leaned more toward relaxation end of spectrum than cultural as most stops were seaside type resorts. All hotels were excellent. Tregothnan Tea Plantation was a pleasant surprise and a trip highlight. The folks at the plantation estate were very friendly and knowledgeable and the walking tour through plantation was very enjoyable. Tour guide, Alan, was easygoing.
fff
The tour at Cornwall was particularly good because we visited so many significant places that I had either read about or seen in films. The accommodation, food, guide and driver were excellent. It also helped that we had beautiful weather for the entire tour.
good
Guide and driver were very good. The itinerary hit all of the impressive locations one would expect; and organised an additional visit to Fowey. Hotels were generally of a good standard.
We loved the Blue-Roads Corners of Cornwall tour - such a beautiful and interesting coast line with lovely coastal villages and towns. Our tour guide Tony was wonderful with a great knowledge of the area and driver Jimmy kept us safe and found interesting Blue-Roads to travel on.
It was a good tour and enjoyed what we went to. Pleased too to be able to go to the Eden Project. My one disappointment was that I had been looking forward to the King Arthur section which we didn't do. Thank you too for Tony checking out something that happened at the Hotel I stayed at before the tour started. Driver and Guide were lovely people.
Great time. Great host. Bus very cramped for tall or larger people.
I loved travelling the back roads, really seeing the scenery around us and enjoying each other’s company in a small group. Please go to the places listed on the itinerary -Salisbury Cathedral, Lands End.
Fabulous tour, loved this corner of England. We were blessed with a fantastic group of travellers, the best tour guide and driver.
Tour guide was great. Driver drove on some very tricky roads safely. Small group suits my travel style and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Places visited were lovely and the planned activities great.
Excellent tour with a tour guide who went out of his way to ensure we had a great trip.
This tour exceeded our expectations with the opportunity to explore this part of UK in depth led by our exceptional tour guide Harry Potter. Sorry we hadn't booked a back to back on another tour. From itinerary, accommodation and small group personal attention we would not hesitate to return and recommend Back Roads to family and friends.
Lovely trip we saw lots enjoyed every minute. Great group of people. Food was excellent. Highlights were Wells st Michael's mount and Salisbury cathedral
Having left a bit of time since our tour ended this has only enhanced my belief that this Blue-Roads tour of Cornwall was truly exceptional. Despite the magic weather and glorious sites, our Tour Leader Jenny and Driver Ryan made the trip the delight it was. They devoted themselves to our total enjoyment and comfort. Due to this chemistry our group bonded around them. This is demonstrated by the fact that over 6 weeks after our tour ended the group are still in touch reliving the spirit and experiences of our shared time.
Tour very enjoyable, guide was very good as was the accommodation except in Salisbury.breakfasts were good, evening meals just ok. Tea plantation excellent and Russell’s singing friends made for a great night.simon the driver, was excellent. Bus always clean and he was always very obliging
I loved the Corners of Cornwall tour. Alan Frost was a great guide & Dudley a very competent & funny driver. The Cornwall scenery was amazing and the small numbers in the tour very suitable for me as well. Both guide & driver really looked after all the passengers & nothing was too much trouble for them. I thoroughly recommend this tour. Ki8nd regards, Marg Wegner.
We're still raving about this tour which exceeded our expectations. The guide Jenny and driver Ryan were not only brilliant at their jobs but great people. The tour included many wonderful things which were not actually included in the itinerary, perhaps because of time or weather variables. Jenny had amazing local knowledge and worked at tweaking the program to accommodate our personal interests. Also good recommendations for activities and eating. Our friendly cohesive group has resulted in some lasting friendships. Many thanks!
Our total experience far exceeded our expectations. The content and extras provided by our guide and driver were outstanding. Accomodation was varied but excellent. Distance covered each day was well managed and arrival time at accommodation was very considerate. Special dinners were the icing on the cake! Our tour group was very friendly and worked in a cooperative way with the tour guide and driver. A beautiful county, comprehensively covered in tour.
Tour guide was fabulous. Too many Highlights. Tea plantation deserves mention. Dartmoor was more than expected.
Just finished our second tour with Back Roads Touring, this time for 'Corners of Cornwall', and it was again very enjoyable. Our tour guide, Carolyn, was very good and the driver, the effervescent Toni, manoeuvered the Benz Bus with dexterity and aplomb. She must be used to the English traffic and narrow hedgerow lanes. I was not. Carolyn was very organised and efficient and provided as much information and guidance as we needed, and also provided mini-plans (and suggestions) for the towns that we visited so that we didn't get lost ...much. Our travelling companions were primarily from Australia and New Zealand (an eclectic crew), with two Americans for balance. The accommodation was all of a very good standard (though interestingly there was a dearth of mini-fridges in the rooms ...possibly not very British), and all the included breakfasts and included dinners were excellent. It was noticeable that the accommodation at Carlyon Bay/Charlestown, whilst excellent, was well away from the Charlestown village. Suggestions would be to reduce the time at Tregothnan Estate which seemed to drag a bit (but it may have been the rain), and increase the time at Falmouth, which seemed to be used as a base rather than a place to explore (and to increase the free time more generally). The high point (of many) was St. Michael's Mount which was stunning, historic and interesting, made the more so by Carolyn's expertise. I also personally enjoyed Two Bridges Hotel on Dartmoor as being essentially the setting for 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Cornwall and its villages and towns are very beautiful, and so very English (possibly the Cornish people may argue that), though I couldn't help but think it would've been preferable that Henry VIII didn't pull down so many buildings. Another proviso is to be aware that there is a several hour motorway journey to and from Devon/Cornwall and the point of which the tour really begins. Overall a very good tour, itinerary, accommodation, and particularly good tour guide who was there for us all the time, including making sure that we got to our next destination after the tour. Many thanks to Carolyn (and to our travelling companions).
Loved Cornwall. Excellent tour guide, who loves Cornwall, and driver especially on those narrow roads. If I was ever in Europe again I would go with Blue-Roads. Also would recommend Blue-Roads to people.
Great tour! Would certainly recommend. Tour guide and bus driver were fantastic. Great group of fun people to travel with and all the extra tours we did were well planned and interesting.
Overall good but not great compared with apt .Last hotel in Salsbury very poor food sub standard staff very rude .tour guide and bus driver very good .should look at night's when no dinner supplied be close to other restaurant as hotel restaurants are very expensive. Also for Avery small cost 1 sml glass of wine for dinner is penny pinching cheers
Well informed by guide in all aspects of the tour. About history of the area. Where Toby meals. Great driver in navigating around the narrow road and street.
A wonderful tour from start to finish. Everything was as described in the outline, but so much more included along the way. We had a superb tour leader in Jenny. Friendly and approachable, knowledgeable, and very well organised throughout. Ryan was a fabulous driver, negotiating the narrow lanes calmly and skillfully, and fully part of the group. I am very grateful to them both for making the tour so seamless and relaxing. This is a stunningly beautiful part of England, and we sampled so many of its delights. Would highly recommend this company, and look forward to another tour with them in the future..
This was a great trip. Our tour guide Carolyn and driver Steve were fantastic
Great guide and driver, well planned trip, a very good time.
It was a fantastic tour to some incredible sights. Our director, Carolyn was wonderful, helpful and very knowledgeable. Our driver Steve was incredible, driving us down narrow roads to see amazing sights.
Excellent content regarding our destinations and ample free time. Accommodation was excellent. Our tour leader Carolyn was professional, flexible, knowledgeable and relaxed. This is everything you hope for in a tour leader. Toni, our driver excelled in her driving abilities and besides keeping us safe, had a friendly nature which set everyone at ease. Thank you Michael
Good experiences, a little hurried at times
Great tour for anyone interested in local history and cultural highlights
Most enjoyable tour with a great group of people and lead by Harrison (Harry) Potter who was exceptional. The itinerary was good and the tour exceeded my expectations with Harry providing additional information, opportunities and genuine care for us all.
Harrison Potter made this tour.
A lovely tour to Cornwall but I don’t agree that time is spent on other passengers history looking through gravesites and churches. The remainder of passengers are not particularly interested and better spent enjoying the towns strolling the buildings and shops. Tour leader very knowledgable but information overload, especially 45 minutes reciting Thomas Hardy, when music would have suited passengers more whilst travelling on the bus.
It was an excellent tour where we got to visit many areas,
The tour guide was very informative, friendly and made our trip very enjoyable. Loved the smaller group which made it easy to make friendships. Places we visited very memorable and extra highlights such as tea plantation was a highlight. There was too much free time in some places over lunchtime such as Padstow where there wasn’t a lot to do for 2 hours.
Loved the tour of Cornwall. It was well paced. I think we spent too much time at Padstow Our tour guide Caroline was excellent and also the driver Alex.
It was great. Saw beautiful areas and historical parts of Cornwall.
Loved it. Guide and Driver both excellent. Company of fellow tourists like minded.
Great tour. A lovely mix of on the bus and walking around places. The villages are gorgeous and the Tregothnan tea plantation was a bonus. Accomodation was excellent although rooms did vary in quality at the same hotels when we compared with others. We were lucky enough to have good rooms each time. Rob the bus driver was very skilled on those narrow lane ways! Alan got better as the trip went on. We could have done with more information on many things. He would start to say something and then stop. We sometimes had to ask where we were! At one stagecoach heard him say he had left his information folder at home, that may have been the reason. We had no contact with Back Roads tours and wonder whether that was to do with our travel agent. Others talked about filling in forms about fitness, health etc. We were only asked if we had any allergies by our agent and had to ask what time we were meeting on the first night. We will discuss this with our travel agent. We are happy to do another tour next year.
